  • Summer 2001 - Walmer - Flying Triangle Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 25/04/2011 For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used Sighting Details The witness, Tracy, cannot remember the exact summer in which the sighting took place, but she believes it was around 2001. The sun had just gone down and she was sitting in the back garden of her house in Walmer, Kent, watching the night sky. It was a pleasant summer’s evening and the stars were visible in the sky. She looked to the East and was amazed to see a large triangular shaped object in the sky. It appeared quite large in size and had no visible lighting on it. The object was blocking out the stars, which is how she had noticed it to begin with. It appeared to be hovering about 100 feet high over a local school playing field, about half a mile from the coast. The UFO was completely stationary and silent. Tracy was very curious and wondered if it was an ET craft. She watched it from the garden for about 15 minutes. After this time she decided she wanted to get a closer look at it so went inside to fetch her binoculars. Upon her return to the garden, the object had vanished. Sighting Analysis There is a good likelihood that this sighting was a genuine sighting of a Flying Triangle, one of the more commonly reported types of UFO. The fact the object remained stationary for 15 minutes means it could not have been a military stealth aircraft or other aircraft. Also if it was an aircraft or helicopter there would have been numerous lights visible on it, but it was completely black. Could it have been a large inflatable of some kind? This again seems unlikely. If it was tethered then it would have remained in the area and not suddenly vanished, and if it was freely drifting the witness would surely have seen it move in the time that she watched it for. It seemed much too large to have been a balloon or radio controlled model. Could it have been a secret military craft of some kind? Perhaps, but again this would surely have had lighting of some kind on it? Also it is unlikely they would fly a craft of this type in a location where it could be freely observed. Even though on this occasion the UFO was not seen to perform any impressive manoeuvres, Flying Triangles have often been seen to perform incredible manoeuvres at stunning speeds which seem far outside our current technological capabilities. It is interesting that the UFO vanished just when the witness went in to get her binoculars. This could well have just been coincidence, but could it be that it was aware it was being observed and decided to leave the area? This is a possibility worth considering. • May - June 2010 - Merthyr Tydfil - Silver Sphere Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 25/04/2011 Sighting Details Early afternoon on a cloudy and windy day in May or June 2010, Jim (name changed for privacy reasons) was in his office on High Street, Dowlaise, Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. He decided to glance out of the window. His office overlooks the district of the town. A local church, St Illtyds, makes up part of this view. The church is about 600-700 metres away from his company’s office building. Aerial map showing the location of St Illtyds. High Street is South of it: 📷 Aerial photograph of the church: 📷 While staring out of the window a small object in the air over the church caught his attention. Directly above the steeple, about 12 feet above the top of it, was a grey/dull silver coloured sphere. It looked between the size of a foot ball and a beach ball. The sphere was completely stationary, which completely perplexed Jim considering the fact it was a breezy day. He continued to watch it. After about 30 seconds it suddenly started to ascend upward at a slow but constant speed. Jim was astounded at how controlled it appeared – it did not look like it was randomly drifting. Within 30 seconds of it beginning its ascent, it vanished into some cloud. Sighting Analysis This is an interesting sighting of what may well have been a genuine ET craft. Small silver spheres are one of the more commonly reported types of UFO, and have been seen all around the world. They are often seen to perform intelligent controlled manoeuvres similar to what Jim described. Due to their size they are widely believed to be unmanned, and are probably used for observational purposes. Obviously some silver sphere sightings may well be misidentification of stray balloons drifting in the sky. However the manoeuvres this object performed seem to suggest that it was under control. It was a windy day and yet it remained motionless for a short while. Then when it did start to move it went straight upwards and at a constant speed. If it was a balloon or other drifting object it would surely have been buffeted around in the breeze. Due to its small size it is not out of the question that it was a remote controlled model or military drone of some kind. However it had no visible means of propulsion or lift. Due to the fact that UFOs such as this have been seen and reported many times before, I feel that it may have been one of these craft. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2011

  • Summer 2010 - Reddich - Flying Triangle Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Last Updated: 25/04/2011 In the summer of 2010 a family from Reddich all had an encounter with a large triangular shaped UFO. In April 2011 the father of the family decided to get in touch with BUFOG to share this experience. This report covers the incident in detail. For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used Sighting Details It was between 10pm and midnight on a warm clear night in the summer of 2010. The stars were fully visible in the sky overhead. Robert, his wife Julia and sons Tim and Alex were out in the back garden of their house on Lime Tree Crescent. Suddenly Alex spotted something up in the sky. He pointed at it and asked “What’s that?” Aerial map showing the location of Lime Tree Crescent: 📷 The family all looked up and were amazed to see a large black triangular shaped object. It was quite low down, about 50 feet up, and had appeared over the roofs of neighbouring houses on Ash Tree Road, North of their position. It looked to be quite big in size, at least 30 feet across. There were no visible markings on the surface of the object it just looked completely black. At the front of it were three white lights - one at the front point and one either side of it. The object appeared quite flattened but due to the angle it was hard to tell the depth of it accurately. The object