Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 21/12/2021 Last Updated: 02/02/2022 In October 2021 I met Chris James in a UFO-related Facebook group. He mentioned the fact that he had previously had some experiences. I contacted him and he agreed to share the details with me for the creation of this report. A Visitation In November 1975 when Chris was 5 years old he lived with his family in a house on Fentham Road, Erdington, Birmingham. He and his younger brother shared a bedroom at the front of the property and slept on a bunk bed. Chris had the lower of the two beds, while his brother slept on the top bunk. His parents used to leave the bedroom door open and the landing light on. This meant that the room was quite dark but the furnishings could still be made out. One evening he and his brother had gone to sleep at the usual time of around 7pm. At some point during the night Chris suddenly awoke for an unknown reason. When he opened his eyes he immediately saw a figure standing in the room about a foot away from the bed. The being was about three and a half feet tall. It had an oval shaped head which appeared to be hairless. Due to the darkness it was mostly in shadow, but the light from the landing lit up the right edge of it. He could just make out the reflection on one of its eyes. As soon as he saw the figure Chris screamed out in fear. As he did so the figure seemed to drop downwards and move underneath the bed. Chris leaned over the edge and briefly glanced it roll towards the wall and seem to vanish into it. A few seconds later both his parents came running into the room and put the light on, which of course also woke up his brother on the top bunk. Chris told them that there was someone under the bed. His mother picked him up to comfort him. His father said it must have been a bad dream. Chris continued to insist that the figure was there, so his father pulled the bed away from the wall show there was nothing under the bed. Chris felt sure it had literally entered the bedroom wall so said to him “It went into the wood.” To try and calm him down his father tapped on the wall to show it was solid. After this they put him back in bed and remained with him a while until he’d relaxed. They then left the room and Chris and his brother settled back off to sleep. Years later Chris asked his brother about the incident to see if he remembered it, asking him “Remember when I saw that thing in my room?” His brother replied “What? The alien?” This surprised Chris as he’d never referred to it as this. He wonders if his brother had chatted with his father about it and come to this conclusion. Obviously Chris was quite young when this happened, so the possibility that it was a dream cannot be completely put out of the question. However the shape and height of the figure would fit in with it being a Grey, and I have investigated many other cases where these beings have faded away extremely fast when they are seen or about to be discovered. Chris says the memory of this incident is very vivid and has troubled him for most of his life. Sometimes shadowy forms can be seen by people when suffering from sleep paralysis. Although Chris has actually experienced this on other occasions, it does not seem that he was experiencing it on this occasion as he was able to scream out for his parents. Usually when people experience sleep paralysis they also find they cannot shout out. The Apparition Between 1980-1984 Chris used to go to a boarding school in Wolverhampton (name purposely omitted). He used to stay on the school grounds at weekends along with many other children. There was an old Victorian building which housed the dormitories and sick bay. One weekend in 1981 they were playing outside and pretending to be soldiers when Chris fell in a ditch and cut open his knee. The teacher took him to the on-site hospital to get stitched up. He was then sent to the sick bay to heal up. He had to remain at the sick bay overnight. It was quite creepy, with cast iron beds and sounds such as the dripping of taps and creaking of pipes in the walls. He was the only one there at the time, and he found it too un-nerving to sleep. At around 1.30am he’d had enough and decided to go and find the staff member on night duty to ask if he could go back to his dormitory. He stepped out onto the corridor and walked along it towards the night duty room. Reaching the room he realised the light was off. The only light was coming from a clock on the wall in the corner. He could make out a figure sitting on the wooden chair in the room, who he of course assumed was the night duty officer, as she would often sit on this chair organising clothes for the school children. He asked her if he could go back to his own dormitory as he was finding it hard to sleep in the sick bay. The figure simply replied “Yes.” Please at this response, Chris walked back to his own dormitory and got into bed. A short while went by when he was rudely awakened by a light shining in his face. It was the night duty officer. She exclaimed “There you are!” Puzzled by this Chris told her that he’d spoken with her and she’d said it was ok to come back to the dormitory. Upon hearing this she told Chris she’d been downstairs doing laundry for hours and had not spoken with him. Who was the mysterious figure who had not only been present in the night duty room but had also responded to him? There were no other members of staff on duty who it could have been. Chris has always put the experience down to a ghostly apparition, someone who was haunting the old building. White Orbs In 2003 Chris lived in a house on Fuller Street, Cleethorpes near to the River Humber. One early morning there was a violent thunderstorm. He awoke at 3am with the sound of the thunder, and decided to get up and go and watch the storm from the back door. He got dressed, opened the door and lit up a cigarette. The gardens in the area had low dividers rather than tall fences. In neighbouring gardens he could see other open doorways with other people watching the storm. After a short while his landlord came downstairs, also woken by the noise. The main storm clouds seemed to be over Grimsby to the North West. The clouds were lit up in orange light from the town as well as Immingham Oil Refinery further along the river edge. Chris was looking up at the sky at a diagonal over the roofs of the houses on Neville Street. Suddenly he noticed some white star-like lights moving around in one of the storm clouds. There seemed to be up to 50 of them, small white orbs of light which were darting around. Interestingly they looked like they were under control, as they would never bump into one another. Whenever it looked like two were going to collide they would change course to avoid one another. Sometimes they would enter or emerge from the cloud with a white flash of light. Chris pointed them out to his landlord, but neither of them could identify what the orbs could be. His neighbours could also see the orbs and one of them joked that they were coming to take them away. They all watched the display for about 45 minutes until the storm finally moved off. The lights seemed to move with it. After the sighting Chris wondered if the objects had been detected on radar. He decided to ring the police to explain what they had witnessed. Upon hearing what he was describing they put him in touch with RAF Warrington. The person on the phone took down all the information in great detail, then told him that his call had been logged and someone would get back to him. A couple of days later he received a letter through the post from the UFO desk at the Ministry of Defence. It informed him that due to electrical interference nothing was picked up on radar. Afterwards someone suggested to Chris that the orbs might have been a flock of birds reflecting light. While this was a good suggestion, it seems unlikely due to the flashes of light which were occurring when the orbs moved in and out of the cloud. I asked Chris whether he felt the objects could have been ball lightning caused by the storm. He says that the movements seemed too controlled for this rather than randomly drifting. However I feel that given the circumstances, this is likely to be the explanation for what was observed. Ball lighting is rare but can occur under stormy conditions. While it is usually seen as a singular orb down near the ground, perhaps the air was electrically charged, causing many of them to appear in a particular location. This would explain why they moved off with the storm rather than remained. Alien Script? On a night in February 2020 Chris had a dream in which he was walking down to the seafront of his home town with some friends. When they arrived the scene suddenly changed and he found himself back in his home playing video games with them. At 2.30am he suddenly awoke from the dream for seemingly no reason. This is not something he would usually do, he informed me that most of the time he cannot even recollect his dreams at all. For an unknown reason he felt the urge to draw. At the time Chris was in the process of building a model of R2D2 from Star Wars which was being built slowly out of parts which turned up monthly. With this project he was provided a notepad, and it was this that he grabbed hold of. He turned to a blank page, picked up a pen and began to draw. He had no idea of what he was drawing, it just seemed to happen automatically. Once he had finished he put the notepad down, got up and went to have a cup of coffee and a cigarette. He thought nothing more of it. Below are the drawings Chris made in the notepad: As you can see Chris drew a number of shapes, X’s in specific patterns, a criss-cross of lines, two vertical columns of unusual symbols made up of lines and dots, an unusual shape with other symbols linked off it, and finally a horizontal rectangle with five other symbols in and a keyhole like shape alongside it. In late January 2022 Chris came across another contact case online which included symbolic writing. This writing reminded him of the symbols he had drawn two years previously. He managed to track down the notepad and locate the drawings. While it was clear that the symbols from the case did not match his own, it made him wonder whether they were ET in origin. Chris’s drawings are certainly unusual. While the shapes near the top of the page and patterns of X's could easily be put down to doodles, the lines of symbols which he drew and other odd shape with symbols around it appear quite specific and could well be a language of some sort. To my current knowledge they do not match any known language on Earth. While the dream he had did not suggest that a contact experience had taken place, it is bizarre how he woke from it and felt the need to do the drawings. I have investigated a number of other contact cases where people have either seen or felt the need to draw lines of symbols. While there is no direct match with these other cases either, they highlight the fact that this is a valid aspect of the contact phenomenon. In most instances the individuals involved either do not understand the meaning at all, or have a vague inkling of themes. They are sometimes shown the symbols on a screen, but in many cases see them as a vision in their mind, sometimes referred to as an “information download”. Conclusion Chris has had a number of interesting experiences throughout his life. The being he recalls in his room could well have been a visitation by a Grey, there are enough aspects of the experience to suggest this. It appears that this did not lead to any direct interaction, but it is of course possible that he has some missing memories. The symbols he drew in his notepad many years later are intriguing and may suggest further contact, although there was no indication of this at the time. Both UFO sightings and paranormal activity are regularly reported by contactees. However there is no evidence that either of the later two incidents Chris experienced were directly linked with his initial experience, and I am convinced that the glowing orbs were an electrical anomaly in the storm cloud rather than ET related. It is great that Chris has decided to get these incidents down on the record, and I would like to thank him for going over them with me. