Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Last Updated: 19/05/2013 For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used for some witnesses Introduction Paul Black first got in touch with BUFOG via phone on the morning of 28th February 2013. He was quite concerned by a strange triangular-shaped marking which had seemingly appeared on his right arm during the night. This was not the first marking to have appeared on him. On other occasions since mid 2012, he had discovered other unusual markings. He had also experienced two UFO sightings and numerous incidents around his home which potentially were paranormal in nature. Due to his location I was not able to visit Paul directly. Thankfully he sent through some photographs of the markings for my analysis. They are viewable later in this report. Metallic UFO Sighting The unusual activity noticed by Paul seemed to kick off with the sighting of a UFO on a bright sunny day in July 2012. It was about 4.30pm. Paul and his wife Susan were on their way home from a friend’s house in their car. They were about 3 minutes drive from home. Susan was driving and Paul was in the passenger seat. The road was relatively quiet at the time, but there were a few other vehicles around. Paul glanced out of the passenger side window to the East, and happened to notice a strange object in the sky visible between two houses. The object was hovering completely still. It appeared to be around 200 yards from the road and 100 feet in the air. The object was metallic silver in colour and shiny, possibly due to reflection of the sunlight. It looked quite small in size, possibly 3-4 feet in diameter. Paul only saw the object for a couple of seconds before it was lost from sight behind the houses due to the movement of the car. He was not able to accurately see the shape of the object. Paul was intrigued by the object, and almost immediately asked his wife to pull over the car. He jumped out and ran back to where he had seen the object but it had vanished. Initially he had thought it was possibly an aerial of some kind, but the fact it was now gone meant it could not have been. Due to the fact that the object seemed relatively small in size, I asked Paul whether he felt it could have been a balloon or other inflatable. He does not believe it could have been this, due to the fact that the object was motionless in the air. It was too high to be a balloon being held by someone on the ground, and too low down to have been an inflatable up in the sky such as a weather balloon. It is possible that the object was a remote controlled model which had flown out of sight by the time he returned, but we are unlikely to ever know for sure. Rugby Ball-Shaped UFO Sighting Paul’s second UFO sighting occurred in September/October 2012. He was at home at the time on Garden City Carlton, and was upstairs in the bedroom. It was roughly 11am. Paul decided to look out of the window. Outside it was a normal autumn day, still and with scattered cloud. He noticed a dark object moving in a Westerly direction over a nearby block of flats. The object appeared to be about 5 feet across, and was shaped like a rugby ball, at least from the location Paul was situated. The object was moving quite slowly, about 5-10 mph. It was travelling on a direct course and did not change speed or direction at all. Photograph taken from the sighting location with the UFO and movement path drawn on top: Paul watched the object for about 5-6 seconds until it had gone out of sight. Once it had gone he immediately felt on edge and found he was shaking. He thought to himself “Oh God, what the hell was that?” He called Susan upstairs and told her what he had seen. She confirmed that she had not seen the object. Later on, Paul called his local police station to ask if anyone else had reported the object. According to the police, no other reports had been made. While this sighting sounds unusual, it is not possible to fully rule out a balloon/inflatable as the explanation. Just as with Paul’s first sighting the object was relatively small in size. It appeared to be under control and flying on a straight course. However if a balloon is caught in an air current it can travel on a straight course in this manner. The object did not perform any advanced manoeuvres which would indicate intelligence. Despite this, Paul’s reaction to the object is fully understandable, especially after seeing something else unexplained several months before. Body Markings Since late 2012 both Paul and his son Nicolas have woken up on several occasions with markings/lumps which have not been adequately explained. Sometimes these have seemed linked to dreams they have had around the time. The first of these was quite dramatic due to extensive bruising surrounding it. In late October or early November 2012 Paul remembers having a strange dream. In this dream someone was doing something to his lower chest area which was extremely painful. He awoke in the morning and felt completely fine. However two or three days later Paul rubbed his stomach and felt a lump. When he checked he could see a small raised reddish lump on his stomach. He was a little concerned by this so decided to visit his GP. His doctor dismissed the lump as fatty tissue. The following morning upon checking the lump Paul was shocked to see extensive bruising in a ring around it. When he touched the lump he found that the skin on the top of it was beginning to peel off. He decided to return to his doctor. The doctor had no idea of what could have caused the bruising, but prescribed him some anti-biotics. Photograph of the lump and bruising taken on the day of discovery: It took about 5 days for the bruising to vanish, but the lump still exists today. It is about the size of a marble. Paul feels that the doctor’s initial diagnosis was incorrect, as fatty tissue does not create bruising like that which occurred. It certainly appears that he suffered some kind of trauma which has not yet been explained. In mid-January 2013 Paul noticed another reddish lump on the top of his lower left arm. It was about 2cm across. He had no idea of how long it had been there, whether it had occurred during that night or had been there for a number of days. Like the one on his stomach, this lump still exists today, so it is unlikely to be an inflamed spot or insect bite as this would have healed. Photograph of the lump on Paul’s left arm: On Friday 22nd February Nicolas was playing at a local park when he fell over hurting his head. The following morning he woke up complaining that his hip and groin were hurting. At first Paul and Susan decided not to act on this, but by dinner-time a large red lump, about 5 inches across, had appeared in Nicolas’ groin. Paul and Susan took him to the hospital. After being examined, a doctor confirmed that the lump was due to blood pooling inside his groin due to an injury. He said it would take over two weeks to heal, and would go solid before it did. However the following morning the lump had completely vanished, with only a slight itching sensation left behind. Two days later on the morning of Tuesday 26th February Nicolas informed his parents that he had had a strange dream during the night. In this dream he said that the family were out in their car. He looked up into the air and saw a pale grey coloured pole-shaped object. He got out of the car and climbed onto it, and then went flying on it. While flying, it bounced off the wall of a local Tesco’s store near to where they live. In the dream, only he could see the object, it was not visible to Paul or Susan. It is unknown if this had anything to do with what had happened several days previously, or if it was nothing more than a dream. For the following few days after having this dream, Paul and Susan noticed some differences in their son’s behaviour. He started to ask for his bedroom light to be left on at night, something which he would not usually do. Also he seemed to be sleeping in longer than usual. Most mornings he would be up between 5-7am, but for these days he had to be woken up around 8.30am. These behavioural changes are interesting. While they could be nothing more than coincidence, it should be noted that contactees often get a fear of going to sleep at night and of the dark. This is probably because they are aware that this is when they have been visited or taken. On Thursday 28th February 2013 it was Paul’s turn to awake with an unusual marking. He noticed a small reddish marking, about 3cm across, in the rough shape of a triangle on the bottom of his right forearm. In the middle of it appeared to be an open puncture mark. When he touched it, it was stinging slightly like the skin had been taken off. He had been drinking the evening before so cannot be absolutely certain it was not on his arm when he went to bed, but he does not recall bumping his arm or doing anything which could have been responsible for the marking. There is also nothing sharp near to his bed which he could have accidentally struck during the night. Photograph of the marking on Paul’s right arm: Paul showed the marking to his wife. When he did so, she informed him that during the night she had awoke about 2am with the sense of a presence in the room. She felt like she was being watched. She sat up in bed and looked around but could not see anything out of the ordinary, and so settled back down to sleep. It is unknown whether this is relevant in any way regarding the appearance of the marking, but contactees often describe feeling like they are being watched, sometimes just prior to a contact experience. Paul was amazed by how straight edged the marking appeared. It did not look like something natural, such as a spot or blister. Within a day the open puncture-like area had a thin scab over it. By 6th March the marking was still visible but had begun to heal. Paranormal Activity After seeing the metallic UFO, unusual things seemed to start happening around Paul’s home. This was interesting as they had lived at the property for several years with nothing odd taking place. Within weeks of the UFO sighting, Paul heard two unexplained noises on the same night. The first of these occurred around 10pm, while he was in the bedroom alone watching TV. It sounded like a quiet low pitched gong being struck outside but close to the house. Paul heard it three times in succession. Susan was watching TV downstairs at the time. When Paul asked her, she confirmed that she had not heard the sound and that it had not been coming from what she was watching. That night Paul and his son Nicolas stayed up late. It was around 2.40am and they were both in the bedroom watching TV. Suddenly they heard the chiming sound again. Like earlier it repeated three times but this time it was both louder and higher in pitch. It reminded Paul of church bells. Nicolas asked him “Did you hear that dad?” Paul replied “What? The bell sound?” to which Nicolas replied “Yes”. Recently Paul asked Nicolas about the incident, and he can still remember being puzzled by the sounds. Paul does not believe that the sounds were coming from a nearby vehicle or equipment on the ground, as he has not heard anything like it before or since. They live quite close to a church, but it is extremely unlikely that the church bells were being rang in the middle of the night. Soon afterwards, on another night, Paul and his wife were lying in bed watching TV with the light off. It was about 11pm when suddenly they both heard what sounded like deep male laughter. It sounded like it was right next to them within the room. Susan thought Paul had made the noise until she asked him and he confirmed that he had not made the sound and had heard it too. When asked whether it could have originated from outside the house, such as a neighbour, Paul informed me that there was a middle aged woman living next door who rarely had visitors, and that the noise had sounded too close to them to have come from outside. Later in the year, between mid-October and early November, on 6 separate occasions Paul heard what sounded like a young boy speaking. It always occurred upstairs, sometimes in the evening when he was lying in bed and at other times during the day. On one occasion Paul was in the bathroom and heard what sounded like talking coming from elsewhere in the house. He assumed it was Susan talking with Nicolas. After he exited the bathroom he asked Susan if Nicolas wanted him, to which she replied that he was asleep in bed and had not been making any sounds at all. On all the other occasions Paul heard a voice exclaim “Dad!” It always seemed to come from the landing, but when he went to check there would be nothing there. Nicolas always denied making the sounds. The voice sounded a little similar to his son, but not identical. Paul wonders to this day what caused these voices and why they occurred for several weeks but then ceased. On intermittent occasions since September 2012, Paul’s main bedroom light has dimmed by itself for a couple of seconds before returning to normal brightness. Paul asked his neighbour if she had been experiencing any electrical disturbances to make sure there was no problem with the electrics in the area. She confirmed that all the lights in her property were working fine. This could of course be down to a fault in the wiring, however it is interesting that it began after Paul’s UFO sighting, and had never occurred before. One night in late 2012, Nicolas awoke in the early hours of the morning absolutely terrified. He came through into Paul and Susan’s room with wide eyes. He was clearly very agitated and kept staring at the bedroom door saying that there was a shadowy figure staring at him with outstretched arms. Neither Paul or Susan could see anything, but for a good while Nicolas was adamant it was there. In the end they were able to settle him back off to sleep. After looking online, Paul and Susan came to the conclusion that he had experienced a night terror, something which I would fully agree on as the most likely explanation. Because of the unusual incidents the family had been experiencing, in early February 2013 Paul and Susan decided to set up a webcam in their bedroom while they slept. Each morning Paul would skip through the footage to see if anything unusual had been captured. One morning when he played back the footage he heard some brief chuckling sounds. They sounded very similar to the male laughter they had previously heard in the room but were not as loud. On a different night the webcam picked up a glowing orb of light which only lasted a couple of seconds before vanishing. At present the footage is uncompressed and is too large for Paul to send it me directly, but I hope to find a way to obtain it soon so it can be analysed and added to this report. Black & White One day in early February 2013, Paul was alone in his bedroom. He looked out of his bedroom window at the local neighbourhood. It was a very cold but clear day, and there was snow on the ground. He then noticed something white fluttering in the air. It was about 10 feet from the window and appeared to be about 4 inches across. He initially thought it was a white butterfly, and turned around. As he did he asked himself “A butterfly in this weather?” He turned back round to see if it was still visible. He happened to look down towards the road at this moment. The white object was nowhere to be seen, but down on the road Paul caught sight of a dark shape. He briefly saw what appeared to be a large black animal of some kind cross the road and enter a neighbour’s garden. It looked too large to be a cat or badger. Paul says there is the possibility that it was a large black dog roaming freely, but he has never seen one in the neighbourhood before or since. Photograph of the sighting location with the black thing drawn on top: The entire incident seemed very odd indeed to Paul. First of all he’d seen a white flying object which he could not identify. And then moments later seen a black shape cross the road which looked like nothing he had ever seen before. There is no evidence that the two were related, but is interesting that they occurred directly after one another. Face & Small Being Photograph On 1st March 2013 between 10-10.30pm Paul’s wife Susan was dropping Kerry, a family friend, back to her home on Cross Street in Carlton, Nottingham. It was a cloudy evening and quite cold. Kerry was in the passenger seat of the car. When Susan pulled the car into the drive of Kerry’s house, Kerry got out and walked round the front of the car heading towards the gate. Suddenly she stopped and looked in the direction of the hedge in front of her. She beckoned to Susan who was about to drive off. Susan got out of the car too and walked to where Kerry was standing. Aerial map showing the location on Cross Street where the photograph was taken: Daylight photograph showing the hedge which Kerry was staring at: Kerry asked Susan if she had a camera on her to take a picture. Susan got out her Sony Xperia Tipo mobile camera phone and took a photo in the direction Kerry was looking. When Susan looked she could see what appeared to be a small creature of some kind standing in the grass below the hedge. It wasn’t moving and she was not frightened by it, just curious. She assumed that this is what her friend was also looking at. They stopped looking towards the hedge and said goodbye to each other. When Susan arrived home she checked the photograph and could see that the small figure was visible. She showed the photo to Paul. He was intrigued by what the photo may show. He also noticed something else above it. It appeared to resemble a face peering out from inside the hedge. Soon afterwards decided to contact me about it to hear my thoughts. The original photograph: Photograph with face and small being ringed: Enhanced and zoomed view of the face: Enhanced and zoomed view of the small being: Although it is not outside the realms of possibility