was moving slowly, moving at between 10-20 mph, and travelling on a straight and level course. It was completely silent. It approached them and flew right over their heads. As it did, it blocked out the stars in the sky above. Once it was past it was no longer very visible as there were no lights on the rear of the object. The object headed off in the direction of Reddich town centre. The family realised that it wasn't a normal aircraft of any kind due to the shape and the lighting on it. They did not tell anyone else about the incident afterwards as they felt they wouldn't be believed anyway. Sighting Analysis This is a stunning sighting of what was probably a Flying Triangle craft. The object seems too large to have been a model or inflatable of some kind. It could not have been mistaken identity of a military craft such as a stealth bomber. It was completely triangular in shape, was moving too slowly to have been this, the lighting configuration was unlike any known aircraft, and was also completely silent. At the low altitude the object was seen at the family would have been able to hear the noise of jet engines if there was any. Could it have been a secret military aircraft of some kind? Again this seems very unlikely, why would they fly such a craft over a highly populated town at low altitude? The lighting seen on the object was quite unusual. Usually Flying Triangles are seen to have a light at each corner and a larger central light, or have small lights all around the edges. But this craft had several lights at the front, and none elsewhere on it. I am not sure whether I have heard of any FT sightings with this lighting before, I certainly haven’t investigated any personally. However there are a large variety of ET craft, in much the same way that we have a large variety of aircraft. And perhaps the craft had some of its lights switched off at the time for whatever reason, this is always a possibility. The fact that the whole family saw the object means it was clearly a solid object of some kind. It is possible that there were other witnesses to this FT as it was moving slowly at low altitude over the town. If you believe you too may have seen it please get in touch. • Summer 1975 to December 2010 - White Orb, Domed Disc & Silver Sphere UFO Sightings

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 17/05/2011 In March 2011 Julie Symes got in touch with me via Richard Hall’s website to let me know the details of an interesting sighting that she and her son Geraint had between 1999 and 2001. In speaking with her via E-Mail it became apparent that the family have had had several other UFO sightings as well. This report covers each of these sightings in detail. Summer 1975 – Stackpole Quay – White Orb Sighting In the summer of 1975 Julie’s husband Martyn (who was 21 at the time) and his friend Mark were on holiday near Stackpole Quay, Wales. They were camping near to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. In the evening they went out to a local pub for a meal, about half a mile from where they had pitched the tent. It was a pleasant and still evening. On the way back they were walking past some fields when they noticed a white orb of light hovering over a field off to their right. It was quite dark by this time so the light stood out. Aerial map of Stackpole Quay: 📷 Photograph of Stackpole Quay: 📷 The orb appeared to be about the size of a football. It was glowing but not bright enough to light up the surroundings. It appeared to be about 3 feet off the ground and hovering over the hedge at the far side of the field. It was completely stationary when they first noticed it. It was odd but they decided not to attempt to approach it. They began walking again and noticed that the orb was now following them. When they stopped it stopped, when they moved it also moved! They tried running, and stopping suddenly. But the orb kept pace with them whatever they did! It always did this instantaneously. Martyn and Mark stared at the object for 5 minutes trying to work out what it was. After this time they became nervous of the object and so ran back to the tent without looking at it again. Safely back in the tent they then both discussed what they had seen. In the years following this sighting, Martyn apparently learned that there had been other similar sightings in the area. This is a fascinating sighting due to the fact the object appeared to be mimicking the witnesses movements. They are certain that it was actually moving and not just a distant light which was stationary. It was in land so could not have been a ships light out to sea. The instant movements it performed, combined with the fact that it was right over a hedge means it cannot have been someone playing with a torch trying to frighten the men. Martyn says that if it was a torch it would have cast light and shadows on the ground but there was nothing like this. It appeared to be a glowing sphere or object which was under intelligent control and for whatever reason was copying the movements of the witnesses. July 1995 – Sphere/Saucer UFO Sighting On an evening in July 1995, the family were on their way home from Alton Towers theme park. It was about 6pm, and the weather was dry but cloudy. The family were on holiday and staying at a nearby caravan park. Unfortunately Julie cannot remember the exact name and location of this park. Martyn was driving, Julie was in the passenger seat and Geraint, who was 8 years old at the time, was on the back seat behind Julie. Geraint's sister was sat behind Martyn. As the car approached the entrance of the caravan park, Julie and Geraint spotted something strange out of the car windows. There was a metallic object hovering just behind some nearby fir trees. It seemed to be rotating and was about 10-12 feet in diameter. Looking back at the incident, Julie and Geraint remember the shape of the object differently. Geraint remembers seeing a chrome coloured sphere. Julie remembers it being more disc shaped with a raised dome in the middle. The object was only visible for a moment before it descended downwards and was lost from sight behind the trees. Drawing by Geraint showing his view of the UFO out of the car window, and the direction in which it moved: 📷 Drawing by Geraint giving an overhead view of the sighting location, showing the position of the UFO and of the car: 📷 Discrepancies can sometimes occur with multiple witness sightings, so the fact the two witnesses remembered the object being a different shape is not really an issue. The object appeared too large to have been an inflatable of some kind, and it certainly