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 20/01/2022 In early January 2022 Shaun Watson got in touch with BUFOG to report a recent UFO sighting he had experienced. When I reached out to him to find out further details he also reported having a previous sighting in the same area. This report covers this incident in depth. Sighting Details On a Tuesday evening in February 2021 Shaun was on his way home after dropping off his niece who he’d been babysitting. It was around 9.30pm and the weather was clear, with the stars visible in the sky. He began driving South East East along May Lane towards his house. There were no other vehicles on the road at the time. He suddenly noticed three bright white lights in the sky ahead of him in a triangular configuration, with two at the top horizontal to one another and another third light lower down and between them. It was quite hard to determine the distance of the lights but he estimates they were about 500 metres away. The road was quite straight giving him a clear view of the lights. As he continued along May Lane he realised the three lights were moving. This change in position seemed to be relative to one another, convincing him that they were three lights attached to a singular large object, the main body of which he could not make out against the sky. If they were indeed attached to a large triangular object then this seemed to be rotating on it’s X axis in a clockwise direction. Shaun managed to observe the lights for about 20-30 seconds as he drove along the road. As he reached his house he turned right onto the drive, briefly losing sight of them. Rather than step out into the road (which would of course have been dangerous), Shaun headed through to his back garden to get a better (and no doubt safer) view. Unfortunately the lights were no longer visible. Thinking back to the sighting Shaun is certain that if they had been distant he would have still been able to see them, which suggests that they were possibly closer and blocked by the house. At the time he did not go back out front to confirm whether this was the case. Sighting Analysis It is hard to say for certain whether this incident did indeed involve a large triangular-shaped object with three white lights on, or whether they were three separate glowing objects which happened to move in such a way to give the impression that they were joined. Shaun observed them long enough to believe the former, but as he did not see the main body of the object (or even a silhouette of it blocking out the stars) this cannot be confirmed. If they were separate objects then there could of course have been a number of mundane explanations. From Shaun’s description they sound too bright to have been three satellites which happened to be travelling past one another. However they could well have been either three distant aircraft. As we do not know the precise date and time that this incident occurred I am unable to check Flight Radar 24 to confirm if there were any tracked aircraft in the air at the time. The 360 Radar website confirms that the area does not lie within a normal airway for passenger aircraft: It also confirms that the area does lie within controlled airspace, which decreases the possibility of it being untracked aircraft, although this is still a possibility: Another possibility is that the objects were three distant drones being flown, and the way in which they were manoeuvring led Shaun to believe that they were linked to one single larger object. This has similarities to his later sighting which occurred in January 2022, and the lights were seen in roughly the same direction. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 20/01/2022 Late evening on 5th January 2022 Shaun Watson got in touch with BUFOG via our online sighting report form to report a sighting of two glowing UFOs which had just happened. I soon contacted him via Facebook messenger to go over things in more depth. Sighting Details At 8.20pm Shaun stepped out into his back garden of his house on May Lane, Yardley Wood, to grab something from his shed. It was a clear and dry evening with only light cloud in the sky. As he walked down the garden he happened to glace to the South East East over the fence. Through the branches of some nearby trees he noticed two brightly glowing white lights positioned some distance horizontally away from one another. The lights were so bright that they emitted rays from their centre in different directions, most likely caused by atmospheric distortion. They seemed to be at quite low altitude at only about 10 degrees elevation. Shaun immediately noticed that the two lights were slowly moving towards one another. There were no other coloured lights visible and seemingly no sound coming from them, so he did not think they were distant aircraft. At first he assumed that they were attached to either end of a crane which was slowly rotating. He had not noticed a crane in the location before but this seemed like a logical explanation for what he was seeing. However as the lights reached each other they seemed to briefly merge together and stop for a few seconds. They continued on their paths, but after a moment the light which had came from the left (the North North East) stopped moving, while the other continued to the left. At this point Shaun realised they were separate from one another and not two fixed lights attached to a single large object. The other light which was still moving continued to the left until it was lost from sight behind the houses. At this point Shaun realised they may be something more unusual so he quickly ran back into the house to get his smartphone. Heading back outside he was pleased to find that the other orb of light was still present, so he started to film it. For almost a minute the light seemed to be stationary. Then suddenly it made a short and fast manoeuvre to the left before halting again. After watching for another minute the light started to travel upwards at a slow speed. At this point he lost sight of it on his smartphone camera and stopped filming. Shaun waited a short amount of time hoping the light would return. However it did not and in the end he headed back insde. Video Analysis Unfortunately by the time Shaun started to film, one of the two orbs had already left the area. Below is the 1 minute 57 second long video Shaun managed to capture of the remaining white orb: Here is a still of the light taken at 14 seconds into the footage after Shaun has zoomed in on it a little: At 56 seconds into the footage the orb suddenly shifts position a short way to the left. This is quite hard to make out due to camera shake at the same moment. The below picture indicates this manoeuvre: At 59 seconds the orb then travels a short distance back to the right, returning to roughly its original position: After hovering motionless again for a period of time, at 1 minute 36 seconds the object is lost from sight. Shaun moves the camera around in an attempt to locate it again. 10 seconds later the object re-appears and has now obviously moved a little to the right, which can be seen by the positioning of the tree branches: Shaun thinks that towards the end of the sighting the object started to ascend slowly upwards before being lost from sight. However this is not really observable in the footage. Sighting Analysis The glowing orbs seen by the witness clearly seemed to be two separate aerial objects, which can be determined by the reported movement of the first orb and recorded manoeuvres of the remaining one. I would agree that they are unlikely to be distant aircraft. No other navigation lights were observed and the fact that the recorded orb remains largely stationary means it cannot have been an aeroplane. Flight Radar 24 confirms that there were no tracked aircraft in the vicinity at the time: 360 Radar confirms that the area does not lie within an airway: It also confirms that it does however lie within controlled airspace, which reduces the possibility of it being an untracked helicopter: The relative lack of movement of the orb on camera suggests it is not a drifting lit object like a white coloured LED balloon, or an object in orbit such as the ISS or a satellite. It was a clear night so it could not have been ball lightning, and earth lights are both extremely rare and do not tend to appear over urban areas. However I feel there is a good chance that the orb on camera (and probably the previous one too) was a distant drone. These have the capability of hovering motionless and also making sudden darting manoeuvres exactly like those seen in the footage. At a distance if the drones had multiple lights on these would have merged into single orbs of light, and it would not have been possible to hear the buzzing sound of the rotor blades. While this cannot be confirmed without doubt unless the owner gets in touch this does seem like the most likely explanation. Shaun has previously had another sighting of a triangle of lights. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 05/01/2022 In early December 2021 Sarah Jane McGrath-Carter got in touch with me via Facebook Messenger to ask about BUFOG’s investigative work. In chatting with her she informed me she and her father had a sighting earlier in the year which she had managed to catch on camera. Below are the details of the incident and analysis of both the video footage and photograph. Sighting Details On the morning of Saturday 27th February 2021 Sarah Jane’s father went to the window of his house on Joshia Road, Longbridge, for a cigar. It was a bright and clear morning and approximately 11.40am. He glanced up into the sky and noticed a white or reflective orb-shaped object seemingly at high altitude. While still observing the object he called up Sarah Jane who lived nearby on Hanging Lane and asked her to look up into the sky. Sarah Jane went to her open bedroom window. Looking up at a sharp angle of 80 degrees to the South South West she too set eyes on the object. The orb appeared to be stationary. It was hard to tell exactly how far away it was (and therefore how large it was), but it seemed to be at high altitude. It wasn’t visible continuously, it occasionally seemed to vanish and then reappear seconds later. After watching for a short period of time Sarah Jane decided to attempt to capture the object on her iPhone camera. She first took a photograph of the orb, and then filmed it for 35 seconds. She did not continue to film it for longer as it was quite distant and did not appear to be leaving any time soon. Several minutes later, with the orb still present in the sky, she noticed something else in the sky over the North Worcestershire Golf Course to the West of Joshia Road. She saw what appeared to be either two or three dark oval-shaped objects. The objects were loosely circling at a consistent speed. They remained horizontal in orientation and did not appear to rotate. The movement seemed far too precise for them to have been either birds or balloons. Sarah Jane attempted to capture the dark objects on video but unfortunately they did not come out due to the distance. She continued to watch both them and the orb for a number of minutes, unable to work out what any of the objects could be. Suddenly another couple of orbs appeared close to the first one. They only remained visible a few seconds before vanishing. The remaining one then moved around in a circle like it was doing a loop-the-loop. After this both it and the dark objects appeared to vanish around the same time. After Sarah Jane realised the objects were unlikely to reappear she rang her father back to discuss what they had seen. She found out that he had only seen the initial high altitude orb, he had not remained at the window or seen the darker objects. Later on she posted about the sighting in a UFO related Facebook group. The members had a variety of thoughts on the incident. Several said they had seen something similar at the same time at other locations around the country. It is unknown at present if these other sightings were in any way related to what Sarah Jane and her father saw. Photograph and Video Footage Analysis Below is the photograph Sarah Jane took of the initial orb, with the date and time shown below it and the object ringed: Here is an enhanced version of the photograph: As you can see, the object seems to be too distant to make any clear identification. It appears round or spherical in shape. Below is the video footage that Sarah Jane shot soon after taking the photograph. Zoomed view of the UFO taken at 4 seconds into the footage: As there is no point of reference it is hard to tell if the object is moving slowly, or whether the clouds are slowly moving towards it and it is stationary. Sarah Jane thinks that it was the later of these possibilities, and that it only moved significantly towards the end of the sighting, long after she had stopped filming it. The object does appear either spherical or circular as Sarah Jane described, however due to the distance it is hard to accurately determine its shape. It is either white or highly reflective. The fact that Sarah Jane said it sometimes temporarily vanished from sight could indicate that it was capturing the sunlight at some moments and not at others, which could have made it look like it was vanishing and reappearing. At 27 seconds into the footage the object vanishes from sight. At this moment the cloud is close to it, and it is possible it has actually entered the cloud and been hidden from sight. It is unfortunate that Sarah Jane did not manage to capture the darker objects on camera. The fact that they did not come out indicates that they were far away and potentially quite small in size. Sighting Analysis There are certainly some intriguing aspects to the sighting, including the fact