that there was a small being, ET or otherwise, standing in the grass, and another peering out from the bush, it is more likely that the being and the face are simulacrums. This is where light and shadow causes the brain to make shapes and see things which are not really there. The fact that the face was not seen at the time, and the fact that neither witness saw the small being move increases the likelihood of this. Neither the being or the face are clear enough on the photograph or of a distinct enough colour to say with certainty that they are separate entities and not just vegetation. That said, below is a comparison between the area of interest in the photograph and a daylight equivalent: As you can see, there does not appear to be anything in the left hand photograph which is obviously responsible for the small being in the grass or the face in the hedge. This may be due to the fact that the daylight photo was clearly taken at a different time of year (as indicated by the presence of white flowers on the hedge). It should also be noted that the two witnesses were standing in different positions on the drive, yet both could see something down in the grass, tending to suggest there was something really there. For these reasons the possibility that the being and face are simulacrums is not an absolute certainty, which is why the photograph has been included in this report. Conclusion It is unknown whether any of the unusual incidents and strange markings that have appeared are related to contact. While there are certainly many interesting aspects to the experiences of Paul and his family, some of which do fit in with aspects commonly reported with contact, neither Paul or Nicolas actually remember seeing any beings or of finding themselves in unfamiliar surroundings. Also neither of them felt in any way unusual on the mornings when they discovered the markings, and in seeing them did not have any flashbacks to an abduction, which one might sometimes expect in such circumstances. Paul’s UFO sightings may have been genuine craft sightings, but also have the possibility of being mundane objects such as inflatables or remote controlled models due to their relative small size. While aspects of the markings do seem unusual, such as the bruising which appeared on Paul’s stomach, or the strangely triangular shape of the marking on his right arm, this is not really enough evidence to suggest that they are the result of repeated abductions. Perhaps they were just the result of local infections or accidental damage. The fact that Paul had been drinking on the evening before he found the triangular marking increases the probability that it was the result of accidentally bumping his arm into something sharp. The photo possibly showing a small being and face of another entity was not taken by Paul, so is unlikely to be directly related to his other experiences. Due to the fact that neither of the witnesses saw anything actually move or run away while taking the photo it is inconclusive. This case is certainly interesting, and there are signs that contact may be involved, but at present there is not enough evidence to say that is the definitive explanation. If Paul decides to keep in touch this report may well be updated with further experiences as and when they occur. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2013
- September 1965 – Sudbury, Ontario – Glowing White Cigar UFO Sighting
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 18/05/2013 Introduction Back in 2011 I received details of a sighting from a man who used to be a police officer in Sudbury, Ontario. He reported that back in October 1965 while on active service he witnessed a glowing white UFO while on patrol one night. The case was very convincing and a detailed report was written up and published. In April 2013 a man filled out a sighting report form via the BUFOG website to report a sighting he and his friend had experienced while they were children. The sighting also took place in Sudbury, only one month prior to the other sighting. It is extremely likely given the proxmity of both the location and the sighting dates that this was the same or a very similar object. There are also two other sightings from Michigan, the state just south of Ontario, which happened in October 1965. While these may not necessarily have been directly related, this possibility still exists. Links to both the other reports can be found towards the end of this one. Sighting Details It was between 4.30 and 5pm on a Sunday in September 1965. Mike and his friend Helen (who were 11 years old at the time) were playing outside on Old Highway 69 in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. The area is on the fringe of the city and is quite rural and sparsely populated. It was a clear and calm afternoon and there was nobody else around at the time. Mike and Helen were throwing a paint can lid back and forth to each other like a Frisbee. It went down a small gulley, so they went to retrieve it to continue their game. Aerial map of Old Highway 69 showing approximate location of sighting: Aerial map showing how far out from the main city of Sudbury the sighting location was: Modern photograph of how the location looks today: Looking up into the sky they suddenly noticed a large object in the sky to the East. It was cigar-shaped and appeared to be bright metallic white in colour. It was so brilliant that it appeared to be glowing. It is possible this was due to sunlight reflecting off its surface, although Mike does not think this was the case. It appeared to be about 30-50 feet in length and 15-20 feet in depth. The object was about a mile from their location and at quite low altitude. Mike estimates it was about 150 feet high. It was moving slowly, between 5-10 mph, in a North Easterly direction. Mike’s drawing of the UFO: The children were amazed at what they were observing. It was clear that the object had no wings, tail or other visible attachments. They watched it travel slowly across the sky. Then suddenly without warning the object massively increased in velocity and flew away at an incredible speed, crossing the horizon in a couple of seconds! Mike and Helen looked at each other wide eyed in shock. They then ran home to excitedly tell Helen’s mother what they had witnessed. When they told her what they had seen, she took a loaf of bread out of the oven and said “Oh well, I guess the moon men are coming.” Mike felt confused that she wasn't taking what he had said seriously, so ran home to tell his own parents. He had trouble in understanding why they did not share his sense of excitement. The following day at school Mike put his hand up and told the class about the sighting. They all laughed at him. After this he did not talk about it much more. The reactions of both the parents and his school friends show that even back in the 1960s many people had an unwillingness to believe in UFOs, which is sadly still the case today. Sightings Overview This is a very convincing UFO sighting, and one which I feel was certainly a genuine craft. The object was clearly not an aircraft. At the distance and altitude it was seen at the wings and tail would certainly have been visible. If it wasn't for the stunning manoeuvres the object was seen to perform there is the chance that it could have been a white coloured blimp. However the instant acceleration to an extremely fast speed shows that it was something highly unusual and definitely not an inflatable, powered or otherwise. Due to the fact that the object was moving slowly at first for over a minute, it could not have been a daytime meteorite entering the atmosphere. As it was daylight there is certainly the possibility that the UFO was observed by other people. However Mike says that the area was quite rural so not many people were about, at least in his location. Sadly Mike has not kept in touch with Helen and has not spoken to her in over 40 years, so I am unable to speak to her about what she remembers. However this is still a very impressive sighting, and through the correspondence I have shared with Mike I am convinced that it took place as he has reported. Other Possible Sightings As mentioned at the start of this report, another sighting of a glowing white UFO occurred in Sudbury within a month of this one. Due to the appearance of the craft and manoeuvres observed it is extremely likely to be the same or a similar object. There is a seperate case report on this incident. The report on two UFO sightings which occurred in Michigan in October 1965 again has a seperate case report. While the appearance was not exactly the same they may still be related. - 09/04/2013 – Tiverton, Devon – Suspected Animal Mutilation
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 18/05/2013 Warning: This report contains graphic colour images of a dead sheep. Introduction The animal mutilation phenomenon is a very bizarre and disturbing aspect of the UFO subject. Despite there being a relatively low number of reported cases than with other aspects of the subject such as UFO sightings or abductions, especially within the UK, mutilations are still occurring and should not be ignored. The media rarely cover such incidents but this does not mean that they are not taking place. Some people believe that all mutilation cases have natural explanations, despite some very interesting evidence which suggests otherwise. However there are many researchers, myself included, who still consider them directly related to the extra-terrestrial presence on Earth. While it is true that some cases have no doubt been the result of natural death and decay, there are others which have indicated removal of certain parts of the animal using sharp/heated cutting tools or where animals have been entirely drained of blood. There are also known cases where a UFO has been witnessed and then a mutilated animal has been found in the same area shortly afterwards. There also appears to be a military interest in the subject, as black military helicopters have often been reported hovering near to where mutilations have been discovered. As Birmingham UFO Group is an urban-based group situated in one of the largest cities of the UK, it is unsurprising that we do not have many mutilation cases reported to us. Most mutilations take place on open farmland, something that Birmingham is not particularly well known for! However occasionally we have been sent details of suspected mutilation cases. This is one such example. Carcass Discovery Details Andy Zukowski is a support worker from Tiverton in Devon. On 9th April 2011 he and two of his clients were out walking along a 3.5 mile long national footpath that runs through farmland between Collipriest and Bickleigh. It was about 4.30pm. The weather was dull and overcast but dry. The ground was a little damp but it did not look like it had rained for several days. Aerial map showing locations of Collipriest (A) and Bickleigh (B): During the return leg of their walk they came across a number of dead sheep in various states of decay. This is not uncommon while out walking in Devon. All the carcasses looked completely normal as Andy would expect them to appear. After seeing about 5 carcasses Andy then noticed one lying in a field about 20 metres away from the edge of the path. The field lies alongside Tiverton sewage treatment works. There were some other carcasses nearby and some live sheep at the other end of the field. Aerial photograph showing the location of the field: The carcass looked different to the others; its wounds looked unfamiliar to him. He and his clients approached it to take a closer look. The animal was lying on one side. On the upper side it was clear that the eye and the majority of the ear were missing. It had a large gaping hole around the rectal area. Considering the size of the wound there was no blood visible, or flesh on the ground beneath it. There was no blood surrounding the carcass, just a small amount running from the nose. The damage to the animal looked like clean cuts, there were no visible bite marks on it. There was some wool on the ground around the rear of the sheep, but it appeared that this could have been from shearing, as there was no blood on it and it was scattered rather than clearly from one direction. The injuries visible on the carcass immediately reminded Andy of an animal mutilation, as he has an interest in the UFO subject and had seen mutilation photographs before. He says that he has never come across any other animal with wounds such as this in the 33 years he has been walking in Devon. After examining the carcass for about 20 minutes he and his clients then continued on their way. 20 minutes later Andy returned to the site with his brother to take some colour photographs of the animal. Two days later he got in touch with BUFOG about his discovery. After discussing the carcass with Andy via E-Mail I made plans to drive down to Devon to see it with my own eyes. However the earliest I could do this would be Saturday the 13th April. I asked Andy if he could return to the location on the evening of the 12th to ensure that it was still present, which he agreed was a good course of action. At 6.15pm Andy returned to the field where the animal had been situated. Unfortunately he discovered that all the dead sheep had been cleared away, probably by the farmer. There was nothing left on the ground where the animal had been lying. 90 minutes previously Andys friend Gareth had travelled out to the field to take a look at the carcass after seeing the photographs Andy had taken. When Andy spoke with him after returning to the field, Gareth informed him that he had seen some other dead sheep but not the one which had been photographed. It appears that this one had been cleared away first at an earlier point of time. Due to the fact that the animal was cleared away, no further examination of it could take place. I therefore only have the photographs to base my analysis on. Carcass Photographs Below are many of the photographs which Andy took of the dead sheep (Several similar photographs not included). On approach to the carcass: Head with missing right eye and ear: Close up of the remains of the right eye and ear: Patch of missing wool on body: Rear of carcass and scattered wool on ground: Damage to rectal area: Photographic Analysis After examining the photographs of the carcass, I feel that it is probable that on this occasion the death of the animal was natural and this is not a mutilation. My conclusion is based on the following reasoning: - The carcass seems a little bloated, and it is likely to have been there for a number of days despite the general lack of decomposition. - There are no wounds on the animal which are obviously artificial. - The eye and ear are the most fleshy parts of the head, and are therefore the parts which are removed first by scavengers. - There is no removal of jaw flesh, a common trait of animal mutilation incidents. - It does not appear that the animal has been drained of blood, as blood can be seen running from the nose. - The damage around the rectal area and surrounding wool on the ground is likely to be the result of scavengers, and indicate that it has been used as an entry point into the carcass. - There were other dead sheep in the nearby vicinity at different stages of decay. This shows that something had recently caused the decease of livestock in the area, probably the cold weather over the preceding weeks (I hope to verify this soon with the farmer) In order to ensure that I was correct in my assumptions, I decided to contact Mike Freebury from the Animal Pathology Field Unit, a UK-based expert on animal mutilations. After sending him the photographs (with Andy’s permission), he replied with the following comments: “It looks like a natural death to me. Unfortunately, we do not know how long the animal has been dead and we do not know if the tongue has been removed. I suspect that decomposition may be quite advanced and that wild animals, in particular rats and crows, have had a go at the carcass. The best time to get to a mute case is within 24 hours of death. A vet told me that the body can stay warm for up to 18 hours after death. A lot of sheep have died in this cold spell and this could be just another. However, with the body now disposed of we may never know for sure.” As you can see, Mike’s thoughts on the photographs echo my own. At present it seems likely that this was not a mutilation case. However I would like to thank Andy for his initiative in taking the photographs and getting in touch. It is always best to remain observant rather than simply ignoring suspected mutilations, as reported incidents aid in deepening our understanding of this unsettling subject. I would also like to thank Mike for his comments on the photos. If you come across any carcass which you suspect could be a mutilation, please take photographs if you are able and get in touch as soon as possible. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2013
- October 1965 - Sudbury, Ontario - Glowing White UFO Encounter