did not appear to be any kind of conventional aircraft. July/August 1999-2001 – Silver Sphere Sighting It was mid afternoon on a bright sunny day in either late July or early August. The sky was mostly clear with only sporadic white clouds. There was a breeze blowing. Geraint, who between 12-14 years old at the time, was just setting off on his bike from home on Goitre Coed Road, Quakers Yard Treharris to travel round a friend’s house. Julie was standing on the front doorstep of the house telling him to watch out for traffic. The house has steps leading up to the front door, so Geraint was looking up at her. It was then that he noticed an object hovering in the sky over the house. He told his mother to look and she stepped outside to see what he was looking at. Aerial map of Goitre Coed Road: 📷 There about 100 feet high above them was a perfectly spherical silver ball. The sunlight was reflecting off its surface. The object was about the size of a large football. It was moving in a Westerly direction at a slow and steady speed. Julie noted that it appeared very controlled; it was not wobbling or changing speed at all as it went. They were both fascinated and puzzled by it, but not frightened. They agreed that it did not look like a balloon as it was a windy day but it was not bobbing around in the air. Julie said to Geraint “Smile, you’re on alien camera!” She says that for some reason she felt irritated that it was spying on them, but felt no danger from it. She did not think to run and get her camera; she was too busy watching the object. They both watched the sphere for several minutes until it had vanished from sight to the West of them. A short while later Julie rang the MOD and left a message on their answer phone reporting the object. She felt that it was ET in origin and that it should be logged. She never had a reply from them. Out of interest, she does mention that three days later a fast fighter jet flew at low altitude over the house heading to the South. This was the only time this had ever happened, before or since. This is an interesting sighting due to the appearance and movement of the object. Football-sized silver spheres are one of the more commonly reported types of UFO. Obviously some of these sightings will turn out to be nothing more than silver coloured balloons. However this does not appear to have been a balloon. It was a breezy day and ye the object was able to travel on a straight and level path for several minutes without changing speed or altitude. This sounds far too controlled to have been a balloon given the weather conditions at the time. The object had no visible means of propulsion or lift, and was also completely silent, so I find it unlikely that it was a radio controlled model or military drone. Perhaps the sphere really was observing them, or perhaps it was just passing by when they happened to catch sight of it, we are unlikely to ever know for sure. December 2010 – Glowing Silver Sphere Sighting It was 3pm on an afternoon in December 2010. Geraint was out driving on the A472 south of Quakers Yard with his girlfriend. It was a bright but cloudy day. As they approached an island, the couple suddenly noticed a glowing silver coloured spherical object in the sky to the North West. The object was clearly lower than the cloud layer and emitting light. They pulled off to the side of the road and got out of the car to continue watching the object. Aerial map showing the location of the UFO (A) and witnesses (B): 📷 Photograph of the sighting location in the direction the UFO was seen in: 📷 The witnesses watched the UFO for about 10 minutes. It remained stationary for a time, then slowly began to ascend. It then stopped moving and once more remained still. They watched it for a while longer before deciding to continue on their way as it was quite a cold day. It is unknown how long it remained in the area for. Again this is an interesting sighting. It seems unlikely that the object was a silver coloured balloon. The object seemed to be emitting light. As it was a cloudy day it is unlikely that this was caused by sunlight reflecting off the object, unless there was a break in the clouds. However the movement that the object performed seems too controlled for it to have been a balloon. It hovered completely still for a number of minutes, a balloon would surely have drifted in this amount of time. It is unlikely the object was a helicopter, even at a distance it is possible to make out the rough shape. We cannot rule out a strange remote controlled model in this instance, but this explanation sounds quite unlikely. I have investigated other cases of brightly glowing silver spheres. A recent case that comes to mind is the stunning multiple witness Blackmill sighting of July 1991 (available to read elsewhere in this blog). Conclusion The Symes family have had a number of very interesting UFO sightings, some of which displayed clearly controlled manoeuvres. They appear to have just been in the right place at the right time, I do not feel that the evidence currently points towards direct interaction from these objects. Hopefully they will keep in touch in case of any future sightings they may have. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2011

  • 12/05/2011 - Perth - Glowing Orb Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 22/05/2011 Sighting Details On the evening of 12th May 2011 Alexander was on the M11 bus with his girlfriend. It was a dark and cloudy evening, and quite cold. He is not aware of the exact time, he thinks it was around 9pm. The bus was on Leonard Road and just arriving at Perth Bus Station. He looked out of the window on the left side of the bus to the East. In the distance he noticed a bright white light in the sky. The light was travelling at a fast pace across the sky, heading in the same direction the bus was moving in. It appeared to be at high altitude. Aerial map showing the location of Perth bus station: 📷 Photograph showing the entrance to Perth bus station: 📷 Alexander pointed the light out to his girlfriend, but not to the other passengers on the bus. The bus briefly pulled into Perth bus station, and while it was there Alexander watched the light continuing on a straight level course. It went out of sight just as the bus began to leave the station. He wondered what the object could have been. Sighting Analysis When Alexander initially spotted the object it reminded him of a comet or satellite. However I do not feel that either of these explanations is adequate. As it was a cloudy night, this means that the object must have been in the atmosphere and below the level of the clouds. An object up in space would not have been seen. It seemed too bright to be a satellite, and if it was a comet passing the Earth this would have been widely known about. It was moving too slowly to be a meteorite, these only last a second as they cross the night sky. Sometimes helicopters or planes with their landing lights on can look like a singular extremely bright light at a distance. The object did not perform any manoeuvres which would suggest it wasn’t a conventional aircraft, so this could possibly be an explanation for what was seen. However as with many other sightings of glowing lights after dark, it is hard to say for certain what was witnessed. Perhaps it was an ET craft but there is nothing really to suggest that it was, it is more likely to have been something man made. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2011