that the orb seemed to remain stationary for quite a period of time, the sudden appearance of the other two orbs, and apparent disappearance of both the orb and darker objects around the same time. That said, the timings involved with the incident could have just been coincidental and do not necessarily mean that the orbs were in any way related to the other objects, so they should be analysed independently from one another. The sudden appearance of the two other orbs, sadly not captured on camera, could have been down to them being caught in the sunlight or coming into view from the distance. I feel quite sure that the orbs were not distant aeroplanes or helicopters. They were hovering much too still in the sky to be planes, and even at a high altitude the rough shape should be possible to make out in the clear weather conditions. Flight Radar 24 website confirms that there were no tracked aircraft in the vicinity at the time as the below image shows: The below screenshot from 360 Radar confirms that the area does not lie within any airways: However it does lie within controlled airspace, decreasing the chance of the objects being untracked aircraft: The orbs did not show any signs of intelligent control during the sighting. According to the witness the initial orb remained largely stationary for most of the time it was visible. While this in itself could be considered suspicious, the weather was clear, so it could have been quite still in the sky even at that height. The circling movement it performed before finally vanishing could easily have been caused by it suddenly being caught in an air current. The relative stillness of the orbs for most of the sighting tends to suggest they were not birds. However after analysing the photograph and video footage I feel that these could have certainly been distant mylar balloons. Unfortunately we have no footage of the darker objects to analyse. But from the witness description I feel that these may well have been two or three distant drones being flown over the golf course. Sarah Jane says that the circling movement of them was very precise, and for this reason did not think they were birds or balloons. However this precise flight characteristics could certainly fit with them being under remote control. Also she confirmed that they looked oval shaped but remained horizontal in their orientation with no sign of rotation. At a distance a drone could conceivably appear this shape, and due to the way that they fly there would be no observed change of angle. It is possible that the drones were either landed or flown away into the distance out of sight at around the same time as the orbs also fully vanished from sight, giving them the appearance of being connected. None of the above suggestions can be categorically proved beyond doubt, so there is still the chance that this sighting was of something far more unusual. However it seems that a number of balloons drifting in the sky at the same time as several drones being flown at lower altitude is the most likely explanation for what was observed. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 01/12/2021 Last Updated: 02/12/2021 Neil Atenbury first got in touch with me in early September 2021 via phone to discuss some unusual experiences he has had throughout his life, starting in childhood. These experiences cover a wide range of phenomena including sightings of UFOs (some of which he has managed to capture on video), possible abductions, encounters with ghostly apparitions, premonitions and other paranormal events. This report contains many maps, witness drawings and analysis of the video footage, and provides a detailed overview of his experiences. An Early Visitation? Neil has an interesting memory from very early in his childhood. He thinks he must have been 3-4 years old at the time and sleeping in a cot. At the time he lived with his parents on Elm Road, Altrincham. He recalls something waking him up during the night, some kind of energy in the room. He also recollects seeing two very slender stick-like figures standing in the room, visible between the bars of his cot. It was too dark to see the figures clearly, they were just silhouettes. He does not remember them interacting with him directly in any way. While he was very young and this could of course have merely been a dream, there is the possibility that this was an early childhood visitation by two Greys. Around 2011 he was chatting with his father Michael while out driving and he mentioned to Neil that on a number of occasions they found that he had somehow managed to get out of his cot in the night. He would grab food products from the kitchen like flour and eggs and drop them all over the floor. In the end his father decided to put a cover over the cot at night to prevent him from getting out. It is likely that he was able to clamber out of the cot himself as opposed to this being linked to contact, but I have included it for interest. Mother Calling In 1977 at the age of 8 Neil and his family moved to a house on Leigh Road. It was a Victorian house with no central heating. One day he was downstairs. He could hear splashing coming from the bathroom and assumed his mother was taking a bath. He started to walk up the stairs. As he got near the top he heard his mother shouted out from the bathroom “Don’t come any further. You’re not to come in.” Thinking she was in some kind of trouble Neil went and opened the bathroom door. When he did so he found out there was no-one there and there was no water in the bath! A moment later his mother walked out from one of the other rooms, and did not speak with him or act in any way surprised! He does not recall telling her about what had just happened. This incident would be the first of a number of unusual experiences of a paranormal nature that Neil has had throughout his life. It is very common for contactees to experience paranormal activity within their vicinity. Gentleman’s Ghost Three years later the family moved again to Acacia Avenue. The house had a rear garden with adjoining garage. One day soon after moving in Neil found himself alone in the kitchen. It was a cloudy but dry day outside. He looked out through the kitchen window. About 20 feet away from him across at the far side of the garden he immediately noticed something strange. There was a semi-transparent figure of a man standing there. It appeared to be made up of smoke, and although colours could not really be seen, it was clear to see details. The man was wearing a suit with a waistcoat, pocket watch and top hat. He looked quite stout. Neil could barely believe what he was looking at! He glanced away a moment and looked back, but the figure was still there. As he watched, the entity began waddling slowly across the garden until it vanished into the solid wall of the garage out of sight. In total he had watched the figure for about 15 seconds. He recalls telling his parents about what he had seen, but cannot remember how they reacted. Although Neil was staring at the figure through a pane of glass it seems unlikely it was just a reflection in the window due to the length of time that he observed it for, as well as the fact that it moved across the garden yet its appearance remained consistent. Also, this was not to be the only time which Neil would see such an apparition. Dreams & Premonitions Between the age of 17-20 Neil would experience flying dreams extremely regularly. These dreams were very vivid, to the point that he was aware he was dreaming. He found himself hovering in the air outside his house. He enjoyed them at first, but on some occasions he found it hard to wake from them, which frightened him a little. Sometimes when he woke from the dreams he found he was paralyzed for a short period of time, which again was frightening. On several occasions Neil believes that he had premonitions of future events. As an example, on one night he saw himself at a distance riding along a road on his bike and wearing a particular set of clothes. A number of weeks later he found himself actually in that location, wearing exactly the same clothing. As he rode along he realised he had dreamed it previously. It was very different to what is known as Deja Vu. Towards the end of him experiencing these dreams Neil started to explore more and flew right up into the clouds. However soon afterwards they ceased and have rarely happened since. As with paranormal activity, it is common for contactees to express one or more psychic abilities. Premonitions are often reported, either of specific incidents or just of random events as mentioned here. Barn Door In June 1987 Neil spent a month helping out on a farm owned by the parents of one of his friends, Martin. The farm was called Calvadnack Lodge and it was situated just West of Carmmenelis, Cornwall. On the farm was a barn with a chained up door. Literally on the first night he was there, everyone awoke to a loud bang sound in the middle of the night. Heading outside, Martin’s father found the doors of the barn had been blasted wide open! There was no explanation for what had occurred. There was nobody around, and no sign of any devices which might have been used to break open the doors. Nor was there anything inside the barn at the time. It was a still night so the doors could not have blown open in the wind. A possible explanation is that someone had come to the farm in the night and broken into the barn expecting it to have contained something worth stealing. Finding the barn empty, they could then have then easily ran away and hid by the time the farmer had managed to get outside. Silver Disc A couple of weeks after the barn door incident, Neil had his first UFO sighting. Martin owned an air rifle at the time, and they would sometimes head to the farm fields to shoot makeshift targets. One sunny and still day they were at the fields with the gun. They were close to some megalithic standing stones which are on an area of open ground South West of the farm buildings. In the distance on the far side of the valley he saw what appeared to be a matt silver coloured disc-shaped object. It was hovering about 4000 feet up. Neil estimated it was about a mile away from their position and about 50 foot in diameter. It was moving on a straight and level course to the West. It seemed to be travelling about 70-100 mph. He nudged Martin pointing out the UFO and asked “Do you see that?” Martin confirmed that he did. The boys watched the object for about 15-20 seconds until it had vanished from sight into the West. Neither of the boys had a camera on them. A couple of minutes went by then suddenly the witnesses heard the loud roar of jet engines. They watched as two fighter jets flew along the valley at the same height and direction that the UFO had been travelling in! As it was distant, there is the possibility that the UFO had a mundane explanation, such as an inflatable of some kind. However it does seem to have been too large and moving too fast for this to have been the case, and its movement seemed very controlled. Another possibility is that it was a normal aircraft and the wings/tail could not be seen due to how far away it was, however it certainly looked unusual to the witnesses, and if this were the case then surely the jets which were seen soon afterwards would have also appeared the same and have been reported as two other discs. If it was a genuine sighting of a craft, then it is entirely possible that the two jets which the witnesses then saw had been sent out to intercept it. Neil is unsure of where the jets may have taken off from, as there are no airfields in the nearby vicinity. He confirmed to me that he did not see or hear any other jets for the remainder of the time he was at the farm. Back in 2013 Neil spoke with Martin about the incident and he recalled the incident. Since then he has lost touch with him. However he does know his cousin who lives locally. He has informed me that he will try to get in touch with him via her so that I can ask him for a witness statement. If Neil is successful in this, Martin's statement will be added to this report. Haunted Hotel In 1990 Neil took a job in the Outer Hebrides working as a night porter at Lochalsh Hotel in Kyle of Lochalsh. The hotel had quite a nice atmosphere after dark, it was not particularly foreboding. There was a small room just off the hotel foyer which always seemed to have a sweet odour to it, even though it was largely empty. However he was not particularly bothered by this. On his night’s at the hotel he would man the front desk on his own. At 1, 3 and 5 am he would get up and walk around to perform a security check. One night he was sitting on one of the sofas in the foyer of the hotel. It was between 1-3am and he was feeling quite sleepy. He knew he couldn’t drop off to sleep as he had the 3am security check to perform, but he decided just to close his eyes a minute. When he opened them he was shocked at what he saw. Sitting in front of him on the opposite seating were two figures. Their appearance was similar