Birmingham UFO Group Report Author: Dave Hodrien Last Updated: 18/05/2013 Introduction Occasionally BUFOG receives sighting details from abroad. This report covers a fascinating multiple witness sighting from a respectable source who decided to contact BUFOG directly because of our professional attitude towards the subject and open-minded views. The man’s name is Albert Treiz, and he lives in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, where he has lived for most of his life. He spent 35 years in the Sudbury police force, during which he worked his way up to the position of Staff Sergeant, where he was responsible for the entire station and all 340 personnel. His encounter with the UFO occurred in late October 1965 when he was 23 years old and a police officer. Towards the end of the report is a link to two other separate BUFOG reports of similar UFOs observed within a month of this sighting, at least one of which is extremely likely to be the same object. Sighting Details On the evening of the incident, Albert was on night patrol. Part of his patrol area was the police shooting range at the end of Maki Road in Garson. The shooting range lies at the end of Maki Road, and still exists today. Albert would often use the area to take a short nap in the early hours of the morning. Aerial map showing location of Sudbury police force shooting range: Photograph of the entrance to the firing range: It was about 3am when Albert stepped out of his police cruiser to use the bathroom. It was a cold night, but was still and clear, with the stars and moon fully visible. As he stepped out of the car, he spotted a bright white light in the night sky to the South, which he first assumed was a star. The light was at an angle of about 20 degrees. He stared at it for at least 5 seconds before realising that it was becoming brighter and appeared to be moving towards his location. After about 15-20 seconds the object stopped moving. At this point it was directly over the firing range and lit up the entire area around it for about 300 yards. It was within a kilometre of his position and was completely silent. Due to the brightness of the light coming from it, it was impossible to see its actual shape. Albert was both fascinated and un-nerved by the object. Sensing potential danger, he instinctively reached across to his left side, retrieved his firearm and brought it to his right side. Close up aerial view of the shooting range: The UFO remained stationary for about 15 seconds. Suddenly without warning it shot away at a 45 degree angle into the sky at an incredible speed. It was lost from sight within a brief moment. Albert was astonished by what he had just witnessed. At that moment he realised that the object could not have been a conventional aircraft of any kind, nor something else such as a lit inflatable/balloon. It had clearly acted under intelligent control with purpose. Albert continued to stare to the South for a short while, absorbing what he had seen. He then got back in his cruiser and quickly left the area. It was the responsibility of the graveyard shift officer to report overnight activities to local radio and TV. However he did not report the sighting as he was scared no-one would believe him. Three days later, he picked up the Sudbury Star newspaper. In it was a report of the same object by a fellow officer named Mike. He had also been out on patrol and had seen the same object in the same area! In that timeframe Albert remembers hearing rumours of other UFO sightings, although most were different to what he and Mike had seen. Sighting Analysis Due to the incredible manoeuvres observed, this is a very impressive sighting indeed. If the object had not performed these manoeuvres, it would have remained nothing more than an unidentified glowing light. However it is clear that whatever it was it was under direct control. It could not have been an aircraft as it came to a halt for a period of time. It could not have been a helicopter because movement patterns aside, Albert would have heard the noise of the rotor blades. It left the area much too fast to have been a drifting inflatable object or remote controlled model, and it is extremely unlikely to have been an earth light. Could it have been some kind of secret military craft? This is of course possible but I find it unlikely that, even top secret, they have something which could hover stationary, completely silent, and then suddenly move at such a velocity. Also it is highly improbable that they would fly the object directly over a police-patrolled area, even in the middle of the night. It seems much more likely that this was a genuine sighting of an advanced craft of non-human origin. Albert is currently attempting to track down the newspaper article, unfortunately he did not keep this. If he manages to find it he will send it me and this report will be updated. Other Possible Sightings In April 2013 I was contacted by a witness who informed me that he and a friend had observed a glowing white cigar-shaped UFO in Sudbury in September 1965. He was not aware of this case but due to the proximity of the location and the dates it is extremely likely that this was the same object. There is a seperate case report The only other UFO sightings I have looked into so far from the 1960's also occurred in October 1965. The sightings took place in Michigan which happens to be the state just south of Ontario. One of the two sightings was of a glowing white sphere. Could this have been related to these other sightings? Again this is covered in a seperate report. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2013
- October 1965 - Michigan - Domed Disc & White Orb UFO Sightings
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Last Updated: 18/05/2013 Introduction Occasionally at BUFOG we get contacted by witnesses from much further afield than the area of Birmingham. Recently the contactee from the Bletchley Contact Case (report available elsewhere on this site) put details of his sighting on a website. Pat Clements from Michigan USA read the article and decided to get back to him with details of his own past UFO sightings to offer support. The man from Bletchley forwarded Pat my details and soon afterwards Pat contacted me by E-Mail to describe his impressive sightings. The two incidents will each be covered separately in this report, but as they took place in such a short space of time, there is the possibility that they were related. It should also be noted that two other sightings occurred in Sudbury, Ontario within a month of these sightings. Due to the fact that Ontario is the state just North of Michigan there is a possibility that these sightings are also related. You can find links to reports on these other sightings towards the end of this report. Domed Disc Sighting - Early October 1965 Sighting Details There is no question that this sighting was extremely impressive, and certainly seemed to show a physical craft of unknown origins. Pat believes the sighting took place on a Friday or Saturday night in the early part of October 1965. It was a clear night, the stars were visible and it was also very still. Pat (who was 15 at the time), his friend Rick Blackwood, his brother Greg and Greg’s girlfriend Maureen Phoenix (Ages 15-17) were driving along Pontiac Trail in Northfield Township, Washtenaw. Greg was driving, and Pat and Rick were on the back seat. They were heading south towards the fairground in Saline, for a sponsored dance for teenagers. They drove past German Park on the way to Ann Arbor. Both Pat and Rick needed to relieve themselves so Greg pulled up at the side of the road. Pat and Rick got out and walked back about 75 feet behind the car where Maureen would not be able to see them. They were facing the car when suddenly Rick exclaimed “What is that over the car?” Looking into the sky, both witnesses saw a huge “classic” flying saucer shaped craft. It was matt black in colour and against the night sky, which was why they had not spotted it sooner. It was stationary and completely silent, just hanging in the air above the car. Pat knew the area well and was able to estimate the size of the craft at 75 feet across. He estimates it was about 100 feet high above the car. Map showing location of incident: In describing the craft, Pat says “It had beautiful lines to it and reminded me of a French curve in the way it seemed to flow together, absolutely breath-taking. The outer rim had a row of rectangular sequential blinking lights firing off in succession as if it was moving, it is possible it was transmitting data to the inner part of the human brain, I certainly absorbed the flashing lights.” After several minutes, the craft began to move away to their right at over 200mph. As it did so it moved in a sharp zigzagging pattern, making 90 degree turns without slowing down at all. Pat is a licensed pilot and says that there is no way a human would be able to withstand such sharp movements due to the G force exerted on them. As they watched, they called out to Greg and Maureen who then also saw the craft. It continued to make several more 90 degree turns before suddenly accelerating straight upwards at an incredible speed. The bottom of the craft turned a brilliant white as it burned through the atmosphere. No sonic boom was heard, and before long the craft was completely out of sight. In his last glimpses of it, he thought that from underneath the craft looked similar to the old ECHO spacecraft that was launched in the early 1960s. Pat found out later that Frank Mannor, the son of a local farmer, claimed to have seen the craft land in a nearby field. I am currently trying to get in contact with him about the incident, so this report may well be updated. Analysis Due to its appearance, size, and movement patterns, this incident was almost certainly a genuine sighting of an intelligently controlled craft. Pat and the other witnesses are convinced that it was extraterrestrial rather than a top secret military craft due to the incredible manoeuvres it pulled off. Apart from the fact that no alien entities were seen, it does seem to tick all the boxes. Whatever it was, it appears that it was interested in the witnesses, and was hovering directly over their car for a number of minutes. The object is obviously much too large, and performed too complex manoeuvres to have been a radio controlled object; therefore out of all the cases I have looked into so far, this is one of the most impressive. It is a shame that none of the witnesses had a camera on them at the time, or else we may have had some fantastic evidence of the incident. White Orb Sighting - Late October 1965 Sighting Details Two weeks after the first sighting, Pat once again saw something completely out of the ordinary! He was at his home in Brighton. His father would often work evening shift, and when he left the house his mother would on many occasions get paranoid that someone was outside the house, so would go to check at the back door. It was about 7pm in the evening when suddenly his mum started to scream for him to come and see. He found her standing at the back door looking up into the sky and acting quite hysterical. When Pat looked outside he could see a ball of white light in the sky off to the West. They both went outside to get a better view of it. The object was massively growing in size to about the size of the sun in the sky, and then shrinking back down to the size of a star. Pat believes it was actually moving towards and away from them rather than remaining stationary and physically changing. It was making no sound at all. They watched it for a couple of minutes highly confused as to what they were looking at, before Pat decided to contact the Michigan state police. He informed them of what they could see but the police treated it as a prank call so he got irritated and hung up. He and his mother continued to watch the object, which was still performing the same manoeuvres in the sky. Several minutes went by and Pat’s sister Lori also came outside and saw the object. Suddenly a full squadron of jets in formation appeared in the distance coming from Selfridge Air Force Base. They were obviously flying to intercept the UFO. As they approached it, suddenly the object shot away almost instantly. The jets broke formation and headed off in different directions in disarray. At no point throughout the sighting did Pat feel threatened by the object; he was only really awestruck by it. Analysis This is a fascinating sighting of an extremly unusual object. It appears that the object was a craft of some kind, and the fact it flew away extremely fast when the jets arrived also backs up this theory. It is unlikely that the jets would have even been sent out unless it was something out of the ordinary. Although the object had a very different appearance to the previous sighting, there is certainly a possibility that it was related in some way. Perhaps the object was sent on purpose to “check up” on Pat, and this is the reason it was seen in close proximity of his home. It does seem like too much of a coincidence that the sightings happened within two weeks of each other, unless he was just extremely lucky to have two close encounters within the same month. Like the first sighting the manoeuvres displayed by the object looked intelligent and deliberate, although Pat has no idea why the object appeared to be moving towards and then retreating from them or was changing size continuously. This is quite bizarre but also tends to disprove the theory that the object was something mundane such as a balloon. Due to the time of year it was also dark so the object appeared to be lit up and glowing white. Pat wonders if what was witnessed was not a physical craft, but rather something spiritual in nature, such as a sphere of energy. However the object must have been visible to everyone or else the jets would not have been sent to intercept it. It would be interesting to know whether or not the object showed up on their radar. It is obvious that people at the air force base knew about the presence of the object, and perhaps also knew why it was there. However, nothing official reporting the object has ever been released. If possible, I may be able to contact the base to ask them for details regarding the incident; I will let you know if there are any further developments. Other Possible Sightings As mentioned in the introduction of this report, I have on separate occasions been sent details of two other impressive sightings which occurred in Sudbury, Ontario in September and October 1965. Although the objects described were different, it is possible the sightings are still related. There are seperate case reports on these incidents. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2013
- Wakefield Contact Case - Reptilians, Greys, Abductions, UFO Sightings, Orbs, Paranormal Activity
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 23/03/2013 For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used Introduction Neil first got in contact with BUFOG in November 2012. For the past decade he has had many contact-related experiences and has always sought answers for what has happened to him. He felt it was finally time to share these experiences with others to aid in their understanding of the subject. I have now spoken with Neil extensively via both E-Mail and phone, and I am convinced he is being sincere about what has taken place. This report provides an overview of his experiences, and features many drawings. A Change Of Direction Neil’s contact-related experiences did not really begin until 1996 when he was 36 years old. It is possible that he had other experiences prior to this which have been entirely blocked out from his mind, but there is no real indication that this has occurred. Up until the winter of 1995 Neil was working in engineering. He had a good amount of expertise and was earning a lot of money from it. One day he was working in the factory on his own when a sense of complete calm came over him. A shaft of sunlight came through the skylight right on top of him. He stopped what he was doing and enjoyed the warmth and silence of the moment. He asked himself a question. “What am I doing with all the professional experience I have if I can’t pass it on?” He has no idea where this came from, but what he was doing felt wrong to him. Soon afterwards he was off work ill with a virus for a number of weeks over Christmas and New Year. During this time he reflected on life and decided to completely change his path and start working with children. Soon afterwards he began working with troubled teenagers. A lady he met at the interview for the job also prompted him to join the Bethel Church in Barnsley, and he began to meditate regularly, both while at church and at home. It is very interesting that Neil’s contact-related experiences seemed to begin soon after this change of direction in his life. This could have just been a coincidence, but are possibly linked in some way. Some people speculate that meditation is a way to communicate with the ETs and can open you up to experiences, and I have investigated numerous cases before where contactees have informed me that they practice meditation. The Glowing Orb It was an evening in early 1996. Neil was up in the bathroom of his house on The Crimbles, Wakefield. His wife Emily was downstairs watching TV. After washing himself he then meditated for about an hour. It was around 8pm when he exited the bathroom. Due to the time of year and the fact that neither the landing or hall light was on it was extremely dark. Rather than switch on the light, Neil decided to just walk to the bedroom in the dark to get dressed, as he had plans to go out. As he entered the bedroom he immediately noticed a glowing white orb of light hovering over a small basket on top of the chest of drawers on his right. It was about the size of a small football, around 20 cm in diameter. He was surprised by its presence but immediately thought it may have a paranormal explanation of some kind. Witness drawing of the orb in the bedroom: He felt that it may have intelligence, so asked it out loud not to be frightened and to stay. But as he did so the orb shot upwards around 4 feet. It then briskly moved across the room heading upward in an arc towards the far top left corner of the room. It took about 3 seconds to cross the room and then vanished into the wall. Witness drawing showing the movement of the orb across the room: The small basket which the orb had been over contained a number of watches, mostly analogue, but one digital. When he checked the watches he found that they had all stopped working and all showed the time 7.45pm. This was 15 minutes before he had entered the room. He was not sure if this was merely coincidence or whether