  • August 2009 - St Albans - White Light Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Report Author: Dave Hodrien Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Release Date: 25/05/2011 In some cases no actual UFO or beings are seen, but there is the indication that there might have been something out of the ordinary in the vicinity. This is how it was with this incident, which occurred in St Albans in August 2009. Names in this report have been changed for privacy reasons. Incident Details Early in the hours of the morning in August 2009, Heather had just got into bed. It was 1am, and she was lying down clearing her mind and preparing to fall off to sleep. Her dog was also curled up on the bed cover. Suddenly without warning her bedroom was lit up in an extremely bright white light that appeared to be coming in from the bedroom window. At the same time she felt a feeling of static electricity in the air, and heard a low humming sound. The dog did not seem overly concerned by what was going on, but was staring towards the window. Heather was quite frightened but also curious. She got out of bed and went to her window to try and see the source of the light. However it was too bright and she could not make anything out. It appeared to be coming from between 10-20 feet away from her. She stayed by the window for what seemed to her up to 10 minutes but in reality was probably just 3-5. Then almost instantaneously the light faded and her room returned to darkness. After it had gone Heather stayed awake for at least half an hour thinking about what she had just seen and what could explain it. She had read about UFOs before and wondered whether this was what had caused the light. Incident Analysis There are several aspects to this case which are very interesting and point towards a UFO being behind the light that Heather saw. Firstly there is nothing conventional which can really explain the light. Heather was definitely awake at the time as she got out of bed and was staring at the light for a number of minutes. Her pet dog also seemed interested in it so it was not something that she was imagining or due to a medical condition. The light was extremely bright, much too bright to have been caused by a normal light source. As it suddenly came on outside her upper floor bedroom window, and she has never seen anything like it before or since, search lights or other stationary lights can be put out of the question. It must have been a moving object that arrived, remained for a number of minutes and then departed. It could not have been a helicopter because firstly she would have heard it at that close range, and even if it was bright it would still have been possible to see the rough shape of the helicopter or other lights on it. The static electricity she felt in the air and the low humming sound she heard have both often been reported by witnesses who have been in close proximity to UFOs. These are probably both caused by the field generated around the craft which enables it to perform incredible manoeuvres and move at stunning speeds. When the light suddenly vanished, this could have been a craft leaving the area extremely fast. So if it was a genuine ET craft, what was it doing there? Many contact cases begin with a visitation by ETs, and then the individual is usually taken aboard a craft. Perhaps they intended to abduct Heather and then did not for whatever reason. Maybe they expected her to be asleep and did not take her because she was still awake. There is of course the possibility that she was abducted, and then the full memories of this experience were blocked out. However there is no indication at present that this was the case. She did not notice any missing time, saw the light both appear and vanish, and did not feel in any way strange afterwards. Perhaps going forward Heather will decide to be hypnotically regressed to see if anything else occurred. For the moment we can just speculate. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2011

  • September 1992 - Huddersfield - Multi-Coloured Lights Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Release Date: 27/05/2011 This report covers a fascinating case where a formation of unexplained lights were seen in the skies over Huddersfield in September of 1992 by a man walking his dogs. These lights appeared to be attached to a single large object which was hidden from view by the clouds. It later transpired that there had been many other witnesses to the same lights. Sighting Details Late one evening Ken Wilson was out walking his dogs at Cowlersley on the outskirts of Huddersfield. It was an overcast night with complete cloud cover. It was dry but cold, with a slight breeze blowing. It was about 10-10.30pm. Ken lived on Rose Avenue. A short footpath leads through to the end of Main Avenue. Ken would regularly let his dogs off the leads to have a run around in the grassy field at the end of Main Avenue. Photograph of the footpath between Rose Avenue and Main Avenue: 📷 Ken was waiting at the end of the road for the dogs to return. There was nobody else around, probably due to the weather conditions. He looked towards the centre of Huddersfield, roughly 3 miles away to the North East. Aerial map showing the route that Ken took and the sighting location: 📷 It was now that he noticed a ring of revolving multi coloured lights over the area. The lights appeared to be just inside the cloud layer. They were at an angle of 40 degrees from his location. He estimated they were between 1500-2000 feet high. The lights were all pulsating and changing colours between white, green, blue and red, although at a distance they looked mostly red. They were rotating in a clockwise direction. At first Ken assumed they were a