to the apparition of the portly gentleman he had seen years ago - like swirling smoke, but clear enough to make out specific details. One of the figures was male, the other female. They looked really ancient like cave people. Both of them were very thin looking with sunken facial features. They were wearing clothing made from animal furs. The male had short hair and what appeared to be a stone necklace around his neck. The female had long fine-looking hair. Both of the figures were staring intently at him with a disturbing grin on their faces. Neil only looked at them for a few seconds, just long enough to register what was taking place. He then jumped up and briskly moved away from the area. He got a drink of water and then paced around the hotel a while. He went to a different floor in the elevator trying to calm down. Seeing the two apparitions had understandably un-nerved him greatly. After a while he had to return to the front desk. The figures were no longer present. He could not settle for the remainder of the shift. When the receptionist turned up in the morning to relieve him of his duties he did not tell her about what had taken place. The Police & The Humanoid On 21st June 1992 was visiting his friend Steven in Hale, Manchester. Steven lived on Langham Road. It was a warm summer’s evening around 8-9pm. They were sitting on a wall at the top of the road and chatting. Suddenly a police car drove past them really fast. For some reason Neil thought something was going to happen and said to Steve “You know what? I bet they’re coming back.” Sure enough several minutes later several police cars and a van pulled up next to them. Several officers got out and approached them. They began by asking them formal questions such as their name and address and what they were up to. They then continued to ask them question after question. It seemed to go on forever! Eventually they frisked them and asked them to empty out their pockets. Upon finding nothing, Neil asked them what was going on. One of the officers informed him they were looking for someone wearing a black baseball cap like he had on. Then they gave them a pink paper copy of the report they had written up. They informed them that they may well be stopped again on the way home and if they were to show them the report copy. After this they jumped back in their cars and drove away. Steven was really anxious about what had just happened and Neil agreed that it had seemed really odd. They decided it would be best to head back to Hale Road where they lived. However because of what the police officers had said they decided it would be a good idea to avoid the main roads by cutting across the playing field of Alchrincham Grammar School on Marlborough Road. They walked across the entrance area of the school to where the edge of the playing fields lay. As it was now 10-11pm it was quite dark, with only the light of nearby streetlights lighting up the area. As they began to walk across the gras they suddenly noticed a figure standing ahead and off to their right. It was about 4-5 foot tall, was wearing hooded clothing and was holding a strong light in its hand. It seemed to be intensely focused on the ground and did not appear to have noticed them. Neil only observed it for a couple of seconds before turning and running away, already disturbed by what had happened previously. Steven shortly followed after him. Back on Marlborough Road the witnesses discussed what they’d just seen. Neil initially thought it might have been a security guard, but it seemed too short. Steven agreed that it looked unusual and did not think the school had night serurity. Despite being initially disturbed by the presence of the figure they felt curious enough to remain in the vicinity and observe it from a distance. They decided to walk along the roads that lead around the edge of the playing field to Heath Road. They knew that along here there was a gate to the far side of the field. By the time they got there 20 minutes had gone by. The gate was wide open. They looked across the playing field to where the figure had been. It no longer seemed to be present, but in its place was an extremely bright light which appeared to be rotating and changing colour from white to blue. They could see it lighting up the windows of the classroom as it turned. After about 5 minutes Neil decided to lie down on the grass. Steven remained standing by the gate. They continued to observe the strange light wondering what it could be. Suddenly there was an extremely loud mechanical screeching sound which appeared to have emanated from the direction of the light! The noise was deafening and absolutely terrifying. Steven immediately turned and ran. Neil jumped to his feet and also ran away back up Heath Road. Too much was happening and they’d both had enough of this odd situation! They ran right back up to the railway crossing on Victoria Road. It was now around 1am. They walked over the crossing towards a takeaway known as the Canadian Charcoal Pit (It has since been replaced with an Italian restaurant). It was now that another police car pulled up next to them. The officer asked what they were running away from and why they were out of breath. Neil did not tell him what had been going on at the playing field because he thought they would think they were making it up to get out of trouble. He just told them that they wanted to reach the takeaway before it shut. He got out the report and handed it over. The officer seemed happy with this, handed it back and drove away. After the police car had left they both plucked up the courage to once again walk back down to the playing field. They returned to the gate on Heath Road. The rotating light was still visible on the field. After a short while they decided to head for home. In the days following the series of incidents Steven kept bringing up what had happened and wanted to talk about it constantly. However after a while he became more withdrawn and stopped bringing it up in discussion. In late 1998 Neil’s parents moved to a farmhouse in Roscommon, Ireland. Neil also moved across there and spent a number of months helping them renovate the property. He initially kept in touch with Steven via occasional phone calls, but after a while lost touch with him. Many years later in 2007 their paths would happen to cross again. Neil was working as a security guard at a Subway. After standing outside for a number of hours someone suddenly called his name. He was surprised to see it was Steven! Steven almost immediately brought up the incident, asking him “Do you remember that night on the field?” Neil informed him that he did. Steven then went on to say something which he had never mentioned before. He said to him that when they had heard the loud screeching noise he had seen something large and dark black moving straight towards him. Neil feels that the reason he was keen to discuss the incident was because what he had seen haunted him and he wanted to find out if he had seen it too. After this brief meeting Neil did not keep in touch with Steven and has not spoken with him in quite a few years, so unfortunately I am unable to contact him about what took place. Although Neil and Steven found the actions of the police officers that night to be unusual, it is very unlikely that they had anything to do with what was seen on the playing field. The first officers they spoke with informed them they were searching for someone, so were probably on high alert. While it is possible that the figure witnessed was an alien being, it may well have merely been someone mucking around on the playing field wearing a hooded jacket / hoodie and holding a torch, not necessarily a security guard. The unusual lights which were seen later on were only seen at a distance so there is no way of confirming whether they were coming from some kind of landed object, or were again just lights being held by one or more people. There is also no way of knowing whether the screeching sound they heard had emenated from the same thing which was causing the lights or whether it was unrelated. Perhaps it was caused by some machinery being utilised nearby, or even a firework being set off out of sight. Glowing Orbs The house that Neil’s parents bought, and still live at, is in a rural location on the outskirts of Roscommon. As Neil spent a number of months there helping to renovate, he would sometimes go for drinks at Tom Riley’s in Castlecoote (The pub is now known as Castlecoote Lodge). Sometimes other regulars in the pub would ask him if he or his parents ever saw faeries around the grounds of the house. They informed him that the previous owners had reported seeing things in the area. One evening in the summer of 1999 he was at Tom Riley's when Michael came in around 10pm. He had a strange concerned look on his face. When Neil asked him what was wrong his father informed him that he had just witnessed ball lightning, and asked him to come back home with him. They headed back to the house together. When they got back home Michael went into more detail about what had occurred. He said that the house suddenly seemed to be surrounded in glowing orbs of white light. He said that there were several close to the property and others over in some nearby trees hovering about 10 feet off the ground. He estimated they were about the size of footballs, and hovered in the air for several minutes before vanishing. On a number of occasions in the months that followed Neil saw these strange lights for himself. There was usually only one at a time. He would see them out of the kitchen window. They would glide slowly and smoothly along towards the river. On some occasions he would see faint glowing white lights over an area of marshland near to the house, usually around dusk. It seems unlikely that what Michael and Neil saw at the property was ball lighting as on that day, and on subsequent occasions when the other orbs were seen, it was not stormy weather. However it is very possible that they were earth lights, also known as will-o-wisps. These are rare, naturally occurring, glowing lights which can occur over rural areas, often near to bodies of water. As the orbs seen in these instances were small and did not seem to express intelligence it is a reasonable proposition for what was seen. Red Sky At Night On another evening in September 1999 Neil was once again out at Tom Riley’s. After having a few drinks he set off on the walk back to his parent’s house. The route he took first led to the East away from the pub. He then turned left and began walking North along a narrow lane with trees on either side. It was after dark and there were no streetlights, but the moon provided some lighting through the gaps between the branches, and he was very familiar with the route. As he was walking along the lane he suddenly became aware of a bright red beam of light in the sky. It was hard to tell where the source of this beam was, but there were no establishments in the area or events going on which would have been responsible for it. Puzzled by the glow, Neil stared at it for several seconds before continuing his walk. Initially he thought maybe it was coming from a vehicle, maybe some people who'd been out fishing on the river. But as he walked round some bends in the lane he realised no-one was there. He glanced back behind himself. He could now see three or four red glowing streaks across the sky. The glow seemed to be coming from the area of the Derryhippo River to the West. He got his mobile phone out to call a friend who lived about a mile away from his location. His friend confirmed they could see it too from their home. As Neil watched the red glow seemed to move across the sky slowly to the East in the direction of River Suck. Soon it faded from sight and the usual darkness of the sky returned. Neil was amazed at what he had just seen and wondered what it could have been. The following day he rang up a local radio station to tell the story of what had happened. Numerous other people started to ring into the show to report that they had also seen it. Due to the time of the incident the red light in the sky could not have been caused by the setting sun. From Neil’s description it seems too large and bright to have been caused by reflection on the clouds off a passing aeroplane. However there is a natural explanation which may be responsible. When oxygen atoms in the upper atmosphere interact with charged particles of the solar wind sometimes this causes a red glow in the sky, a rare type of aurora borealis. The aurora borealis usuaully occurs over Northern countries such as Iceland and Alaska. However it can also sometimes be seen in Ireland, especially in rural locations with no light pollution. Given the fact this incident took place in a very rural location it is certainly possible that this was the cause of the red light observed although there is no way of confirming this beyond doubt as it took place so long ago. The red lights seen were too spread out to have been emitted from a specific