the orb had somehow caused the watches to stop. If they had all been digital this would seem more likely, however most of them were wind up watches, so how would the orb have affected these? Later on he swapped the batteries of the digital watch and it started working again. Neil called Emily and informed her about what had taken place. She seemed supportive and said he should look into what it could have been. He wondered whether it could have been ball lightning. However the weather had not been stormy at the time, and it had appeared inside the house with the window closed and curtains drawn, so this seemed unlikely. It also didn’t match witness descriptions of the phenomenon which he found online. At the time Neil thought that the orb was some kind of spirit energy attempting to contact him. However he now feels that it was linked with his ET contact experiences. Many contactees have reported seeing glowing orbs such as this in their proximity and there certainly appears to be a direct link between incidents such as this and contact. It is possible that these orbs are a visual manifestation of energy, or could even be an actual ET intelligence of some kind, although these are just theories at present. Paranormal Activity Soon after witnessing the glowing orb, Neil began to experience unusual activity around his home. It was as though something had been triggered and life would never be the same again. Neil wonders if through his meditation he was able to channel an ET presence which has remained with him ever since. Most of this activity took place during the night while he was lying in bed. On numerous occasions he was woken from sleep with the feeling of something sitting or standing on the bed. This would usually start down by his feet. He would feel a compression on the mattress and the bedding tighten. It felt like an animal, like a cat or dog. However he had no pets and the window would usually be closed so it could not have been this. Sometimes when this happened he would kick out and it would go away. Other times he let it remain and it would start to move up the bed towards his head. Occasionally it would get close to his face and he could feel some kind of energy coming off whatever it was. He would then get nervous and lash out at it with his arm and it would disperse. Whenever he opened his eyes the presence would immediately disappear, it would only occur if he kept his eyes closed. Even though Emily was sleeping alongside him at the time she never reported feeling anything herself. On other occasions Neil would feel something actually touch him. Typically he would feel a gentle flick on the end of his nose, or something would nudge him on the arm or leg if it was uncovered and hanging out of the edge of the bed. It felt like a finger or hand touching him with pressure applied locally. Occasionally Neil would also suddenly smell the odour of tobacco or sometimes perfume. This would usually occur in the bedroom but one time he smelled tobacco in the car while on his way to work. His and his wife did not smoke, nor did the previous owners of his home or car. Whenever this occurred and his wife was nearby Neil would alert her but she could never smell it herself. The odour would last for several seconds before dispersing. On a rough weekly basis Neil would also hear something say his first name to him during the night. He would hear this either when settling down to sleep, or it would wake him from sleep. The voice sounded audible and close to his left ear usually. It would not always sound the same. Sometimes it would sound male, sometimes female, and sometimes gruff like some kind of animal. He never sensed any aggression in the voice, it just felt like it was greeting him. At first he was very surprised by the voice, but never frightened by it. He was intrigued and wanted to find out more about what could be speaking to him in this manner. Even though Neil shared these experiences with his wife, she would never fully understand as it was so out of the norm. She bought Neil some books on the paranormal to aid in his research. This paranormal activity continues to this day, although appears to be less prevalent. It should be noticed that at no point during any of these experiences does Neil feel he is paralyzed. Often experiences such as these can be put down to side effects of sleep paralysis. However it is clear that this is not the case here. That said, it is possible that some of what he is experiencing could be down to a hypnagogic state, especially as much of what took place has happened during the night while he is either trying to sleep or woken from sleep. Initial Abduction Neil’s first abduction experience took place in late summer of 1997. He had now moved house and was living on Woolgreaves Drive, Wakefield. It was a normal evening and he and Emily settled down to sleep between 11pm-midnight. At some point in the night he suddenly woke up with the feeling of a presence in the room. He believes it was between 3-4am however as he did not look at the clock this cannot be verified. The room appeared to be lit with a very soft white light with no identifiable source. Neil had the feeling that there was something on the landing outside of the bedroom door, something that wanted him to come to it. He looked over at the door which was closed at the time. There appeared to be glowing white light coming through the gaps around the edges. Neil stared at the door for several seconds and watched as this light gained in intensity until it was very bright. Witness drawing showing the glowing light coming from beyond the door: At this point he was very intrigued as to what was outside of the door. He was so engrossed in what was taking place he did not think about his wife at all, who was lying asleep alongside him. He got up out of bed and crossed the room. As he reached out to grab the door handle, the door seemed to fade away into brilliant white light. It was as if the light was actually penetrating through the door. He then saw an arm reach out from the light towards him. Due to the light it was silhouetted. It was slender in shape, and strangely appeared straight edged. Most of the fingers on the hand appeared to be joined together, with just the thumb being separate, almost like a mitten. Witness drawing showing the being’s hand reaching out for his own: The being took Neil by the hand. He was surprised when it did this but not frightened. Its touch felt very gentle and slightly cool in temperature. It felt soft as though the being was of a different density to himself. It then led him into the light. He wondered why the light was so bright yet was not hurting his eyes. As he stepped forward it was like the closed bedroom door was no longer there. He was then able to see more of the being, although it was still silhouetted. It appeared to be about 5 feet in height, humanoid but quite thin, and again straight edged like it’s hand had been. In the light he then noticed two other similar beings. Witness drawing showing the beings standing in front of him: Neil’s reaction to what was going on was one of intrigue and wonder rather than of fear. He wanted to see what would happen next. In his own words he says “I’m not certain I was making cognitive decisions at this time, rather being led by a guardian, like a father helping his son to cross the road for the first time.” When I asked Neil about how the beings moved his answer was very interesting. “That’s the odd thing in the middle of oddness, I do not remember them moving at all, rather continuing snapshots but joined together to form motion without flickering. Very difficult to explain.” He did not try to speak to the beings. This was his last memory of what took place. The next thing he became aware of he was waking up in the morning at around 8am. He thought back to what had happened and felt both energised and in awe. It felt completely different to a dream and he felt certain that it had occurred as he remembered it. He immediately told Emily about what had happened. She confirmed that she had slept through the night without incident. Later on he also told his mother and sister about what had taken place. They seemed supportive though Neil got the sense that it was a bit much for them to handle. At the time Neil did not associate what had taken place with the glowing orb and paranormal activity he had been experiencing previously. However he now believes that it was all connected. The Corridor It was later in 1997. By this time Neil had begun to change in personality and explore his spirituality to a deeper level. He also found he had become more artistic and had written some poetry as a result. His wife had begun to become a little frightened of his experiences and directly informed him of this. Neil awoke at some point during the night to find he was no longer in his bedroom. He found himself floating in a long corridor. The walls ceiling and floor were all a matt medium grey colour and smooth. The edges where the walls met the ceiling and floor were curved. The corridor was about 5 feet wide and 8 feet high. It felt a little cramped, similar to a tight hotel corridor. It was quite dark, but what light there was had no visible source to it. Although he felt like he was actually there and had full awareness and senses, he could not physically see himself. His viewing height was slightly higher off the floor than it would have been if he was physically standing. He felt happy and at peace. At the end of the corridor, about 30 feet away from him, was a wall and a corner which led out of sight. There was a shadow of something being cast on the wall. He wanted to see what lay down there, so began to float along the corridor without looking back the other way. He moved quite slowly, slower than normal walking speed. Neil feels that if he had wished to he could have floated faster but did not feel the need to at the time. As he got nearer he realised the shadow was the shape of a tall Grey being. The shadow was coming up from the lower right corner of the wall diagonally about 6 feet. It had a large pear-shaped head and slender build. It appeared to be unclothed, but could possibly have had skin-tight clothing on. The shadow was completely still. Witness drawing of the corridor and Grey shadow: Neil turned to the right around the corner, fully expecting to see a Grey being. However there were no Greys standing there. Instead he found himself entering a small room down some steps. The room was the same colours as the corridor but the light source was brighter. Standing in the middle of this room was a short and stocky entity, about 2-3 feet in height. It had a general humanoid shape with a head, two arms and legs but no visible extremities such as fingers or toes. It was white in colour and appeared to be translucent. Its most striking feature was two large round emerald green-coloured eyes with black pupils. A white glowing light seemed to be emanating from the being. Behind the being was a rectangular block-like table. There were some other objects in the room but Neil cannot remember what they were. Witness drawing of the room and short being: Neil sensed activity from other life-forms in the room, but his concentration was on the short squat being. He felt he had known this being all his life and felt great compassion for it. He floated towards it and wrapped his arms around it (this is what he felt he was doing; he could not actually see his arms around the being). He then felt gentle energy pushing him backwards. This did not feel in any way threatening. He retreated a short distance and settled. The being spoke to him telepathically. It did not appear to have a mouth. The voice that he heard sounded male, and he sensed a great amount of knowledge in it, similar to how an experienced teacher would speak. It said to him “You have been asking for knowledge and enlightenment. You will receive more but you will have to be patient.” This seemed to be in direct reference to the fact that since 1996 Neil had requested answers to his questions via meditation. At this moment Neil felt like he was dropping off to sleep and his surroundings faded away. He awoke in bed with the image of one of the short being’s eyes staring directly at him. He could not see his reflection in it. He felt completely transparent, like a child being looked over by its mother. With this came a strong feeling of love, to a level he has never felt before or since. The vision lasted for around 15 seconds during which Neil simply stared up in wonder. He felt he was being scanned in some way. Witness drawing of the green eye: After this he blacked out. The next thing he became aware of, he was waking up in the morning. He immediately told his wife about what had happened. She advised him to continue reading into the subject. For the following few weeks he could not stop thinking about what had happened. He felt completely in awe of it and wanted the chance to see the being again. Yellow UFOs Sighting In 1998 Neil used to work in Leeds and would travel to and from work on the M1 motorway. It was late November 1998 and around 2.30pm. Neil had finished work and was on his way home to Wakefield. He had just joined the M1 and Stourton, Leeds and was heading South. It was a sunny day with scattered cloud and a light breeze. He was travelling about 70 mph in the outside lane, and there was lots of other traffic around. Aerial map showing the stretch of the M1 along which the sighting occurred: Neil looked to his right and noticed two objects over by the horizon. They were glowing bright yellow like two small suns, and were at an angle of 60 degrees in the sky. They appeared to be in the lower atmosphere. Each object had a golden glowing corona around it, similar to the sun but much less bright. They looked near to each other and were diagonally spaced. One appeared bigger than the other, although this could have been due to it being closer as it was impossible to judge the distance of the objects. Although it was impossible to tell exactly how big the objects were they did look sizeable, possibly 500 and 400 feet across. They appeared to be hovering motionless in the sky. Witness drawing of the sighting location and glowing UFOs: Photograph from the M1 in the direction the objects were seen in: For the next 10 seconds Neil kept shifting his eyes between the objects and the road ahead. When he next looked back the objects had completely vanished. He continued to look for them for the remainder of his journey but they did not reappear. There are a number of possibilities for what Neil saw on this occasion. Perhaps the UFOs were two helicopters, aircraft or balloons that were catching the sun’s rays and reflecting brightly, obscuring their actual appearance. Perhaps after a short time their angle had changed and they were no longer catching the sunlight in the same way. Another possibility is that they were not really present in the sky and were actually just caused by sunlight hitting the car window. However if this were the case it is likely that they would have reappeared at some point in the remainder of the journey, as it was a bright sunny day. Neil cannot fully rule out the possibility that one of the objects was the sun and the other some kind of mirage caused by reflection in the window. However they did not look bright enough to be the sun, and he was able to look directly at them for several seconds without his eyes hurting. The UFOs did not move so there is no way of telling if they were under intelligent control or not, however this can of course not entirely be ruled out. Colour Changing UFO The following summer, Neil had another UFO sighting. It was a clear summers evening at around 10 pm. He was getting dressed in the rear bedroom. Due to the time the sun had set and it was quite dark in the room. Due to his previous experiences Neil was now an avid sky watcher and would often look up at the night sky. He decided to do so now, so stared out of the window. The view looked out over bungalows and the Nain Barnsley Road. In the distance the area of Sandal Castle could be seen, though the actual castle was hidden from view. Suddenly he noticed a red coloured glowing light about 500 metres high over the Sandal Castle area, half a mile to the South. It immediately descended rapidly, quickly changing to amber, then to green, similar to a traffic light, before vanishing from sight over where the castle is situated. In total he had only observed it for several seconds. Neil estimates that if the object was self-illuminated it would have been 20-30 feet across, and appeared to descend around 100 mph. Witness drawing of himself watching the UFO: Neil spent weeks thinking about what he had seen and trying to come up with a rational explanation for it. Due to the colours seen he initially thought it must have been reflection from a traffic light. However there were no traffic lights anywhere near the house which could have accounted for the light. Nearby traffic was obscured by the other housing in the area, so it could not have been reflection from a passing lorry or other vehicle. There had been no lights on in the bedroom at the time, and no lit electronic devices which could have reflected in the window. Aerial map of Sandal Castle: The light had descended much too rapidly to have been a helicopter. Also Neil says that the West Yorkshire police helicopter used to regularly be seen in the area, and he was entirely familiar with how this looked after dark. Meteorites do not change colour in the manner that was observed, nor do they tend to descend vertically. To this day the light remains a mystery. Neil says that if it was a genuine sighting of an ET craft, he does not feel it was in any way related to his other experiences, and had just been in the right place at the right time to be seen by him. Ascension It was at least a couple of years before Neil had another experience while