laser light display from the local football stadium, however they did seem too close for it to have been from this, as the stadium was about 4-5 miles away. Also there were no beams visible in the air, just the lights. Photograph of the sighting location in the direction Ken saw the lights: 📷 Ken was puzzled by the lights. He watched them for about 10 minutes. The lights continued revolving in the same location. He then decided to head for home. He called the dogs, which quickly came running past him and disappeared along the path towards Rose Avenue. Ken turned and began to walk along the path himself. A moment later, curiosity overcame him and once more he glanced back at the lights. He rested his elbows on a wall and continued to watch them intently. After about a minute and a half, the lights suddenly began moving in his direction! Ken was surprised by this new development. The lights were now moving at about the same speed as a light aircraft, and still rotating as they went. After about 45 seconds they had got nearer and Ken now noticed other lights. There was what appeared to be a curvy line of white glowing orbs starting around the centre of the ring of multi coloured lights in the direction the lights were travelling in. It seemed to Ken that these were a bit lower than the ring of lights and were separate objects which were leading the main object. They also appeared to be 2-3 times as big as the multi-coloured lights. Witness drawing of the unexplained lights: 📷 It took a further 45 seconds before the lights reached his location. As they approached, Ken ducked down behind the wall. He was a little frightened that whatever it was would see him. The lights travelled overhead and continued on the same path until they had gone out of sight to the West in the direction of the Holm Valley. They were completely silent throughout. Ken felt certain that they were attached to an object inside the cloud layer rather than lights being projected onto the base of the clouds. Once the lights had disappeared, Ken continued his walk home. He got back about 10.25pm, and was greeted by his dogs who had ran all the way back. Later his wife returned home and he explained what he had seen. She did not really believe him, neither did his work mates in the morning. However the following evening they were in a local pub when another of his friends turned up. He asked them whether they had seen the newspaper. When they informed him they had not, he took out one from his pocket. On the front page was an article entitled “Light Show In The Sky”. It seemed that earlier on the previous day many other people witnessed the lights over on the opposite side of Huddersfield! Some of the claims in the article seemed rather dubious. One person had claimed that they tried to photograph the lights and when they did their camera exploded! Ken has checked through the newspaper archives down his local library but so far has been unable to track down the article, probably due to how long ago the incident took place. Or perhaps he has the date of when it occurred incorrect. If he does manage to find it he will send me a copy to add to this report. Sighting Analysis This is a very interesting sighting indeed, and has many unusual aspects to it. The most obvious explanation for a ring of revolving lights on a cloudy night is exactly what Ken initially suspected was responsible – a projected laser display from somewhere. However this could not have been the case as the lights moved not only in his direction, but right overhead and away into the distance. This meant that they must have travelled at least 6 miles, and so were clearly not being projected from a particular location on the ground. They were certainly artificial in nature, and the fact they were in a revolving circle formation suggests that they were part of a singular object hidden from view in the clouds. The way in which the object was hidden from view could of course have been intentional. So if the lights were attached to an object, what was it? Obviously this configuration does not fit in with it being a conventional aircraft of any kind. The diameter of the lights seemed to be too large for it to have been a radio controlled model, and if it was a hoax model UFO of some kind there would have been no reason to hide it away inside the clouds, it would have been flown in plain sight to increase the impact. Could it have been an electronically lit inflatable? This seems unlikely due to the movement pattern of the object. It remained stationary for many minutes before suddenly moving on a straight and level course. This suggests it was under control rather than randomly drifting. Of course the revolving ring of lights were not the only thing that was witnessed. What can be made of the white glowing orbs of light seemingly moving in synch with the main object? Could these have been placed at various points along a wire that was towing the main object? Possibly, but if this were the case the only thing that could have been towing it would be a helicopter. The object went right overhead and was completely silent, and no other lights were seen, so I do not believe it was this. The whole idea of a helicopter flying inside a cloud towing an object covered in flashing revolving lights sounds pretty unlikely to begin with. Most explanations for the lights can be disregarded for one reason or another. But could they have been on the underside of a disc or saucer shaped UFO? This could explain how they were able to hover for a time then move off on a course, and why they were silent when they went overhead. Perhaps the white orbs of light seen were also part of this craft and jutting out. However it seems more likely that they were separate smaller objects which were leading the main object for whatever reason. As with most UFO sightings there is nothing that proves that the origin of the object was extraterrestrial, however it was clearly far from conventional. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2011

  • November 2002 - London - Domed Disc UFO Landing