object so I find it unlikely this is a UFO related incident. Aerial Anomaly It was a hot sunny day in the summer of either 2001 or 2002. Neil was sitting out in the front garden of his parent’s house relaxing in the sun. There were no clouds and it was a beautiful day. He suddenly noticed a strange glowing light in the sky. It was to the West at an elevation of 75 degrees and appeared to be at very high altitude, over 30000 feet. It was a curved shape, similar to a Wotsit crisp, and was glowing bright orange-yellow colour. The light was completely stationary. Neil thought to himself “That’s weird!” He watched the object for a number of minutes. He did not try to capture it on camera as it looked too far away to really show up. Soon afterwards he was once again outside when he again noticed the same light in the same location. Neil claims that it was present in the sky for a number of weeks, but was only visible on very clear days with no cloud. On one occasion his uncle had come to visit and also witnessed it. On this occasion they actually headed away from the address along the lane to a higher vantage point, but it could no longer be seen. Due to the length of time the light was present for, and the fact that it was stationary and kept appearing at the same place in the sky I find it very unlikely that it was any kind of craft, or even solid object. It was most likely some kind of natural reflection of sunlight. This explanation would fit with the fact it was only visible on clear cloudless days. Appearing Livestock When not assisting his parents with their home renovations, Neil stayed at a bungalow on a lane just off the R366. While living at the address Neil would wake up in the morning to find various farm animals in the front garden of the property! There would be a mix of sheep, cows and horses. The incidents would sometimes happen numerous times over a relatively short period of time. The farmer would usually turn up later in the day and collect them. Neil never spoke with him directly, he found the whole situation a little surreal. There were sheep in the field opposite the bungalow, so it is possible that they were escaping from that and walking across the road to feed on the grass of his lawn. There was a nearby field with horses in however this had an electric fence round it so Neil had no idea how they could be getting out. And he was unaware of any fields with cows in, at least in the local area. Even though Neil was mystified as to how the animals were escaping from their fields, or why they kept ending up on his front lawn, it is unlikely that anything unusual or paranormal was taking place. The animals may well have also ended up outside other houses in the area too on other occasions without his knowledge, and were probably just aware that there was nice fresh grass to feed off at this location. Man At The Door In the spring of either 2002 or 2003 while living at the property Neil had two experiences within weeks of one another which had a lasting impact on him. One night he went to bed quite late between midnight and 1am. He was woken around 4am by what he was convinced was a loud knock on the front door. He got out of bed, quickly put some clothes on and went to see who was at the door. When he opened it he was greeted by the sight of a tall man wearing some kind of uniform. The man was standing really straight. He was about 6 foot 5 inches and quite well built. It was quite dark outside as there were no street lights on the lane, but he was still able to see him. The clothing he had on was wearing looked somewhat similar to the post man who would sometimes come to the door, but this figure was much taller. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket with buttons down the front, and a hat. The man was holding a strange metallic device. He handed the device to Neil. For an unknown reason Neil knew that the device had to be constructed, and also he felt excited to do this. He placed the device down on the floor and began assembling it. It ended up looking like a strange tripod-like object with three spiked legs. Neil had no idea what it was for, but was amazed that he had managed to put it together without instructions. This is where his memory of events ended. The next thing he became aware of was of waking up at 7am, earlier than he would usually wake up. He immediately remembered what had happened and felt excited to go and find the constructed device. His heart was racing, as what had taken place felt so real, far more vivid than a dream. It took him a minute to realise that the device may not actually be there. Sure enough, when he checked for it, it was nowhere to be found. Neil says that the memories of this incident have remained with him to a great level of clarity. It felt far more than just a strange dream, and he wonders if this figure at the door was actually an ET, potentially masking its true appearance. A known aspect of contact experiences is screen memories – where the beings or their craft appear differently to the individual in recollected events. Sometimes they seem to appear in forms familiar to the individual. Neil wonders if this was a being which was intentionally making itself look like his postman, as he would be one of the only people to regularly come to the front door. This is an interesting possibility, especially considering what took place next. Abduction Memories Within a month of the previous incident, Neil had another experience, this time even more vivid. He thinks that on the night it took place there had been a power cut. The lights had started flickering around 8pm and some point around midnight they had gone off entirely. This was not an unusual occurrence, this had happened a number of times before, but essentially with no light to see anymore there was nothing much to do except go to bed. Neil recalls coming round at some point during the night to find he was no longer in his room. He was in a completely white room and sitting at a white coloured oval-shaped table. The surfaces seemed luminescent. Everything was very sparse and clinical. There were no visible panels, buttons or lights and no other furnishings besides the table. It was impossible to see where the walls stopped and the ceiling or floor began. There were three beings sitting alongside him at the table, with a fourth facing away from him on the far side. The one right next to him looked female, whereas the other three looked male. They were humanoid but had larger heads, longer foreheads and very thin long necks and arms. They were completely hairless. Their skin was a dark olive colour and they were wearing white coloured robes. They were sitting down but Neil estimated that they were 7-8 feet in height. The beings all had beautiful chiselled features, and looked almost angelic. Their mouths were barely visible and were expressionless. Neil was particularly transfixed by the female being alongside him, so his focus was mostly on her. She was sitting extremely closely, only a few inches away from him. It was almost like she wanted him to examine her. He suddenly heard a voice inside his head speaking to him. He was certain the voice was coming from the female being, but it was directly inside his mind rather than audible. She said “We don’t get down here to you too often, we don’t have the opportunity to get here too frequently.” She then went on to explain that there was another species/type who do not land but remain above us in the sky. This other type of being has malicious intent and are transmitting information and enslaving humanity through technology. They don’t know what love or compassion is and don’t directly possess emotions. There is a certain energy which we have which they want, and through technology they are able to manipulate us. The telepathic message Neil received appeared to be a warning about the use of technology. He is unsure if it was meant solely for him or for the whole of humanity. After this he was led through to another room through an open doorway by the female being. At least one of the male beings also came with them. Ahead of them on the far side of this adjoining room was a huge oval-shaped window, about 50-60 feet across. Through it Neil could see what he assumed was our sun. He was fascinated by this view and started to walk across the room towards the window. The beings remained further back behind him. He got to about 4 feet away from it and stared out at the sun. It was very bright but not blinding. It is possible that the window was filtering out some of the light. He could see huge solar flares ejecting from the surface. This was the end of his recollection When he came round he found it was morning time and he was back in his bed. Unlike before it was around 9.30am, the normal time he would wake up at. Immediately the memories came flooding back to him in vivid detail. He was absolutely blown away with what had taken place, and was visibly shaking. He looked around for a cigarette. Finding that he had none left he got dressed and drove down to the local shop to pick up a pack. Inside the shop he couldn’t contain himself and told the shopkeeper the entire story of what had happened during the night. He seemed fascinated by what Neil had to say. Could Neil really have been taken aboard a craft and then flown to a point in the solar system much closer to the sun? While this may seem hard to believe I feel that this incident could well have been an abduction experience, either one which took place during the night, or a flashback to a previous incident. There are a lot of details which match other cases on record. Many contactees have reported finding themselves in white glowing rooms devoid of furnishings. The beings are very interesting and not one of the commonly reported types/species. There are numerous other cases on record of Nordic (humanoid) beings having olive-coloured skin and wearing white robes. However in most cases these beings tend to have blond or pale coloured hair. The beings Neil met seemed to have Grey-like aspects to them such as the oversized heads and slender frames. There is the possibility they were some kind of hybrid being with aspects of numerous species/types. Neil found the experience positive rather than frightening, possibly due to the fact that he was not paralyzed and the fact that the beings actually spoke with him. The details shared with him are interesting. There are many other cases where people have been given similar warnings of an environmental nature about the dangers of technology, including the incredible Ariel School landing incident in Zimbabwe. This is another aspect which leads me to believe that this may have actually taken place. Unidentified Lights By 2020 Neil was living in Belfast. On the evening of 24th January he was walking home along Lagan Towpath alongside the River Lagan. It was overcast but dry and not particularly cold. Earlier in the day it had been quite busy, but now at 6.10pm there were not many other pedestrians around. Due to the time of year it was already fully dark. A new bridge was being constructed near to the Coffee Box Boat Club. As he walked past the semi-constructed bridge he noticed that the crows in the trees on the other side of the river were making a lot more noise than they would usually make. He had walked past the location many times but had never heard them act like this. He stopped at the bridge intrigued at what was disturbing them. After watching for a short while, Neil started to walk South along the Towpath. Suddenly about 50 yards ahead of him further along the path he caught the sight of three to five extremely bright lights in a staggered formation quite close to the ground. He thought it must be a vehicle of some kind and expected them to move towards him, but there was no sound coming from them. After a few seconds the lights vanished before he had a chance to grab his mobile phone and photograph or video them. He remained still to see if anything else would take place. About a minute later suddenly noticed another orb of light. He started to film the light on his phone and watched them on the phone screen as he did. After a moment the orb seemed to turn a bright green colour. It remained like this for a number of seconds before changing back to white. Soon a second light also briefly appeared and seemed to briskly move towards the initial one. This one seemed to have a red tinge to it. Both orbs then quickly vanished from sight. Neil waited a while to see if they would re-appear but they did not. Below is the footage Neil managed to take of the orbs: As you can see at first there is a single point of light which initially appears white. Below is a zoomed view of the orb: After a few seconds the focus is lost on the orb by the camera and at the same time it appears to change to a bright green colour: This is a known camera artefact and does not mean the orb has actually changed colour. Sometimes when filming a bright light on a dark background the camera does not know what colour to set so will choose