staying at his mother’s flat in Wakefield. He cannot recall whether this happened in 2001 or 2002, but it was a typical night in summer time. The weather was mild with scattered cloud. The flat was on the ground floor of a one storey building. At some point during the night between 2-4 am, Neil woke up out of sleep with the feeling of a mild energy around his body. He immediately became weightless and floated up out of his bed. He was lifted straight upwards and passed through the ceiling. As he did so he felt the fabric of the ceiling pass through his body. He was then in the upper flat. He continued upwards, passing through the roof of the building. At this point he was involuntary flipped over 180 degrees so he was now facing downwards. He remembers seeing the roof of the flat, the cars parked down on the road and the nearby school playing fields. He continued to gain height, passing through low lying clouds. He was not frightened by what was taking place but instead felt joyful and thought to himself “Wow at last! I’m finally going to meet my takers.” However this was to be the last thing he would recollect. The next thing he became aware of he was waking up in the morning at around 7.30 am. He explained what had happened to his mother, who said that she had not seen or heard anything during the night. The Elderly Man By 2004 Neil had got divorced and had a new girlfriend Trisha. He was living in a new house on Spring Vale Close in Wakefield. He was recovering from depression for the first time in his life, while continuing a challenging career path. Neil had told Trisha about his prior experiences and she was supportive while remaining closed to them. It was the summer time and both Neil and Trisha were asleep in bed. Suddenly they were both awoken by a strong sudden movement of the bed like it had been pushed. Neil asked Trisha if she had felt it, to which she replied that she had but wanted them to go away. It was clear that she attributed the movement to a ghost. She pulled the covers up over her head. Neil felt too nervous to look around the room but spoke out loud, asking whatever it was to leave them alone so they could get some sleep. Whether this was honoured or not is unclear, but the rest of the night went by without incident. The following evening Neil was on his own in bed and sleeping soundly. Suddenly he felt something slap him on the base of his feet, which were sticking out of the bed covers. It felt like a hand would feel. He initially tried to ignore it as he was tired and had work in the morning. Due to his previous experiences he was already accustomed to being touched by unseen forces. A while went by, maybe an hour. Then it happened a second time! It was clearly trying to get his attention. Neil was lying on his back, and so lifted his head off the pillow and peered around the room. He saw a figure standing in the shadows of a vestibule in the corner of the room. He immediately felt that this was a spirit visiting him, and not a burglar standing in the room or an ET visitation. Neil was intrigued and wanted to see the figure more clearly. He called to it and asked it to show itself and not to be frightened. The figure stepped forward out of the shadows. It was an old man who appeared to be at least 60 years old. He had long silver grey coloured hair. He was wearing what appeared to be a whit coloured butchers-style coat covered in buttons and loops, and black and silver striped trousers. Witness drawing of the elderly man: The figure walked around to the left hand side of the bed and reached out towards his hand. Neil reciprocated and reached out to hold the hand of the man. At this moment he lost consciousness. When he came round it was early morning. He remembered what had happened with the man but had no further recollections. He felt strangely tired and drained of energy. It is unknown whether this encounter was in any way linked with Neil’s contact experiences or not. The figure looked completely human so this possibly suggests that it was a ghost as Neil tends to feel that it was. However ETs are known to often mask their appearance, so could this have been an ET appearing in this manner? It is interesting that when Neil reached up to hold the hand of the figure he blacked out. This is very similar to some of his other experiences which appear to have involved ET beings, and this is also a very common aspect of contact in general. This suggests that more may have taken place which he cannot currently remember. The Entity By 2006 Neil had begun to question whether his experiences were actually taking place. He sought comfort in the fact that many other people from all around the world have reported very similar experiences to those he had faced. However something very different to his prior experiences was about to commence. Neil began to be woken during the night by an invisible “entity” in the room. This entity would sometimes make barking and snarling sounds similar to a wolf. Initially Neil did not feel threatened by this and felt that it was trying to communicate with him. However on one occasion he awoke to feel a strong energy force very close to him. This energy seemed to pulse in waves. It immersed itself inside of him. At this moment he felt like it had taken him over and he had become this other being. He felt he had taken on its personality alongside his own, and he began to make growling and snarling sounds. He felt he still had some control of the situation and so willed this entity to leave his body. It appeared to do so and dispersed. After this incident he continued to sense and hear the entity in the room at night, but whenever it was present he would will it to stay away from him, and it never took him over again. In mid-2011 the experiences with this entity seemed to draw to a close, and he has not encountered it since. Black UFO Sighting It was an evening in December 2011. Neil and Trisha were on their way back to Wakefield travelling North along the M1 motorway. It was around 8.30pm and due to the time of year was already dark. The weather was clear and the stars and moon were visible in the sky. They were approaching the junction to the M62 when suddenly Neil’s attention was drawn to an object in the sky off to the left of the motorway. It appeared to be in trouble and descending. Neil pointed it out to Trisha saying “There’s an aircraft over there and it’s going to crash”. Trisha too began to watch the object. At first they thought it must be a helicopter, as they were quite close to the West Yorkshire Police Helicopter station. However they soon realised it looked quite different to a helicopter. The object flew over the motorway in front of them and they were now able to get a better look at it. Aerial map of the stretch of the M1 along which the sighting took place: It was about 50 metres in length, 2 metres in depth and black in colour. It appeared to have an angular upswept section towards the rear, and was nothing like anything either Neil or Trisha had seen before. There were a number of white and blue lights on the object, although the number of these is not known for sure. When Neil watched it cross the motorway it appeared to have one white light and one blue light. The UFO looked like it was going to crash into the embankment on the far side of the motorway. It descended very low behind some nearby electrical pylons, but then suddenly lifted back up and began flying along the edge of the motorway heading southward. Witness drawing showing the UFO over the far embankment: By this time they had been observing it for around 2 minutes. Neil continued to peer back over his shoulder at the object but had to keep one eye on the road. It was silhouetted against the dark blue coloured skyline. It appeared to be flying on a straight and level course, but occasionally seemed to drop in height and then rapidly lift back up again. Witness drawing of the UFO travelling alongside the motorway: Trisha was able to get a better look at the object as it flew off into the distance out of sight. She said that from the rear it looked like a shallow W shape with a row of lights along the side. It was almost like it had changed shape, although this could have been down to the angle it was now being viewed at. Whatever it was, it was clearly something out of the ordinary. The object was last seen heading off in the direction of Calder Valley radio mast. Witness drawing showing the UFO departing the area: Reptilian Involvement Neil owns a property on the shore of Tuzla Lake in Turkey. In late May – early June 2011 he was on holiday for two weeks doing maintenance work on the house on his own. On one of the nights during this holiday he awoke to feel the familiar sensation of a presence in the room. He felt it was around 2 am but did not check the time. Neil initially tried to ignore this and continued to lie on his side. However he soon became aware of a strange dim light filling the room, similar to that which he had seen during his initial abduction experience back in 1997. He turned over to look around and was immediately greeted by the sight of a Mediterranean man lying alongside him on the bed about three feet away, partially covered by the bed sheets. The man was turned to the right looking towards him, with his head propped up by his right arm. He had short black hair, tanned skin and a toned slender body. He looked perfect in complexion and features, and Neil was immediately aware that this figure was an ET masking its true appearance. He has no idea how he knew this was the case. Witness drawing showing the initial appearance of the ET: He commented on the being’s perfection saying to it “You are very beautiful.” The being responded saying “Thank you.” Neil then became suspicious of the being and said to it “Why have you come to me as a male? You are not what you pretend to be, if you return come in your natural form.” He then rolled back over and lost consciousness. Neil’s reactions may seem odd given the circumstances, but are commonly reported during contact experiences. Often the individual will act in an unusual manner, and react differently to how they would usually react. This may be something done on purpose by the ETs, or could be a natural side effect of interacting with these beings. When asked about his reactions Neil informed me “It was like a control mechanism. I was completely me so to speak, but without fear or anger, like the base fight-or-flight reaction had been stripped away. I was utterly in control and comfortable with it.” When asked about why he rolled back he said “I was disgusted with it for attempting to fool me, guess that was my ego kicking in. I instructed it basically to come back to me in its true form and rolled over in a kind of superior disgust like I was in charge, very unusual behaviour for me back then I have to say. I felt in control at the time.” Regarding the way in which he lost consciousness I asked Neil if this was akin to being sedated. He confirmed that this was a very good way of describing how it felt. Later in the night Neil awoke again. Without opening his eyes he immediately had the mental image of a lizard-like creature, which he later learned was a Reptilian, one of the more commonly reported ET species. At first he could only see its eyes and the lower part of its forehead. The eyes were yellow with a brown vertical slit across their middle. The forehead was covered in green-brown coloured scales and appeared stretched tight over a wide heavy-structured head with prominent eyebrows. Witness drawing of the Reptilian’s eyes: Neil immediately felt very defensive and on guard. He also felt sure that this was the same being that he had seen earlier in the night now showing its true appearance. He remembers trying to speak to the being in his mind but cannot remember what he said. The being then suddenly leapt towards him. Neil was startled and lashed out with his left hand at the being. It seemed to pass right through him and disappear, and at this moment he again blacked out. Again he woke back up from sleep. It felt to him only a short amount of time had gone by. He now saw the arm of this being held above his head. It was almost as if it was holding it out so he could inspect it. The arm was thick and muscular and covered in green-brown coloured scales. It had three fingers and a thumb which again were quite wide and not overly long. Each had a thick brown nail towards the end. These were not like claws and did not extend past the end of the digits. The entire arm and hand was about 4 feet in length. Witness drawing of the Reptilian’s arm: Neil stared intriguingly up at it for several seconds. He felt a strange connection to this being, almost like a son to a father. Because of this feeling, he reached up and took hold of the arm and wrapped it around himself. Once more he lost consciousness. This would be the last memory he had from the night, the next time he awoke it was morning. Like his previous experiences, he felt unrested and drained of energy. However he was also concerned by his recollection of the being leaping towards him, it felt aggressive and out of place with the rest of the experience. I have looked into numerous other cases where Reptilians have been seen, often working alongside other species. The sight of these beings often causes great fear in the contactee, no doubt partially caused by their fearsome appearance. However while Neil felt threatened when the vision of this being leapt towards him, he also felt a deep sense of connection to it. This suggests that it was not the first time he had seen it, although he has no previous memories of meeting it. Diamond Shaped UFO It was an afternoon in March 2012. The weather was bright and sunny with some scattered cloud. Neil was out with Trisha in Wakefield. It was about 4.30 pm and they were driving along the High Street North West from the city centre, travelling towards a garage to collect Trisha’s car. There were lots of other people around going about their business. Neil suddenly noticed a diamond-shaped object travelling very fast from the North East. It skipped across the sky for approximately a mile heading towards them. Then it came to an abrupt stop in front of the car, about 300 metres away and roughly 100 metres in the air. It appeared to be about 30 feet in diameter. The object then began to tumble over and over for around 10 seconds. Its upper half was metallic silver and its lower half matt black. Witness drawing of the UFO: Neil pulled the car over and insisted that both he and Trisha get out of the car and observe the UFO. Trisha was a little resilient to this at first but got out of the car and they both continued to watch the object. It continued to tumble then began to ascend into the sky in a spiralling upward lift until eventually it was lost from sight. In total the sighting lasted about 10 minutes. During the sighting Neil attempted to get other people’s attention but they completely ignored him. It felt strange, almost like they were switched off. Witness drawing showing the sighting location and movement path of the UFO: Once it had disappeared from sight Neil and Trisha got back in the car and continued their journey discussing what they had seen. The object was clearly not a helicopter or other normal aircraft. However there is the possibility that it was some kind of large inflatable. The way in which it tumbled over and over and then slowly ascended in a spiralling motion is suggestive of a light weight floating object getting caught and carried by air currents rather than something under direct control. It is interesting that it appeared to suddenly come to a halt after moving swiftly towards their location, but this particular aspect is not enough to designate intelligence. Perhaps other people did witness the object but put it down to a balloon, so did not pay much attention to it. Multiple Abductions? By June 2012 Neil had moved in with Trisha at a house in Castleford. However this change of address did not signify the end of his experiences. Due to Neil being a light sleeper, and Trisha also having sleep-related issues, they usually sleep in separate rooms. One night in June, Neil awoke at an unknown time. It was still fully dark outside. He then felt a calming energy surround him and he was lifted up off the bed. As with most of his experiences, he did not try to fight what was happening, he felt surprised and intrigued. He began to float across the bedroom towards the closed window. When he reached it, he felt himself begin to pass through the window. At this moment he blacked out and had no further memories of what took place. The following night the same thing happened again. Once more he saw himself lifted up out of the bed and floated across the room. Like before he then fell off to sleep. But later in the same night it occurred a second time. However on this occasion he sensed something in his groin area. When he let go of the bed he floated across the room and into the cupboard rather than the window. Once again he blacked out and his next recollection was of waking up in the morning. The following day was bright and sunny, which led to a warm and still night. Neil awoke at some point between 2-4 am lying on his back. This was unusual for a start as Neil never sleeps on his back, he always lies to one side. He felt that he was being held down by two beings, one holding each of his wrists. He felt the sensation of a screen or barrier of some kind across his waist, and also found that he could not move his lower half, only his upper body and head. There was a gentle pins and needles sensation in both of his legs. When he opened his eyes he found he could not see anything, it was completely black. However he did not try to struggle against what was happening. Despite the unusual situation he felt quite comfortable and relaxed. Neil then felt his left testicle being lifted below the screen. He sensed that there