Birmingham UFO Group Report Author: Dave Hodrien Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Release Date: 20/06/2011 In June 2011 a man named Brian Seers got in touch with me via Richplanet.net about a possible UFO landing that he and his friends witnessed back in November 2002 in London. Unfortunately he did not send through any additional details after the initial correspondence, so at present this is all that is known about what took place. Incident Details It was a cold but clear night in November 2002. Brian and three friends were out doing some after dark fishing. It was 9.15pm and they were all sitting along the bank. Brian turned round and noticed a strange looking object on the ground. It was about 25 feet away from them, and looked like a large disc-shaped object with a raised dome on the top. It was completely black in colour and there were no markings or lighting on it. It was about 12-13 feet across and 10 foot in depth. Brian did not approach the object but informed his friends about it. When they turned round and also saw the object they appeared to become panicked. They quickly packed up their fishing gear and left the area, and Brian headed away with them. He has no idea how long the object remained in the area for, but when he returned to the location it was no longer there. Incident Analysis Could the object seen have actually been a landed UFO in close proximity to the witnesses? It certainly appeared to be a “classic” flying saucer shape. It is unknown at present if it was really black in colour or if this was just because it was after dark and in shadow. It certainly appeared unusual to the witnesses, and spooked some of them enough to get them to leave the area rather than approach it. The actions of the men do sound unusual; I would have expected at least some of them to approach it to make sure whether it really was a landed craft or something else. As none of them did go right up to it, we cannot rule out the possibility that it was something mundane that was placed there temporarily. Perhaps it was an unusual model or modern art sculpture, or perhaps some kind of container. You may feel that this sounds unlikely, but it is very easy to mistake a mundane object for something more unusual, especially after dark. The object did not move at all, did not have any lighting on it and was completely silent, so other than the apparent shape of the object and the fact that it was only there temporarily, there is nothing else which would suggest it actually was a landed craft. Unfortunately we will probably never know whether this really was a UFO landing or just a case of misidentification, but it is an interesting case none the less. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2011

  • August 2005 - Bridport - White Orb Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Release Date: 02/07/2011 Sighting Details On a clear sunny afternoon in August 2005 shop re-fitter Toni Cliff was working alongside a number of others on the M&Co clothing shop, East Street, Bridport. It was a week day early in the month but Toni cannot remember the exact date. The sky above was completely cloudless; it was a warm day with no wind. It was between 1-2pm in the afternoon. Aerial map of East Street showing the sighting location: 📷 Photograph of M&Co: 📷 Toni and his three work mates Steven, Charlie and Martin were at the rear of the shop having a tea break. Above them in the sky was a bird. Steven asked Toni what kind of a bird it was. He replied that it was a buzzard. They continued to stare up into the sky. Then Toni noticed a white spherical object. It was almost directly overhead, but off to his right a short way. It looked like it was at high altitude, and appeared to be about the size of a car. He asked Steven “Can you see that up there?” Steven replied that he could. At first the object appeared to be moving on a straight and level course to the North. It appeared to be moving at a very fast speed. Toni estimates it was moving three times as fast as a jet airliner. Then suddenly the sphere seemed to rapidly ascend at a sharp angle for a moment, before levelling out again. As the men watched it continued to make these abrupt stepping manoeuvres. After about 30 seconds the object suddenly turned sharply to the East. It continued heading East for a short distance and then seemed to fade out of sight, despite the fact that it was a clear day with good visibility. The men discussed what they had just seen and after a few minutes the realisation that they had witnessed a UFO began to sink in. Later back home Toni thought about the object again and it bothered him, he felt vulnerable and was a little scared. Soon afterwards he told his family what he had seen. They believed him although suggested it was down to misidentification of a mundane object. Toni still remembers the incident extremely clearly. Unfortunately he has not kept in touch with Steven, the other witness to the object, so I am not able to speak with him regarding the sighting unless he reads this and gets in touch. Sighting Analysis If the object had just been travelling on a straight course, this sighting could have been put down to a white coloured balloon caught in high altitude air currents. However the manoeuvres it was making appeared to be controlled rather than random. Also we must take into consideration that if it was at the altitude it appeared to be then it would have had to have been quite large to have been seen from the ground. It appeared to be moving extremely rapidly, much faster than something drifting in the wind would, and it was a still day so the likelihood it was extremely breezy at higher altitude is low. It is possible that it was not white, but was metallic and reflecting the sunlight. However Toni does not elude to this possibility, to him it appeared white in colour. I feel that the aspects of the sighting point towards it being something out of the ordinary. Sightings of white/metallic spherical UFOs are regularly reported all around the world. There is the possibility that this was a genuine advanced craft, perhaps of extraterrestrial origin. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2011