one. It can be seen that once the focus returns the orb changes back to a white colour again, which supports this explanation. After 12 seconds another orb appeared slightly above and off to the right of it. Like the first, this generally appears white. The light flickers on and off for a moment, possibly hidden behind vegetation. It then moves swiftly to the left. As it moves the reddish tinge reported by the witness can briefly be made out: It moves slightly past the initial orb, seems to curve back round towards it then vanishes. A second later the initial orb also disappears. Due to the distance and lack of other details in the footage it is hard to say what the orbs may or may not have been. Neil was mystified because they appeared to be coming from further along the path a short distance off the ground, yet when he reached the position he believed they had been at there was nobody there. It is possible that they were caused by lights or mobile phone being held by two people who had walked off by the time Neil arrived. However the lights do move somewhat strangely, especially the speed at which the second orb approaches the initial one. Triangular Lights In late July 2020 Neil was once again walking North along Lagan Towpath late in the evening, around 11pm. It was a still and pleasant evening. He was talking to a friend on speaker phone as he walked. About a quarter of a mile ahead of him he saw some lights close to a bench. He assumed it was a couple of cyclists. As he got closer the lights suddenly vanished without trace. Standing at the location he happened to glance across the river at the thick vegetation on the far side. Suddenly within this area two red lights projecting what looked like triangles of blue coloured light appeared (Neil has called them pyramids in his drawing below but they were flat shapes not three dimensional glowing objects). The triangles appeared to be about 13 foot in height. They were motionless and there was no sound coming from them. As he was on the phone call at the time he was unable to film them, and within seconds the two lights vanished. Neil was mystified as to what they could have been. He wondered if it was some kids camping over there in the trees, but the vegetation was so thick this did not really make much sense. He remained at the location for about an hour waiting to see if they would reappear but they did not. He began to continue to walk home, still chatting with his friend on the phone. As he did so the phone suddenly shut down. Being in the valley he would sometimes lose signal, but this seemed unusual as he was convinced he still had plenty of battery left. He rebooted the phone and sure enough it said 40% battery life. He rang his friend back up, but again the phone shut down. When he rebooted it again it now said it had 23% battery left. At the top of the valley he once again tried calling and the same thing happened. When he switched it back on again it now said the battery was only at 3%. This was the only time he had experienced this with his phone, and since that evening it was worked fine. Neil wonders if it was in some way linked with what he had seen. While the white lights seen along the path could easily have been caused by other walkers, potentially lights from their mobile phones, the red and blue light configurations seen are harder to explain away, especially due to the dense trees where they were seemingly situated. The sighting location photograph was taken in the winter and the vegetation looks thick, so you can imagine how thick it gets in the summer. As there was no direct interation between these lights and Neil I find it improbable that what happened to his phone battery was related. I have had false readings on my mobile before where the battery life initially looked quite good but then seemed to drain really fast. Green Formations It was 11pm on Saturday 11th September 2021. By now construction of the new bridge across the river was completed. Neil was standing on the Lagan tow path checking it out. Suddenly overhead up in the clouds he saw a formation of around 5 green triangular shaped lights fly across the sky extremely fast. The shapes were clearly defined with sharp edges. Over the following 20 seconds three similar formations also appeared, travelling in the same direction to the North East. The lights were so fast that he did not have enough time to grab his smartphone and capture them on camera. There was no sound whatsoever. He continued on his way home, keeping an eye out, but nothing else took place. Neil wondered if they had been some kind of light display, however he was confused as to why they had not gone on longer if this was the case. He said that the lights looked like they were flying through the lower cloud layer. I feel that there is a very high likelihood that the lights were a green laser projection hitting the base of the clouds. There were actually two music events on this date, Belsonic and Planetlove. Belsonic is a yearly rock and Britpop music festival which was taking place at Ormeau Park, 1 mile North North East of the location of the new bridge. It was quite a sizeable event with a large main stage. Planetlove is a multi-stage yearly dance festival which was taking place at Boucher Road Playing Fields 1 mile to the North West. As you can see from the below flyers, the final DJs on each state actually ended at 11pm: The below video is from the Billy Gillies set, the last DJ to play on the Subculture stage. As you can see lasers are being used and are hitting the cloud layer in the distance making quick darting patterns as Neil reported. These may be the exact beams which Neil observed. I reached out to the companies behind both festivals via their Facebook pages to request further information but sadly never got a response from them. However given the fact that lasers were being shone from Planet Love around the same time as the sighting it seems very probable that this was the reason for the lights seen. Light in the Clouds On the evening of 25th September 2021 Neil sat on a bench on the Lagan tow path before making his way home. He noticed in the distance a glowing area of light on the clouds in the distance. It was a long bar-like shape and was moving backwards and forwards. Neil grabbed his mobile phone and took the following video footage: As you can see, Neil only managed to capture one sweep of the light before it vanished. However due to its appearance it is extremely likely that this was a search light being shone up from the ground, a point which Neil audibly wonders about while filming. The first day of AVA dance music festival took place on this date at Boucher Road Playing Fields. I have attempted to find out if any search lights were used at the event, but like before have not had any response. However, as with the green triangles, it extremely likely that this was the explanation for the light due to the panning manoeuvres it was performing. Darting Lights Early on the evening of Sunday 7th November 2021 Neil was walking home across Lagan Meadow. There was nobody else around at the time. He sat down on on of the benches positioned at intervals along the snaking path for a rest, and decided to give his friend a call. It was 6.15pm and due to the time of year the sun had already fully set. The weather was clear and dry, with very little cloud cover. In the distance to the South he suddenly saw a white glowing oval-shaped object fly across the sky. The object was low down in the sky at an elevation of 10 degrees. It travelled from his right to his left towards the East and moved on a perfectly straight course. It took about 7-8 seconds to cross the sky and seemed to be travelling much faster than a distant aircraft. There was no sound heard whatsoever although this could have been due to the distance. The object had a bright glowing aura of light behind it. The exact shape was hard to tell, it is possible it was stretched out into an elongated shape because of the speed it was travelling at. Because he was on the phone at the time he was not able to get a photograph or video. He described what he had just seen to his friend. The area lies within the flight path for Belfast Airport. About 15 minutes later Neil watched a passsenger aircraft heading Eastward and making its descent. Suddenly a bright orb of white light seemed to appear behind it, shoot away from it to the right and then vanish. It was only visible for a second before it had gone. Neil was amazed that he had seen two unidentified lights within the same period of time. He wishes he had managed to get them on camera but the sightings were both too brief. The initial object which was seen is interesting as it sounds too fast to be an aircraft or lit inflatable, yet too slow to be a meteorite. Also the fact it was travelling on a level course instead of descending as it moved seems to point away from this as the explanation. There is the possibility it was a drone with bright white lights on and was closer than it seemed to be. The second light which was seen could easily have been a meteorite due to the fact it was travelling very fast and only visible for a brief moment. While it cannot be conclusively proven that it was this, it seems like the most likely explanation. Conclusion As you can see, Neil has had some very interesting experiences over the years. Although some of his sightings may have mundane explanations, some earlier incidents are harder to explain. The vivid dreams he had back in 2002 or 2003 could well have been recollections of a visitation and abduction. Another sign pointing towards contact is of course his early recollection of thin figures standing in his bedroom. Contactees regularly report experiencing paranormal activity in their vicinity or seem to possess psychic abilities. Neil has had some fascinating sightings of ghostly apparitions, and seems to have had premonitions of future events too. As Neil’s experiences have continued to the present day, there is a good chance he will have further experiences moving forward. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 10/11/2021 Last Updated: 19/11/2021 Devon farmer Adrian Johns initially got in touch with BUFOG on 25th September 2021 via our sightings reporting form on the website to report an incident which happened back in 1996 while he was working in Venezuela. It became apparent from the form details that Adrian had not only seemingly witnessed a UFO alongside others, he had also watched it crash land! Over numerous follow on phone calls and E-Mails the full details of this stunning incident, never before reported, came to light. This report goes over this fascinating and important case in depth. Background Adrian has been a farmer for most of his working life. He currently lives in Bideford, Devon. However back in 1975 when he was 26 years old there was a farming crisis and a severe decline in revenue. At the time he rented a farm, but due to the crisis could not afford to pay the rent for it, and was unable to take a loan out either. He came across an advert in Farmers Weekly in which Union International were offering a position for a cattle ranch assistant in Venezuela. At the time he was single so had very few ties to the UK. He decided to apply for the job. According to Adrian over 100 people applied for the position, but he was successful in securing it. And so, in September 1976, he moved across to Venezuela and began working on a ranch near to Valencia. As the years went by, he worked at a number of different ranches, and gained a name for himself in the area. In 1996, the year the incident took place, he had rose to the position of Ranch Administrator, and worked at Corralito Ranch, Cojedes, North North East of El Baul. His two step-brothers Edgar and Tony also worked there. Parts of the ranch were covered in thick jungle vegetation, which were home to some interesting, sometimes dangerous, wildlife. As an example here is a photograph of Adrian meeting an anaconda: He was well known in the area, to the extent that he was even mentioned in a book called “Painting The Jungle” by famous historian and wildlife painter Jan Dungel. Here is the front cover of the book and a page which includes a passage about Adrian: The author sent Adrian a copy of the book, even writing a personalized message for him inside the front cover: Incident Details It was between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day of 1996. Due to the time of year many of the employees of the ranch had gone home to see their families. Adrian, Edgar and Tony remained at the ranch, as well as a number of other cowboys. It was around 6pm and due to the time of year the sun would soon be starting to set. Every evening Adrian would drive to the main gate of the ranch to lock it up and prevent unwanted visitors during the night. He set off from the ranch centre with Edgar, Tony and three cowboys named Bartolo, Uvenci and Pajarote in his white Ford 150 pickup truck. There was no real need for them all to come along, he just invited