was a third being down there who was performing an examination procedure of some kind. For some reason he knew that they were taking semen samples. Whether he knew this because of a prior event or knowledge that was somehow transferred to him is unclear. His attention was mostly drawn towards the two beings holding his wrists. About ten seconds went by and then he felt the being on his left release its grip on his arm. At this point he rolled his upper body to the right. His legs were still paralysed. He reached out with his left arm and took hold of the being on his right, pulling it close to his face. The being did not appear to react to this and allowed itself to be dragged closer. It remained completely silent. It felt slender and appeared to be unclothed with smooth skin. Neil was puzzled as to why he was not allowed to see it, and felt that the beings were deliberately obscuring his vision of what was taking place. He could sense energy surrounding the being and feel its presence close to his skin. Neil says that the reason that he pulled the being close to him was to attempt to stop it from being frightened of him, to show them he did not mean to do them harm. Neil was happy to go along with what was taking place. As with many of his other experiences he felt completely relaxed with the situation. He let go of the being and rolled back over, offering his left arm to the being which had let him go. It grabbed hold again and at this point he felt himself dropping back off to sleep. These incidents suggest that Neil may have been abducted on numerous nights in a row and had the memories largely blocked out. The experience with the beings is particularly intriguing. Neil felt that he was still in the bedroom while this was taking place. However the ETs do not tend to perform examinations on contactees directly in their room, they would usually take them aboard a craft for such procedures. As Neil had no vision at the time, it is possible that he was no longer in his bedroom when thus took place. Perhaps due to the fact he was lying down he assumed he was still in his bed, but was actually elsewhere. At present we cannot say for sure either way. Looking back at the incident Neil believes that the beings were Greys, although he did not see them directly so this is not a certainty. It is possible these experiences were vivid dreams/flashbacks brought on by previous incidents, rather than actually taking place at the time, although the experience with the beings does sound quite physical. Communication A couple of months later in August 2012 Neil believes that an entity of some kind attempted to communicate with him. He awoke in the night to the sense of a presence in the bedroom to his left. He did not open his eyes. He then felt energy surrounding him and something drawing energy from the centre of his head. When I asked Neil to describe how this felt he informed me “It’s like a magnetic pull. It draws out your mind, and you can feel your mind leaving the centre of your brain into a new frequency, like you are being transferred into their dimension.” Neil knew that something was trying to communicate with him, so he relaxed and did not fight back against what was happening. He began to hear faint sounds like a female voice screaming. He let the energy go deeper into his mind and then heard a female voice say “Go on, go on.” The voice sounded like than of an elderly lady. At this point there was then silence followed by a deep guttural growling sound. Neil took this as an attempt to frighten him. He broke free from the energy surrounding him and it seemed to dissipate. He said out loud “Pathetic, you will never frighten me!” He then rolled over and naturally dropped back off to sleep. It is unknown whether this incident was linked with his contact experiences or not. While some of the elements suggest that it was, such as the sense of a presence in the room and of energy around him, it seems very unusual that the ETs would try to frighten him in this manner. The incident seems at odds with his other experiences where he has felt very comfortable and relaxed with what has taken place, even when it has involved direct interaction with the beings. Surely if they wanted to communicate they would do so directly rather than use cryptic words and growling noises? It is possible that this, and maybe some of Neils other experiences, have been caused by hypnogogia. This is an unusual state of mind which can sometimes occur, usually when dropping off or waking from sleep. During a hypnogogic experience the individual can experience a wide number of effects, which can include hearing strange sounds or voices. Or another possibility is that there was another paranormal explanation for this incident, and an entity of a different type was interacting with Neil. Could it have been the same entity which he had heard making barking/snarling noises on previous occasions? Missing From The Room On 25th November 2012 both Neil and Trisha retired to bed at about 11.30pm. They were feeling restless so decided to sleep in separate rooms to not disturb each other’s sleep. At some point during the night Neil awoke with the familiar sense of a presence in the room. He also had the sensation of pins and needles throughout his whole body, but unlike the experience where his legs had been paralysed he found he could still move freely. He rolled over onto his back to have a look around the room. He looked at the window, which had the curtains drawn. Suddenly there was a bright flash of white light followed by several other points of light going on and off outside the house. He then became weightless and lifted off the bed, and began to float towards the window. At this point when trying to recollect what happened next Neil’s memories are very fractured. He cannot remember anything visually but does recall the feeling of having an unclothed humanoid female on top of him who he proceeded to have intercourse with. He awoke at 7.45am and called Trisha into the room. When he spoke with her she asked him where he had been during the night. He asked her what she meant and she said that she had come into the bedroom at 4am but Neil was not in bed. She had then checked for him elsewhere in the house and he did not appear to be anywhere. This is a very interesting incident which contains some aspects that Neil had experienced on prior occasions, and other aspects which were completely new to him. The fact that he saw lights outside the window and was then lifted off the bed and floated across the room suggests that an abduction took place. Although Neil had no visual confirmation of what happened, he is convinced that this experience had a sexual element to it. Other male contactees have described very similar encounters during their experiences. During an experience of this type, the contactee will often meet with a female human (or human looking) being who will then proceed to have sex with them. Usually they will feel a deep connection with this being even if it is the first time they have met them. They will feel drawn to perform the act, which can lead to feelings of guilt or the sense that they have been controlled against their will. It is theorised that these experiences are in some way linked with the hybrid program. The fact that Trisha entered the room at 4am and confirmed that Neil was not present there or elsewhere in the property is interesting evidence supporting the idea that Neil had been physically taken. There is the possibility that he was sleepwalking and had left the house, however Neil says that he is not prone to sleepwalking, and it would seem an odd coincidence that this would take place the same night as his experience. Conclusion As you can see, Neil has had many fascinating experiences over the years. Many of these experiences are closely linked with contact, and whatever your thoughts on the subject, it is clear that Neil is a contactee. His experiences have featured both the Reptilians and Greys, two of the more widely reported species, as well as other beings which I have not heard described before (Which may or may not have been down to screen memories) His UFO encounters, many of which have been also witnessed by others, are very intriguing. However none of them feature direct interaction so it is unclear whether or not they are related to his contact experiences. It is possible he has just been in the right place at the right time, and while some are highly unusual none of them are definitely confirmed as advanced craft under intelligent control. What is unusual about this case is that although Neil is a repeat contactee he has no memories of any childhood experiences with these beings. The majority of repeat contact cases tend to go right back to an early age and will often extend into numerous generations of a family blood line. However as mentioned earlier, Neil’s experiences seemed to begin after he began to explore his spirituality to a deeper level. Perhaps through doing this he somehow opened up a communicative path with these beings, although there are of course many people who think deeply on this subject who do not experience contact. Neil has had experiences from the mid 90s up until late 2012, so I find it very unlikely that his experiences would cease now. He welcomes further contact with the ETs and seeks answers to what has happened to him. If Neil has any further experiences going forward and he keeps in touch with BUFOG then this report may be updated. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2013
- 14/09/1972 – Solihull – Disc UFO Sighting
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Last Updated: 11/02/2013 For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used This report covers a stunning multiple witness sighting of a disc-shaped craft seen in the area of Sheldon in 1972. It features a detailed overview of the experience provided by one of the witnesses, a written statement from one of the other witnesses and numerous drawings. Sighting Details Back in 1972 Sarah was 12 years old. She and her family used to live on the Coventry Road on the outskirts of Solihull. The houses at this location are up on an embankment and are very close to the South West corner of Birmingham International Airport. Aerial map showing the sighting location on the Coventry Road: Aerial map showing the proximity of the location to Birmingham airport: It was 8pm on the evening of 14th Septmeber 1972. Due to the time of year it was already dark, and the weather was cold but still. From what she remembers she was outside the front of the house. She looked to the North and saw a disc-shaped object in the gap between two trees growing on the embankment. She pointed the object out to her mother, younger sister Karen and several neighbours, who were also present. Modern photograph of the sighting location in the direction the UFO was seen. The two trees on the embankment no longer exist, and on the opposite side of the road Eagle Court has now been built: The UFO was a smooth curved metallic disc. From their position it filled the 15 foot gap between the trees. It appeared to be around 200 yards away from them on the other side of the Coventry Road, and they were viewing it at an angle of about 45 degrees. Sarah estimates it was about 20 feet in diameter, and about 15 feet in depth. Around the circumference of the object were two rows of bright multicoloured lights. One of these rows were moving in a clockwise direction and the other moving anti-clockwise. Sarah wonders if these lights were the UFO’s power source. There were no other markings on the object but it was clearly visible. Sarah’s drawing of the UFO: UFO artwork Sarah found online which reminds her of the UFO: The object was hovering completely still in the air. As they continued to watch, Sarah noticed that there were a number of helicopters moving around in the sky near to it. They appeared to be observing it. Everyone continued to excitedly watch what was happening for 20 minutes. After this time, the object suddenly vanished. To Sarah’s recollection, nobody observed the object through binoculars or attempted to photograph or video it. After the experience, Sarah says that everyone was strangely quiet about what they’d seen. Nobody spoke about the incident for a number of months. She thinks perhaps this was due to how shocked everyone was. Sighting Analysis This is a very impressive sighting, and one which has all the hallmarks of a genuine craft sighting rather than mis-identification of something mundane. It was clear that it was a metallic disc with rows of coloured lights. Due to the fact it was observed for a good period of time by multiple witnesses it must have been actually present in the sky and not a visual hallucination of any kind. Due to the relative close proximity of the object it is clear that it was not any known commercial/military helicopter or aircraft. There are a number of reasons why it is very unlikely to have been an electronically lit inflatable. Firstly it remained completely stationary for 20 minutes. If it was a balloon it would certainly have drifted during this time on air currents. The only way in which it could have remained stationary for so long would be if it was tethered. But then how would the object have suddenly completely vanished from view? It would have remained until it was pulled back down to the ground. Also we need to take into consideration the fact that helicopters seemed to be observing the object. This suggests that individuals at Birmingham airport were aware of the presence of the object, and had sent out helicopters to get a closer look at it. If it was nothing more than an inflatable then they would have quickly lost interest in it. If it was tethered, it would have been pulled down. An unusual aerial object this near to the airport would certainly have caused concern and possibly viewed as a hazard to planes taking off or landing at the airport. In October 2012 I investigated an incident involving a black sphere over Sheldon within ½ mile of the Coventry Road. In this case the airport sent out a police helicopter to locate the object and planes were also redirected for a number of hours (Click here for the official case report) Could something similar have occurred here? It is also unlikely that the object was some kind of remote controlled model designed to look like a UFO. It appeared to be quite large in size, so would have needed quite a considerable method of propulsion in order to stay airborne. Also it was a clear night, so surely the witnesses would have seen it fly away rather than suddenly vanish? It is a pity that Sarah’s mother or neighbours did not think to photograph or video tape the object, especially due to the length of the sighting. However they were probably too busy watching what was taking place and it did not come to mind. This is not suspicious in any way, and is the reason why many sightings end up with only testimonial evidence to back them up. I have asked Sarah’s sister and mother for testimonials to include in this report. Once I hear back from them they will be included. Sarah has informed me that she has had a couple of other interesting sightings over the years, which she will share with me in due course. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2013
- 12/11/2013 – Banbury – Rectangular UFO Sighting
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Forwarded by UFO Info Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 12/01/2013 Sighting Details At approximately 10.25pm on the evening of 12th November 2013 Benjamin was letting his pet dog out into the garden of his house in the North East of Banbury, Oxfordshire. It was a clea, cold and still night with the moon and stars visible. He noticed an object in the sky out of the corner of his eye. To the North East, at an angle of about 45-55 degrees, was an object which he initially assumed to be an aeroplane. However he soon realised that the object had no navigation lights visible on it. He looked harder at the object and was amazed by what he saw. The main body of the object was a curved rectangular shape. But on one side of the object was what looked like a large shark fin shaped triangular protrusion which was sloped downward at an angle of about 45 degrees. Both the main body and the fin-shaped protrusion appeared to be metallic silver in colour. There was a bright orange coloured aura around the object. This glow appeared to be emanating from the entire object and did not change in brightness at any point. Benjamin ruled out reflection from street lights as it was glowing for the duration of the sighting, even when far away from any street lighting on the ground. There was a short orange trail behind the object which was about twice the length of the object itself. This trail appeared to be light dispersion rather than actual vapour or material coming off the object. Witness drawing of the UFO and location: It appeared to be between 500-1000 yards from his location. If it was indeed this far away then Benjamin estimates it was quite large in size, perhaps 2-3 times as big as a commercial airline passenger plane. There was no sound coming from the UFO, and Bejamin believes that if it had been making a noise he would have been close enough to have heard it. The M40 motorway passes close to Benjamin’s house, and it was over this that the object was situated. It seemed to be moving in parallel to the motorway, travelling in a Southern directiuon. It seemed to be moving nearly twice as fast as a passenger aircraft would cross the sky. Aerial map of junction 11 of the M40, over which the UFOwas situated: Benjamin watched the object travel on a straight path until it reached the boundary of the town. Then suddenly without warning it greatly increased in speed. It pitched up and to the left, then down to the right in an elongated S shape. After about 2 seconds he lost sight of it behind the house adjacent to the garden. He was quite puzzled by what he had just witnessed and could not explain it logically. The appearance of the object, its sudden increase in speed and manoeuvres were very hard to explain. Sighting Analysis This is a very interesting sighting indeed. The appearance of the object is certainly highly unusual, and I cannot think of any other case where something similar has been reported. It was clearly not a conventional aircraft of any kind. Neither its appearance or the unusual manoeuvres it performed would fit this explanation. Could the object have been an odd-shaped Chinese lantern? Obviously lanterns are quite small in size, so if this was indeed what was seen then the object would have had to have been much closer to the witness than it appeared to be. As there is no point of reference in the sky this can sometimes happen. If it was indeed a lantern this would explain the orange glow around it. Perhaps it was travelling on a particular air current, and then suddenly got blown around by another gust of wind. This could possibly explain the sudden increase in speed and unusual curving manoeuvres which it performed before it vanished from sight. However lanterns do not tend to leave a trail behind them at all. Also the shape is extremely unusual - Most lanterns are cylindrical or rounded in shape. Most aspects of the sighting do not fit in with a lantern explanation, and I feel it would be clutching at straws to say that it did. If it was not a lantern, then what else could it have been? A novelty shaped inflatable would not have had any glow coming from it. A hand glider or hot air balloon would have moved slower and would not have performed the highly unusual movement patterns observed at the end of the sighting. After looking into the aspects of the case I cannot provide an answer for what was seen at present, meaning that this object remains unidentified. If you have any further information on this incident please get in touch. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2014