  • Summer 1984 - Liverpool - Silver UFO Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Report Author: Dave Hodrien Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Release Date: 02/07/2011 This report is about a fascinating incident that happened to a man named David from Liverpool. The UFO seen in this case was not high up in the sky, it appeared to be right over the roof of the witness’s house! Incident Details It was early morning in the summer of 1984. David was woken from his sleep around 5.30am to some very loud and strange sounds. He could hear a loud humming and whooshing sound that was making the whole bedroom seem to vibrate. The noise seemed to be coming from directly over the roof of the house. His wife was lying in bed next to him but for some reason could not hear the sounds and remained asleep. Frightened by the sound, David jumped up out of bed. He ran to the window and peered upward to see if he could spot the source of the noise. It was a bright sunny morning. Looking up he saw the curved edge of some enormous object. The object was silver-ish in colour. It appeared to be absolutely huge, easily bigger than just his own property, although as he could only see one edge of it he could not verify this for certain. The object appeared to be at a height of about 50 feet. Between 10-15 seconds went by, during which David just stared in fear and awe at the part of the object which was in view. Then without warning the object shifted slightly. A moment later it vanished from sight and the noise completely stopped. Immediately afterwards David heard the sound of a siren going off at the local fire station. He noticed that the street was deserted and the whole area seemed un-naturally quiet, not even the birds were singing. David was extremely scared by what he had just witnessed. He ran through into his children’s room, expecting them to be awake and also frightened by the noise, but they were fast asleep. He was very confused by the fact that only he had been awoken by the loud noise, both his wife and children had slept through the whole thing. In the morning he decided to keep what he had seen to himself. He got ready for work and as he got into his car he noticed the birds were now starting to sing. At work he could not stop thinking about what had occurred. One of his neighbours named Peter would regularly walk his pet dogs every morning. David wondered if he too had witnessed the object. He could barely wait to get home to question him. When he returned home, David went and knocked on his door and asked him if he had seen or heard anything strange that morning while walking the dogs. He looked at David and said to him “Do you know what Dave, believe it or not I overslept today for some reason and that is the first time in ten years!” David found this very strange; it was like he had been stopped from waking on purpose so that he would not witness the UFO. David did not tell his children about the experience until 2009. He felt foolish telling them and they didn’t really believe him. Incident Analysis This is quite an interesting experience for a number of reasons. The apparent size of the object puts most mundane explanations out of the question. It seems like the sound was definitely coming from the object, David could sense that it was coming from above him even before he looked out of the window. The only mundane explanation I can think of would be a powered blimp at low altitude. However to assume it was this would be illogical. Why would someone be flying a blimp over the houses that early in the morning and at such a low height? Surely that would be illegal due to the noise pollution? Also if it was a blimp it would not have suddenly vanished as it did. The object left and the sound abruptly stopped, indicating it had left the area at tremendous speed. If it really was a blimp this would not have happened, it would have slowly glided away. Another fascinating aspect is that David’s wife, children and neighbour all seem to have been put into a state during which they did not awake. It was as if the object did not want people to witness it, or only wanted David to observe it. Surely with such a loud noise taking place they should have woken up exactly like David did? The most puzzling is what happened to David’s neighbour Peter – he would usually be up around that time to walk the dogs but on that particular morning had overslept. It seems like far too much of a coincidence. In many contact cases it has been reported that the ETs have seemingly shut down other people in the area. This is probably done so that they will not be witnessed and so that they can go about their business without interference. Perhaps this is what took place here. We can even speculate that David may have experienced contact beforehand, and that the object he saw was the craft which had just returned him to his house. However there is not much evidence to back up this theory, David does not feel like anything else occurred. So the incident remains largely a mystery, but at the very least we can say that something clearly out of the ordinary took place. Unfortunately David has not got back in touch with any additional information so for now this is as much as I know about what happened. If he does get back to me then the report will be updated. • 2009 - "Flying Car" Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 02/07/2011 In June 2011 Pat McDermott got in touch with me about a very strange sighting that his wife and daughter had experienced back in 2009. This report covers the incident and my thoughts on what took place. Unfortunately Pat has not got back in touch so only limited information is known about this incident. For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used for some witnesses Incident Details At some point in 2009 Pat, his wife Dianne and daughter Emily were on their way back home in their car. Pat has not provided me with the location where this incident took place. Pat was driving; Dianne was in the passenger seat and Emily on the back seat. Suddenly Dianne exclaimed “Look there’s a flying car!” She was looking out of the passenger side window. Emily looked out and saw what she was referring to. Pat tried to see but due to the angle could not, and did not stop the car to take a look. His wife and daughter described it as an old Ford Station Wagon. They began laughing, assuming that it was a UFO and that the aliens inside had disguised it as a car without realising that cars don’t fly. The whole thing sounded so farfetched to Pat that he did not believe them at the time. Photograph of a Ford Station Wagon car: 📷 In early June 2011 he was discussing the incident with Dianne. They decided to go online and see if anyone else had ever reported anything similar. They were astounded when they came across a article reporting that back in 1969 a lady and her daughter from Alice Springs, Australia had not only seen a UFO shaped like a car, but it too had looked like a Ford Station Wagon. Here was an article from the other side of the world speaking about a near identical sighting! Australian Sighting Article I too was able to track down the article that Pat and Dianne found. It exists on the Ntnews.com.au website. Below is this article in full: UFO cut off my car Nick Calacouras, September 11th, 2010 A woman claims she was cut off by two alien beings in a spaceship shaped like a Ford station wagon - before it took off surrounded by green, blue and red flames. It was just one of the stories to come out after ABC morning show presenter Leon Compton opened up the airwaves to UFO