them along for the company. It was a wonderful clear evening, very warm and dry, with no clouds in the sky. They drove along the gravel road which led past the landing strip and followed the central hills of the ranch. They reached the gate about 6.30pm. After locking it, they headed to the gate house to meet up with the guard who lived there with his family. After a cup of black coffee and a chat with the guard, the men set off back to Corralito Ranch centre about 7pm. By now the light had almost gone from the sky. Adrian drove the truck, his step-brothers sat next to him, with the three cowboys on the back seat. They reached the landing strip (which had been blocked off to prevent unauthorized landings) and continued along the road which ran alongside it. Suddenly Adrian, Edgar and Tony all spotted something in the sky at once. There ahead of them and off to their left to the East was a glowing object at very low altitude, around 50 feet off the ground. For a brief moment Adrian assumed it was the ranch owner arriving un-announced in a light aircraft, but then realised it was moving much too slowly for this to be the case, 20mph or even slower. Upon realising this he slammed the brakes of the truck on. Everyone leapt out of the truck to get a better look. Adrian estimates that the UFO was about 100 feet away from their position. It appeared to be a brightly glowing cigar-shaped object. Half way along it, within the bright yellow light, he could see a round white window or porthole. He says that there may have been others hidden behind the glowing light emanating from the object. He estimates it was about 30 feet across, around the same size as a Cessna 414. It was clear that from the height it was at it that it must have manoeuvred between the central hills of the ranch off to the East of their location without hitting them. The object moved on a straight and level course heading in a South West West direction. It was completely silent despite its apparent closeness. As it glided across the road ahead of them it suddenly burst into flames. The orange flames flowed across its surface as it continued to travel on the same course and speed. There was no smoke or vapour trail. The men watched the object in awe for a couple of minutes, talking to each other about it. They did not have a camera with them so taking a photograph or video of the object was not an option. As it moved away it slowly rose in altitude to match the topgraphy of the terrain (only by a short distance, perhaps another 50 feet). It passed over a low hill on the far side of the landing strip, and then over the boundary of the ranch. Without warning the object suddenly broke up into numerous flaming pieces! There appeared three large segments and a few smaller pieces. They began to separate off in different directions and fall down to the ground. Adrian says the speed of this descent also felt slower than would have been expected. It took about 20 seconds for the pieces to fall out of sight into the trees in the distance. It was hard to say exactly how far away it was when this took place as it was completely dark by now and hard to judge the distance. However it could not have reached the hills to the South West West as otherwise it would have either climbed greatly in altitude or crashed into them. Unfortunately the men were unable to drive over to the location where the pieces seemed to have touched ground, as it was the wet season. The area of jungle outside of the boundary of the ranch was heavily flooded and marsh-like, making it extremely difficult to explore by vehicle or on foot. They continued to discuss what they had just witnessed as they got back into the truck and drove the rest of the way to the ranch centre. Previous Sightings The men were seemingly not the only witnesses to the object. The following day Adrian had the radio on when someone reported that a small Cessna aircraft to the South of Apure had to make an emergency landing at San Fernando de Apure the previous afternoon because of a close encounter with a brightly lit object which had crossed in front of him. The pilots reported that the object had been travelling to the North. A family friend named Andrea lived on the ranch. They had family living in a village called Guardatinjajas to the North East East of the ranch. Andrea had gone to visit her family for the Christmas period. When she returned in early January and found out about the incident from Adrian, she informed him that an unusual glowing object was observed over the village by numerous people on the same afternoon. The object they saw was initially headed Northward, but suddenly made a sharp turn and began heading to the West. It seems likely that the three incidents were related and were sightings of the same thing, due to the fact that they all occurred within hours of each other and all reported a glowing aerial object. As the pilots of the plane made an emergency landing at San Fernando they must have been in the vicinity. They reported the object as travelling North. San Fernando lies roughly South of Guardatinjajas, so it would have reached the village if it continued on the same course. The villagers reported that the object had abruptly turned and headed off to the West. Corralito Ranch is roughly West of Guardatinjajas so again this would make sense if the object made no further significant changes to direction before reaching the landing strip where it was observed by Adrian and the other witnesses. From the details provided it is possible to create a map showing the estimated route of the UFO on the afternoon of the incident. Crash Site Inspection Adrian says that by late February the dry season had begun, and the area where the pieces of the object had came down had dried out enough to be explored. One day he decided to head out to the location with several other farm hands. He did not tell his step-brothers or the cowboys who had witnessed the UFO, it was a spur of the moment thing. He extensively searched the area with the farm hands for a period of hours, but sadly found nothing. However this does not mean that nothing came down. Adrian informed me that there was heavy vine growth in the area, so it is possible the pieces had sunken into the wet ground and then been grown over by vegetation, preventing them from being easily spotted. Reluctantly he returned to the ranch centre and soon afterwards told the other witnesses that he had found nothing. Incident Analysis This is a fascinating account of what appears to be the genuine crash landing of a highly unusual object. While it seems likely that the previous sightings in South Apure and Guardatinjajas were the same object there are not enough details to prove this conclusively. So let’s first analyse the sighting over the ranch on its own. One of the issues with the apparent low altitude of the object is that there are hills both to the East and West of the air strip. However Adrian assumes that the object must have steered between the hills to the East (if it had indeed travelled West from Guardatinjajas), which would of course indiciate it was under control. And the route the object travelled on meant it avoided the taller hills to the West. This can be seen from the below topography map, which indicates the position of the witnesses and the estimated route of the object: I asked Adrian whether the object could have been a light aircraft a higher altitude than it appeared to be, travelling at around 30 mph (the slowest speed a light aircraft could potentially fly at) and reflecting the setting sun, and thatperhaps tiredness due to the time of day could also have been a factor. He provided the following statement relating to this theory. "We all could not understand why this object was in the air at such a slow speed. Hence it must have been well below 40 mph. In fact, it could well have been 20 or below as it seemed to take an age to cross the pista/landing strip. I stand by the height. It did not reach the nearby hills as we definitely saw the pieces falling in the night sky to tree level before disappearing from sight. If it had reached the hills, then we would have seen the pieces ground-up high. At that time it was complete darkness. All of us were very accustomed to seeing different small planes arriving at Hato Corralito at all times of the day. Exceptionally early when the sun had not shown itself to late in the evening when dusk was turning to night. Planes had flown in from over our hills coming from North to South and taking a large loop to land from the West. The night was almost on us. Deepening dusk turning to night. The object glowing was not from the sun. Definitely not. The object when it disintegrated would have been higher than when passing over the pista. Due to the difference in topography, it could have been as much as 100 feet up as opposed to 50 feet which is what we collectively thought originally as it passed in front of us at the pista. The speed of descent seemed a long time as we watched. Again, probably to us, it seemed a long time but thinking about it, the time it took to fall must have been relatively short due to its height and one could take into consideration that the material employed in the construction of said object may have been lighter than normal metal. One must remember that when I had contact with my boss he confirmed that there had been no reported plane crash and no missing pilot. He and his two brothers were experienced pilots even flying to Florida in their planes. As for being tired, no way. As this was between Christmas and the New Year, the only work being carried out was the Caporal with his men moving cattle within their rotations, nothing more. Me, tidying up my office and taking time out. In twenty-five years running the ranch, I must have witnessed certainly more than 1000 flights in and out with planes up to 20 seaters. At all times of the day. What we saw was definitely not a plane of any type or size. Neither was it illuminated by the sun, as that had dropped below the hills and the night was almost on us, light disappearing fast as it did in Venezuela." Based on Adrian's statement I would say that it is clear the object was clearly not a normal aircraft or helicopter reflecting the fading sunlight, and that it was self-luminescent. At this distance it passed the witnesses it would have been easy to see the shape of the object, including any wings or tail if it had any. It would also have been possible to hear the sound of engines or rotor blades, yet Adrian says that the object was completely silent. It seems very unlikely that it was a balloon or other drifting inflatable. You would first have to ask why someone would launch such a thing in the first place, given the fact that the sighting occurred in a very rural location many miles away from any urbanized areas. As previously mentioned, the object seemed too bright to be reflection of sunlight, and the sun was near set, so if it was a balloon/inflatable this would have to have been lit from within. Chinese lanterns were not commercially available back in 1996. It appeared to be much too large to be a lantern, the wrong shape and the wrong colour too – lanterns are usually an amber orange colour. A lantern would not have had the round window/porthole which Adrian described seeing. The object remained on a straight and level course for a number of minutes. While it is possible for a lantern to get caught in an air current, a small amount of drift would usually be noticeable. While a lantern could conceivably catch on fire and continue to drift for a period of time while burning, it would not break up into separate pieces as was observed. While most LED balloons are quite small in size, larger ones are sometimes created for celebrations, and can even be flown via remote control. However these are a relatively modern thing and were not available in the 1990s. Also it is very unlikely that an LED balloon would catch fire or break up into separate pieces. It is extremely unlikely to have been ball lightning. This is relatively small in size, rounded in shape (hence the name) and can only occur in stormy weather. It was a beautiful afternoon with a clear sky. An earth light is also highly improbable. Again these tend to small in size and occur close to the ground for short periods of time. Neither ball lightning or earth lights would have window(s)/porthole(s), and would not visibly catch fire. The fact that the object broke apart into various segments suggests it was solid rather than made up of glowing energy. There are two explanations which at least have some similarities to what was reported. The first of these is a hydrogen-filled airship. Airships are quite large in size and tend to be white in colour, which could conceivably look like glowing yellow if reflecting sunlight. They are also a similar shape to what was described. As they are piloted they can travel on a straight course, and tend to do so at a slow speed. However there are a number of significant issues with this explanation. Firstly