- 11/05/2013 – East Preston – Rectangular UFO Sighting
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Forwarded by UFO Info Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 07/01/2013 Fore reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used Sighting Details On the afternoon of 11th May 2013 at approximately 3.55pm, Terry and his 12 year old son Lee were sitting in stationary traffic in their car. They were on a road that runs from East to West. It was a cloudy and unsettled day but was not raining. Suddenly Terry realised that there was one particular “cloud” moving faster than the others. It was white in colour but perfectly vertical and shaped like a narrow rectangle! It was travelling to the South East at a slow speed heading out over the English Channel. He was looking up at it at an angle of about 45 degrees, but had no idea of how high in the sky it was or how large it was. Aerial map of East Preston beach: Terry pointed the object out to his son, who confirmed that he could see it too. They watched it for about 30 seconds after which it either vanished or was lost from sight behind other clouds. Sighting Analysis Terry says that if it had been any other shape he would have dismissed it as a cloud. But the object maintained its rectangular shape for the duration of the sighting. He says that there is still a possibility this is what it was, but he would be very surprised. Due to the colour of the object, way in which it seemed to fade away and no manoeuvres which would indicate it was controlled in any way I feel that the most likely explanation is a cloud which just happened to appear rectangular in shape. An alternative explanation would be a solar airship drifting in the sky. These sometimes tip up vertically in the air and can appear like a long thin rectangle when viewed from a particular angle. However there are several reasons why this explanation is unlikely. Solar airships are usually launched on clear sunny days as the heated air inside them is what gives them lift. But it was an overcast day with no sun visible. Purchased solar airships are usually black in colour as they are required to soak up as much sunlight as possible. It is possible to make one out of bags, but these usually have a more segmented appearance like a worm rather than a completely straight rectangle/cylinder. Also the fact that it was overcast and the clouds were moving across the sky indicates that the wind was blowing. Solar airships only tip up completely vertical in still weather conditions, if there are air currents then they are usually buffeted making them appear like a moving snake in the air. After looking at the information provided by the witness I feel the most likely explanation is an odd-shaped cloud, although of course I cannot say this with absolute certainty. Unfortunately Terry did not get back in touch after providing the initial details so this is the only information available on this incident at present. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2013
- May 1999 – Hong Kong – Grey In Pod Incident
Birmimgham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 07/01/2013 This truly bizarre incident involves the close observation of what looked like a Grey ET by many witnesses. Although it could well have a mundane explanation it is still a worthwhile case to report. The details below have been taken from a detailed letter and drawing passed onto me via a BUFOG member, who is friends with of one of the witnesses. For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used Incident Details In May 1999 James was on a business trip to Taiwan, Hong Kong and a few cities in mainland China. He was travelling with a work colleague Chris. Their first stop was in Taichung in Taiwan where they stayed for a week. After this they flew into Hong Kong. Before work began on the Monday they had the weekend to explore the city. They were staying at the Royal Pacific hotel on Canton Road in the Tsim Shat Sui district. Photograph of the Royal Pacific Hotel: It was the first day of the weekend and they decided to go to the Golden Arcade near to the Sham Shui Po MTR station to look for PC components they could take home with them. They set off along Canton Road towards the Tsim Shat Sui underground station on Nathan Road, which was about 5-10 minutes walk. Aerial map showing the location of the hotel (A) and Tsim Shat Sui underground station (B): It was a typically busy day in the city with bustling people everywhere. As they approached the station they noticed a very large crowd of people that appeared densely packed around something. This crowd was at least 9 people deep and drew James’ attention. He wondered if something bad had happened or if the people were watching a street performer. Whatever it was, it was drawing a lot of peoples attention. Chris was anxious to get to the underground station, but James’ curiosity got the better of him and he walked over to the crowd to see what they were all looking at. He managed to push his way through the people. And then his breath was immediately taken from him as he saw what everyone was looking at. On the road about 15-20 metres from his position was a smooth ovoid shaped “pod” mounted on a flat base. It was about 2 metres in length, one metre in width and 1.5 metres in height. The pod was transparent like glass but seemed to be less reflective than glass would usually be. Inside the pod was a being in a reclined lying down position. It was green-brown in colour and shaped like a Grey, with an oversized head and black eyes. It was about 1.5 metres in length. The being was not moving at all. It was unclothed and was lying on a yellow coloured material. On the far side of the pod James could see a ring of other people who all appeared in awe and shock at what they were looking at. Photograph of the incident location: Witness drawing of the being and pod: James looked around and saw a policeman who was standing a little closer to the pod than everyone else. He appeared to be stopping people from getting closer to it. He had a nervous look on his face and held a walkie talkie close to his chest as if he was expecting to receive a message at any moment. His gaze returned to the being inside the pod. He stood and watched it for about 5-10 minutes, trying to rationalise what he was witnessing. What was it doing there? Was it real or just a model? If it was real was the being alive or dead? If it wasn’t real then who put it there and for what reason? After watching it for a while James realised he had to return to his colleague and continue his journey. He lef the circle of onlookers none the wiser to what was going on. He told Chris all about what he had seen as they made their way to the station. The following week when he arrived back in the UK, James checked on the internet to see if he could find any further information about what he had seen, but he could not find anything. Incident Analysis Due to the level of detail given in the letter I am convinced that the witness saw what he says he did. There are a number of possibilities which could explain what took place. These can be summarised as follows. 1) It was some kind of stunt for a hidden camera show. 2) It was a practical joke set up by an unknown individual or individuals. 3) It was a model or prop designed for a movie or museum which had accidentally fallen off a vehicle onto the road. 4) It was a real ET being either dead or asleep in a pod of some kind. The most important question to ask though is whether it was real or a model. There are a number of extremely valid reasons for why it was more than likely a model rather than an actual ET. Firstly it occurred in broad daylight in the middle of an extremely busy city. If it was a real ET and had been placed there in the pod during the night then it would have been discovered soon afterwards as it was in the middle of the road blocking the traffic. The authorities would soon have been informed of its presence. Soon after this the area would no doubt have been cordoned off by the military or police so nobody would have been able to get anywhere near it, or even removed from the area and taken away elsewhere. It is extremely unlikely that the only presence of authorities in such a scenario would have been a single police officer. Also news of the incident would soon have spread and it is very likely it would have been written about online and in newspapers. The fact that when James returned home he could find no mention of the incident online suggests that no operation of this magnitude took place either before or after he was present at the location, which points towards it being a model rather than an actual ET. You would also have to consider why the ETs would drop off one of their own in a pod in the middle of a road in full sight of everyone. It was clear that that pod was not a craft which had crash landed, as there was no debris or signs of impact around it. In most cases ETs act in a covert manner, and when people have seen them it is usually while alone or in more remote locations rather than the middle of a highly populated city. The experience of coming across such a thing just lying there would certainly have be impressive for the witnesses involved, so I am not surprised that James considers that the being may have been real. It is clear from James’ letter that being and pod it was in were extremely convincing, so if it was a model it was a very well made one. Therefore it is unlikely it was nothing more than a practical joke set up by a random member of the public. However it is far more probable that it was set up on purpose as a stunt for a TV show, perhaps with hidden cameras to see how the public would react. This show would have been given clearance beforehand to place the model where it was located in the middle of the road. It is logical that they would have chosen an extremely public location, such as the middle of a capital city in broad daylight, as this would attract more attention from passers by. Although James was unable to find anything about the incident online (or I while investigating the case) it is possible that it formed part of a TV show, just not one which was subsequently uploaded to the internet. At present I feel that this is the most likely explanation for what took place. If you can shed any further light on this incident please get in touch. Copyright Dave Hodrien 2013
- 07/10/1978 - Kettering/Finedon – Disc & Other UFO Sightings
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Last Updated: 08/12/2012 Introduction In May 2012 I was contacted by a man named David who has through his life had several impressive UFO encounters. The earliest of these occurred in 1978 when he was 15 years old. He and a number of friends experienced a stunning sighting of a UFO in Kettering which would remain in their memory for many years to come. It soon became clear that theirs was not the only sighting, and that UFOs were also seen by many others in the area for a number of months, what is commonly referred to as a UFO flap. In November 2012 another man named Kevin got in touch after finding this report online. He informed me that he was another witness to this same craft but prior to David’s sighting in Finedon to the South East of Kettering! This report covers both sightings in detail, and also provides lots of information on other reported sightings in the area around the same time. For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used for some witnesses Sighting Details When David was 15 he would often meet up with his friends Tim, Leigh, Darren and Justin to go skateboarding at Skateside Skate Park on Rockingham Road, Kettering. On the 7th October the boys left the skate park shortly after 9.30 pm. Back in those days there was not much traffic on the road, so they used to skate along the road to travel home. It was a warm, still and clear night, and they were happy just wearing T-shirts. There was very little cloud in the sky and the stars were visible. It was quite a journey to get back home along numerous roads. The boys skated along Bath Road, then turned a corner into Cedar Road. Aerial map showing the location where Skateside Skate Park used to be (A), and the junction leading into Cedar Road (B): Cedar Road is not flat, it descends down a shallow hill, and then back up. In the distance over the housing of Walnut Crescent they were astounded by what they saw. There hovering in the air was a huge dark flattened-oval shaped object. It was massive in size, longer end to end than four house block. It had a symmetrical pattern of multi-coloured lights along it. In the centre were four bright white lights. They appeared to be slightly rectangular in shape. They were arranged in a rectangular pattern, with the lower two slightly further apart. At each end of the object were other smaller lights which were different colours – red, orange, green and blue. All the lights remained at constant brightness and did not flash. David says that the colours were “something I had never seen the like of before or since”. The object was hovering motionless no more than 20 feet above the roofs of the houses. It appeared to be completely silent, which was amazing to the witnesses. They stared at the object in awe for about 15 seconds. Then suddenly without warning the object tilted to the left at an angle of around 30 degrees. It then made an incredibly fast movement to the left in a Northern direction and then halted again in the air. David finds this movement extremely hard to describe. It also appeared to have a physical effect on him. In his own words “I felt a strange warping effect as it moved. A slight tug inside my stomach. The movement was odd. Suddenly it was at the other position but it did not vanish and reappear, and yet it did not move sideways. This is odd, I stared at it the whole time and it had just moved.” At this point the boys decided they wanted to get a closer look at the object. They began to skate down the hill towards it. It remained motionless in its new position, still tipped at an angle. After about 6-7 seconds the witnesses temporarily lost sight of the object due to the dip in the road. Seconds later when they began to ascend, they found that the object had completely vanished. David feels that the object had been aware of them and decided to leave when they tried to approach it. Drawing of the UFO on top of a darkened photograph of the sighting location to illustrate its size and position, both before and after its sudden movement: Aerial map showing the position of the witnesses and the two positions the UFO was seen at: The boys had nothing else to do but continue onward to their homes. When he arrived home David told his parents about what he had seen. On Monday when he went into school he told a couple of his school mates. Later on one of them approached him and said that 5 other boys were mucking around on the school football field on Saturday when a huge object swooped down and hovered over them. In his next class David was telling the boy sitting next to him, when another boy sitting behind them spoke up. He asked “Was that on Saturday?” When David responded and told him that it was, he said “Well I was in the off licence on Stamford Road that same night when a bloke came in shaking and pale.” The shop keeper knew the man and asked him what was wrong. He said “I’ve just seen a flying saucer, almost landed on the roof of my car when I was driving by Wicksteeds Park.” The shop keeper responded by saying “You’re kidding me?” but had no doubt the man was telling the truth. Aerial map showing the location of Wicksteeds Park (B) in relation to the location where the boys saw the UFO (A): On Tuesday evening when David arrived home from school his mother said “Take a look at the Telegraph.” In the paper was an article about two girls who had had a close encounter with a UFO on the same