believers. Betty from Alice Springs said her close encounter occurred in 1969. She was driving 20km south of Aileron towards Alice Springs at 4am with her six year old daughter when they saw the vehicle "flying alongside us". "We saw these two figures inside this thing. It looked like a Ford station wagon, with the windows. It came in front of us really quickly." Her daughter then said, "There's nothing to be afraid of." "I said, 'Why did you say that?' She said, 'I don't know, it just came out of my mouth'. "And as I was talking, the whole think took off like a shot out of a gun...and then there was all this green and blue and red flames or lights all around it." “I'll never forget it.” (Source: http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2010/09/11/178671_ntnews.html) Incident Analysis The way in which Pat described the sighting to me means I do not have any questions over its authenticity. I feel quite sure that his wife and daughter really did see what appeared to be a flying car in the sky. However I am far from convinced that it was a UFO disguising itself as such. It has been seen in many different cases that the ETs do have the ability to mask either their own appearance or the appearance of their craft. This is commonly referred to as a screen memory. However this would generally occur as part of a contact experience involving direct interaction between the ETs and the witness. It is unlikely that they would have projected such an image into the minds of Dianne and Emily (and presumably anyone else who happened to notice it). Also I find it extremely unlikely that an advanced ET species would make the mistake of disguising their craft as a land based vehicle, this is quite illogical. However, considering the fact that there was another report describing a near identical UFO back in 1969, we should not put out of the question that it was a genuine craft, just one that happened to look very similar to a Ford Station Wagon. You may feel this sounds too ridiculous to believe, but if the case from Alice Springs is real then Dianne and Emily may have seen a similar object. But there is also another possibility, one which sounds more probable. I feel that rather than observe a UFO, Pat’s wife and daughter may have seen a novelty hot air balloon shaped like a car. Or perhaps it was a helium filled car shaped inflatable which had been used at a museum or celebration and had broken free from its tether and so was drifting across the sky. This seems a far more plausible explanation, considering the rarity of sightings of this type. Out of interest I have had a look around the net to see what else I could find on flying car sightings. I came across an apparent floating car seen in Perth on Google Earth! • 2010 - Washington, England - White Orb Sighting

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Release Date: 02/07/2011 This report covers a sighting which took place in the skies over Washington. One of the two witnesses to this incident, named Thomas Pearson, got in touch with me via Richplanet.net. Sighting Details It was a clear and still evening in 2010. The sky was clear of cloud and the stars could be seen. Thomas and his work mate Ryan (name changed for privacy reasons) were driving home from work. It was 10.35pm when they arrived at Victoria Road where Ryan lives. Thomas stopped the car to let him out. At this point both men noticed a glowing object ahead of them in the sky, and slightly off to their left over a housing estate. It appeared to be about 600 yards from their location and was at quite low altitude, about the height a helicopter would fly at. The object appeared as a circular glowing white orb of light. Thomas estimates it was about 7-8 feet in diameter. It was moving on a straight and level path and travelling about 30 mph. Aerial map of Victoria Road: 📷 Thomas wound down his window to listen for any sound, but could hear nothing, the object appeared to be silent. By this time Ryan had got out of the car and was attempting to film the object on his mobile phone camera. However the camera could not focus properly on the object. The UFO was moving in their direction. As it approached they discussed it, wondering what it could be. It had no other lights on it, and did not look like a helicopter or plane. It also appeared to be too large to be a lantern. After about 30 seconds suddenly the light on the object went out. However they could still see it silhouetted against the sky. A few seconds later it suddenly shot straight upwards at an extremely fast speed and was lost from sight. When it did this the men knew immediately that it had not been any conventional aircraft or other mundane object. They checked back the footage but unfortunately it was very bad as the camera had not been able to focus on the object. Ryan decided to delete the footage off his phone. This is a shame, as even if it was out of focus it would have been interesting to see. The following day they told their friends at work about the sighting, but they did not believe them and thought they were taking the mick. Sighting Analysis I receive many sightings of glowing orbs of light after dark. Generally these can be put down to Chinese lanterns or LED balloons, both of which are becoming increasingly popular. If it wasn’t for the incredible manoeuvre that the object made I would certainly have put the sighting down to a white coloured LED balloon. However the fact that the light went out and then moments later it shot straight upwards means that it cannot have been any kind of inflatable. Chinese lanterns do go out in the manner described, but when they do they are then either not seen at all or are seen to slowly float to the ground as there is no longer a source of hot air to keep them afloat. It could not have been a helicopter as it was silent, and left the area too rapidly. Also there would be no reason for a helicopter to turn all its lights off in the manner that was seen. The manoeuvre seen appears to designate intelligence, and I feel that the most likely explanation is that it was an unusual craft of some kind. It was not massive in size so may have been un-manned. Small spherical UFOs have been reported on many occasions and I believe them to have an observational/monitoring purpose It could well have been one of these that the witnesses saw. Thomas has not stayed in touch with Ryan but has provided me with a lead to follow up on. If I manage to get hold of him then his side of the story may be added to this report. At present we just have Thomas’ word to go on. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2011