night. Thankfully David kept both this article and other previous articles which spoke of sightings in the area, you can read them later in this report. David says there were more in the coming weeks too though these were not kept. Sadly David has not kept in touch with the other witnesses and so I am not able to speak with them about what happened unless they see this report and get in touch. About 15 years ago his brother did work alongside one of them for a while. He asked him “You saw something weird once with my brother didn’t you?” to which he responded “Yes it was a UFO”. Finedon Sighting Details Kevin was only 12 years old in 1978. On the evening of the sighting, around 9.15 - 9.30 pm he was in the garage of his house on Tingdene Road, Finedon. He was changing the tire on his bike and chatting to a girl who lived nearby, Paula. It was a clear evening with no rain or wind. Aerial map of Tingdene Road with the sighting location marked: They suddenly began to hear a strange noise which appeared to be coming from above the garage. It sounded like a low pitched quiet whining noise which was continuous. Both Kevin and Paula exited the garage to the back garden to see if they could see what where the sound was coming from. When they stepped outside and looked up they were shocked to see a huge disc shaped object hovering directly above the neighbouring house. It was about 90 feet high and was at least the width of the house. They were looking at it at an angle of about 20 degrees from their position. It was clearly a flattened disc with numerous bright lights on it. Kevin cannot remember if these lights were coloured, but they were so bright that they partially obscured the main body of the object. It was hovering completely motionless in the air. Aerial view of the house showing the location where the witnesses stood (A) and the position of the UFO (B): Photograph taken from Tingdene Road. The garage where the witnesses had initially been is on the right. The UFO was hovering above the house on the left: Both the witnesses were absolutely shocked by what they were seeing. Kevin banged on the window of the house to try and get his sister to come outside and see it too, but she did not hear. The UFO hovered completely still for around 20-25 seconds, which at the time felt much much longer. Suddenly without warning the UFO shot away to the North extremely fast. There was no build up in acceleration with this manoeuvre. In the distance it then came to a direct halt again, directly over the A6. After about 5 seconds it once again shot away to the North West in the direction of Kettering and was lost from sight. The witnesses were absolutely astounded by what they had just seen. They ran back into the house and told Kevin’s sister, who didn’t really believe them. They then returned to the garage talking about the object. On Monday 9th October when they returned to school, Kevin told his class mates about the sighting but again they didn’t really take it seriously. However on the following day there was an article in the paper about other sightings which had taken place over the weekend, some of which appeared to be of the same object, while others were clearly of other UFOs (You can read this article and others later in this report). Sightings Analysis Both of the incidents described above are excellent highly credible multiple witness sightings, which show all the signs of being a genuine advanced ET craft. The fact that the same object was seen by two different groups of people at different locations proves that it was definitely present in the sky and not some kind of visual hallucination or individual interpretation of something mundane. The object was clearly very large, at least 30 feet in diameter, probably larger. In both sightings the object performed very impressive manoeuvres which show it was clearly something out of the ordinary. It could not have been a remote controlled model or electronically lit balloon of some kind. UFOs have been seen to perform manoeuvres such as these on many occasions, moving extremely fast with no gradual acceleration or visible means of propulsion. Movements such as these are far in advance of any known aeroplane or helicopter that we have today, military or otherwise. Could the object of been some kind of secret military craft? This explanation seems very unlikely. Why would they fly such a craft low down over a residential area in plain sight of anyone who happened to look up? We must also take into account that there were other sightings of both this object and others. It is clear that there was a UFO flap in the area. Many of the sightings reported had multiple witnesses so should not simply be dismissed as hoaxes or misidentification. Regarding the sighting at Finedon, I am convinced that Kevin is a genuine witness and has not simply read the report then made up a story. He was clearly thrilled at having found the report online and says that he has been showing it to his family and friends to back up what he has talked about on numerous occasions in the past. It’s great when the reports I write and upload do sometimes cause other witnesses to come forward. Newspaper Articles Below are the various articles that David sent me relating to UFOs around Kettering. You can click on them to view in full size, then use your browsers back button to return to the report. This first article is the one which his mother showed him several days after his own sighting. It describes numerous UFO sightings around Kettering on both the Saturday and previous evening, including a domed disc-shaped object which appeared to give chase to two terrified girls: This next article describes a saucer shaped object covered in flashing lights which was seen by a family from Corby, the town just North of Kettering, on the previous evening: In the final article, further UFO sightings around Kettering and Corby are discussed, including one on the Monday evening: Newspaper Article Analysis The objects described in the various newspaper articles above do not all appear to be of the same object, though some may well be the same object that the witnesses from Finedon and Kettering saw. The first sightings mentioned took place on the Friday evening in the town of Corby, roughly 9 miles North of Kettering. Towards the end of the first article, a multiple witness sighting of a line of multi-coloured flashing lights is mentioned. This UFO was seen in the district of Weldon, moving in the direction of Beanfield. Arial map showing both Weldon (A) and Beanfield (B): The second article appears to speak of another multiple witness sighting of the same UFO over Corby just after 8pm. The witness again describes an object with flashing multi-coloured lights, moving slowly in the direction of Beanfield. This sighting took place at the Bankside Estate. As Bankside is much closer to Beanfield than Heldon, it can be assumed that this sighting took place after the other one. Arial map showing the locations of the Bankside Estate (A) and Beanfield (B): Photograph of the entrance to the Bankside Estate where the second Corby sighting took place: Next we move to the following evening, where across the first and third articles there are a total of 5 independent UFO sightings all between 9 - 9.30pm, and a sixth sighting which has an unknown time. The first reported sighting of the Saturday evening was seen by two men at The Hill, Middleton, a village to the West of Corby. Aerial map of The Hill: The UFO had a cluster of red and orange coloured lights which appeared to be moving in a clockwise direction on a central section of the object. It appeared to be making a bubbling-like sound. The movement pattern which the object performed is extremely similar to what David reported seeing the UFO over Kettering perform – sudden acceleration from a hovering position before slowing down again. The object appeared to position itself over the village of Ashley to the North West of the men, where it remained for up to 10 minutes. Aerial map showing the location of The Hill at Middleton (A) and Ashley (B): However its description does not match what the boys saw, and it was sufficiently different to be classed as a completely separate object, suggesting that there were multiple UFOs present in the county on the same evening. I do not feel that the proposed explanation of a normal aircraft given by the spokesman from RAF Wittering and the spokesman from the MOD is sufficient due to both the rotation of the lights on the object and the movement pattern observed. Many people completely dismiss UFO sightings and automatically label them as misidentification of mundane objects which some of the time does not fit the facts. The next reported sighting of the Saturday evening took place on Wellingborough Road somewhere between Finedon and Wellingborough at around 9.15pm. Photograph of Wellingborough Road, giving a general view of the surroundings: Aerial map of Wellingborough Road between Fielden and Wellingborough. The UFO sighting occured somewhere along this, though the exact location is not known: Once again the object described does not sound anything like the previously reported UFOs. Mr Batley described seeing a delta shaped object with bright white lights at the front and a green light at the rear. Although the lights seen twice on the Friday evening could conceivably been attached to a delta shaped object, there were other colours seen besides just white and green. And it sounds entirely different to the object seen by the witnesses from Middleton. Soon after 9.15pm a UFO with a cluster of red lights was seen by two witnesses over Hallwood in Kettering, as reported by the third article. This lighting configuration sounds similar to the object seen previously by the two men. However there is no mention of the lights moving in a clockwise direction. The object was witnessed for over 4 minutes, so in this time the rotation of the lights would certainly have been noticed. It is possible that the object had switched off this rotation for whatever purpose. Photograph of Hallwood Road: Aerial map of Hallwood Road: The girl’s ordeal spoken of in the first article took place in Wellingborough at around 9.30pm on Queensway. The object described sounds similar to what the boys from Kettering would witness soon afterwards, and could well have been the same UFO. The girls described a disc shaped object with a dome on the top and numerous multi-coloured lights. David does not remember seeing a dome on the top of the object he saw in Kettering, however it is possible that the object was tipped up at an angle and they were viewing its underside. This would account for the flattened elliptical shape reported. It is clear that the object could tip up in different ways, as it did this towards the end of the sighting. The girls reported that the object they saw tipped right over 180 degrees so that the dome was then on the bottom. Photograph of the bridge on Queensway which the UFO crossed over while approaching the girls: Aerial map showing the location of the bridge on Queensway (A), and Vicaridge Farm Road (B), the road which the girls lived on: After the girls knocked on the door of one of the houses further along Queensway, the UFO flew away. It is entirely possible that it then headed north, and was then seen by the boys in Kettering a short while later. The other Saturday evening sighting again mentioned in the first article took place on the A45 between Higham Ferrers and Sanders Lodge industrial park. Unfortunately we have no time when this incident took place. Nor is there much detail about the UFO, other than the fact it was silent. Aerial map showing the location of Higham Ferrers (A) and Sanders Lodge (B): We then move on to the Monday evening. The third article speaks of another sighting of the UFO with the cluster of red lights on it. This time the UFO was seen over the Hazel Wood area in Corby, and once again there were multiple witnesses. Aerial map of Hazel Wood: Conclusion From the various reports sent to me and the details that David, and later Kevin, provided, it is clear that there was a lot of UFO activity over that weekend, and may well have been in the weeks prior to and following it. The sightings of the disc-shaped UFO over Finedon and Kettering were just two of a number of impressive sightings. What is clear is that the descriptions of the UFOs do not all match up, there appears to have been numerous UFOs over the area which were sometimes seen only once, and sometimes seen multiple times. Whether all of these sightings were of genuine craft is impossible to say. However I feel that this is certainly the most likely explanation for what Kevin and Paula, then David and his friends saw. There were too many aspects which do not fit with any mundane explanation, and I find it very probable that the object was of extra-terrestrial origin. Report Links The sighting of the UFO over Kettering would not be the only time that David would see UFOs. In August 1988 he saw one or more UFOs on the outskirts of Rendlesham Forest, location of the famous UFO incident of December 1980. And on 4th July 2012 he and another witness saw a possible Flying Triangle craft actually appear to land! - 17/01/2010 - Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham - Orange Orbs Sighting
Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 07/10/2012 Sighting Details Early in the morning of 17th January 2010 Michael and his girlfriend were walking his brother home. It was clear, frosty and still night with a full view of the stars overhead. They were walking along Piggots Croft in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham. There was nobody else around. Michael often likes to look up at the stars, so was looking up as they walked along. He suddenly noticed two glowing objects off to the right of him at around a 45 degree angle in the sky. They were initially side by side and were glowing orange-yellow in colour. They appeared star-like due to their high altitude, but appeared to be in the atmosphere. Aerial map of Piggots Croft: Photograph of Piggots Croft in the direction the orbs were first seen: The objects were moving extremely fast and were moving towards his location. As he watched they switched places, and changed from moving side by side to moving one after the other. They flew overhead and once more switched to being side by side again. As they started to move off into the distance they suddenly parted in a completely synchronised manoeuvre. One flew off to the left and the other off to the right. Within a short moment they had vanished into the distance. The whole sighting was so fast that by the time Michael informed his girlfriend and brother about the objects they were gone. Michael was in awe of what he had just witnessed. The objects had been moving much too rapidly to have been man-made objects such as high altitude aircraft or Chinese lanterns. Later on he calculated the speed that they must have been moving at based on the estimated height and distance they travelled. If the objects were about 1 km up then they were moving at approximately 1620 km per hour. If they were 4 km high then they must have been moving at around 6600 km per hour. They could have potentially been even higher than this, it was hard to tell. However it was clear that they were quite distant rather than small objects at quite a low altitude. Soon after the sighting he got in touch with the local police force to ask if anyone else had reported the lights. The police stated that they had not had any other sightings reported. They also contacted Birmingham International airport to see if anything had been picked up on radar. But Michael was at least informed that nothing had been detected. Michael says that the direction the objects moved away in meant that they would have flown directly over the airport, so either they genuinely weren't picked up, or were but this fact was covered up. Aerial map showing the sighting location (A) and Birmingham International airport (B): Sighting Analysis This sighting is truly fascinating and after speaking with the witness I feel quite sure that this was a genuine sighting of two advanced craft moving at an incredible speed. Often sightings of orange glowing lights after dark turn out to be nothing more than Chinese lanterns. Indeed it is even possible for lanterns to move positions in the sky and seem to follow one another as they drift on air currents. However I do not believe that this adequately explains what was seen in this case. The objects approached, passed overhead and vanished into the distance within the space of 6 seconds. It is inconceivable that lanterns would move at such a speed. Even when at relatively low altitude, where the structure and flickering flames are visible, they would still not be able to disappear in this short space of time. The objects that Michael witnessed were just glowing points of light and were clearly at high altitude. Also it was a very still night with no wind detectable, at least at ground level. The other very important aspect of this sighting is the manoeuvres that the objects were seen to perform. They certainly appeared to be aware of each other and switching formations. As previously mentioned it is possible for drifting objects to appear to possess intelligence. However drifting objects such as lanterns always follow generally the same path across the sky. They can be buffeted around and shift positions, but it is extremely unlikely that they would suddenly at the same moment head off in two opposite directions. This particular manoeuvre certainly appears to have been performed for a particular purpose, indicating that the objects were under control. Just as I have discovered with other cases I have previously investigated, not all glowing orbs seen after dark can be put down to Chinese lanterns or LED balloons, sometimes the facts point towards a much more unusual explanation.