there are no windows around the centre of an airship, they are on the cabin which hangs below the inflated balloon. Adrian does not recall seeing anything at the base of the object. Airships tend to have short tails and side fins, again notably absent. The propellers of an airship are quite loud and make a droning noise which the witnesses would surely have heard as it passed in front of them. Lastly if an airship caught fire and eventually exploded, the sound of this would definitely have been heard, even from a couple of kilometres away. Here is a video of an airship slowly crashing for comparison. The noise of the propellors can clearly be heard: The other explanation worth considering is a meteorite. These are extremely rapid in speed, but maybe the object was much higher than it appeared to be, which would make it seem to travel slower across the sky. Meteorites always burn up and can sometimes break apart as they descend. But again there are all sorts of issues with this explanation. Firstly the object looked too structured in its shape to be a meteorite, which generally appear as a burning fireball. A meteorite would not have any windows/portholes visible. It would be constantly burning from the off as opposed to suddenly bursting into flames. Even at high altitude a meteorite still crosses the sky in seconds as opposed to minutes. And possibly most important of all, meteorites have a long trail behind them. There was no trail seen behind object at any point of the sighting. Below is a montage of various pieces of footage of a meteorite which came down in Russia in 2013: As you can see, this looks significantly different to what Adrian has drawn and reported. Therefore I feel there is strong enough evidence to propose that what was seen was not a meteorite. With all these explanations adequately dismissed, I feel that there is a good chance that this was a genuine sighting of an advanced craft which got into some kind of trouble, burst into flames and then came down into the jungle, breaking apart as it did. If it was an intelligently controlled craft then this would explain how it was able to perform the right angle turn over Guardatinjajas and then manouvre between the hills to the East of the ranch before finally reaching the air strip. Adrian says that at the altitude it was at it would have certainly crashed into one of the nearby hill tops before even reaching his location unless it had been intentionally steered between them. While this was not directly witnessed, this does not mean that this did not take place. It is a shame that so many years have gone by since the incident took place. While it is conceivable that pieces of the object still exist today at the crash site, they will have long since been completely lost within the vegetation or sunken into the mud during the many wet seasons which have occurred since. Adrian could not find anything only months after it had happened, so the chances of finding anything now would be remote. UFO crash cases, especially those from trusted sources, are quite rare in the world of Ufology. We currently have no physical proof of this incident, and at present only have Adrian’s word to go on. I am hoping to speak soon with one of his step-brothers soon to get a second witness testimony. Once I do, his testimony will also be added to this report. However I fully trust that Adrian is telling the truth about what he witnessed back in 1996. He readily provided me with evidence of his position at the time, including a photograph of his ID card and the passage in the book. He was also able to give extremely specific details and answer all my questions without pause. Therefore this is a significant case, and it is great that Adrian has decided to get in touch and officially get it down on record. Perhaps one day independent witnesses from either the passenger plane or Guardatinjajas will come forward regarding this astounding incident. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 10/11/2021 In late September 2021 I was contacted by a farmer from Devon named Adrian Johns. He got in touch via the sightings report form on the BUFOG website to discuss a UFO crash incident he and five other people had witnessed back in 1996 while working on a cattle ranch in Venezuela. He also discussed a previous sighting he had experienced back in 1976. This report covers this initial sighting in depth. A link to the UFO crash incident is provided at the end of this report. Sighting Details Adrian moved out to Venezuela in September 1976 when he was 26 years old. There was a farming crash at the time and money was very tight indeed. He came across an advert from Union International asking for a position at Matapalos Ranch in Apure, Venezuela. Due to the situation he decided to apply, and ended up being given the position. The ranch was a large area of open grassland West of Achaguas village and just South of Rio Apure river. Adrian informed me that during the wet season the river would flood, providing water for the grass to grow, which the cattle would then feed off. Adrian was provided with some sleeping quarters at the main ranch centre, which consisted of a sitting room and adjoining bathroom. The centre was in a very rural location in the middle of the ranch. On Christmas Eve 1976 Adrian headed to the main ranch house for a Christmas meal. He then returned to his quarters to sleep. It was around midnight and it was very dark outside. He was standing in front of the sink in the bathroom brushing his teeth. To his right was a window which looked out over the ranch. The bathroom light was on but it had a low intensity bulb so was quite dim. Suddenly the bathroom was flooded in bright light! Adrian was immediately aware that this was something unusual, as the light could not have been coming from a ground vehicle. The location had no public roads close to it. He peered out of the window to find the source of the light. To the East he noticed a glowing orb of light which was descending and moving away from his location. Initially it was glowing a bright red, but then changed to blue, then yellow. It continued pulsing in this repeated sequence. The light was extremely bright and was lighting up the whole area outside. The object seemed to be travelling at quite a slow speed. It took about 30 seconds before it was lost from sight into the distance. By this time it was quite low down near the tree line on the horizon. Adrian wondered if it was going to hit the ground but there was no flash of light to indicate that this might have taken place, it just vanished. Adrian had not camera there with him so was unable to attempt to take a photograph or video of the object. In the morning he told other workers on the ranch about the sighting. They seemed surprised but seemed to believe him. Sighting Analysis This is an intriguing sighting especially considering the location and year that it took place. The light coming from the object was much too bright for it to have been a normal aircraft. Also it was clearly descending, and Adrian says there was no known place where aircraft could land in the direction it was seen in. It was moving too slowly to be a meteorite, these tend to cross the sky in several seconds and also have a long tail behind them. Also meteorites tend to be a singular colour rather than pulse different colours. Due to how rural the location was a lit inflatable of some kind seems very unlikely, and the sighting took place in the mid 70s, decades before Chinese lanterns, LED balloons or drones were available. Although Earth Lights do tend to appear over rural areas and near to bodies of water, this object sounds much too bright for this to have been the explanation. However this cannot be ruled out entirely, as there are cases on record of similar phenomena, such as the infamous Hessdalen Lights in central Norway. It is unknown whether the object actually reached the ground or not, as it vanished from sight while still in the air. One of the attendees of the conference, Jon Gibirdi, got in touch soon afterwards to discuss a number of experiences which had happened throughout his life. We arranged numerous video calls to go over everything in depth. This report covers these incidents, which may be directly or in-directly related to contact. Iron-Shaped UFO In May 2008 when Jon was 34 years old he had what he believed at the time to be his first sighting of a UFO (This later on turned out not to be the case as you shall see). At the time he lived in Preston on Wildman Street with his partner at the time Julie, and daughters Calista and Claudia. One evening Jon took Calista out driving along the country lanes on the outskirts of Preston. She enjoyed it so much that a few days later she asked to go for a return trip. It was a cold but clear and still evening. The light had faded in the sky and the stars were fully visible. They drove out a couple of miles to Boys Lane, which became Walker Lane. As they drove along this with open fields either side of the road, Jon became aware of a bright star-like light in the sky to the North West at an elevation of about 40 degrees. As he continued to look at it, he realised it seemed a little too bright for a star. He pulled up in a lay-by to continue looking at it. Both he and Calista got out of the car. As they watched it became even brighter, with a glowing haze around it, they soon became aware that it was slowly coming in their direction. Wondering whether it was a helicopter or plane with a light facing towards them, Jon turned the engine of the car off to listen for the sound of rotor blades or jet engines but there was silence. Nor could he see any other navigation lights on the object. They continued to watch for up to 7 minutes as the object slowly approached. Unfortunately Jon did not have a smartphone or camera on him so could not try to photograph or video it. Eventually it passed almost overhead, just off to their right. As it did the light emitting from it seemed to die right down and they could see its true shape. The base of the object was an elongated curved triangle, similar to an iron. The colour appeared to be a slightly luminescent copper, although it was possible it was metallic and reflecting lights on the ground. It appeared to be about 1000 feet up, although this was quite hard to judge. If it was at this height it would have been about 40 feet in length. It had a completely smooth surface with no lines or markings visible. It was moving at quite a slow speed, perhaps 20 mph. Jon watched in amazement for another 7 or so minutes as it continued to fly slowly on a level course to the South East. It was eventually lost from sight in the distance. He stood outside the car for several more minutes, thinking about what he had just seen. He then noticed that a helicopter was approaching from the North West. It started circling the area, and he wondered if it had been sent out to intercept the object. After a number of minutes it flew away. By this point Calista had started to get bored, so they got back in the car and continued their drive around the lanes. When they got home Jon told Julie what had happened. She believed he’d seen something but overall was quite dismissive of the sighting. He also told his work colleagues who were quite sceptical and took the mick out of him about it. A number of days after the incident, he saw an advert in the Lancashire Evening Post appealing for people who had experienced UFOs to get in touch. He decided to ring up and tell them his story. They contacted him several times to ask questions, and he got the feeling they were trying to pigeon hole him as a UFO nut. In early June they published the article, which can be read online here: https://www.sott.net/article/158483-UK-Dad-and-daughter-spot-UFO-above-Preston-Lancashire Note: The paper accidentally mentioned Claudia instead of Calista in the article, and named Jon John. They also stated the incident had happened on Boys Lane, not Walker Lane, although Jon says he probably referred to it as this when he spoke with them. This is an interesting and extensive UFO sighting. Jon watched the object for many minutes so was able to get a very good look at it. 360 radar confirms that the area does lie within an airway: It also confirms that it lies outside of controlled airspace, meaning that private untracked flights would be possible: However, the object was moving too slowly to be an aeroplane, at the speed it was going it would have dropped out of the sky. Also there were no navigation lights. As it passed overhead these would have been visible, although sometimes the military does fly aircraft dark while on training exercises. If it was a helicopter of some kind then the sound of rotor blades would no doubt have been heard. A hand-glider seems also unlikely. It was the wrong shape for this and there appeared to be nothing hanging beneath it. Could it have been an unusual inflatable of some kind drifting on an air current? It seems too large to have been a novelty balloon, and was the wrong shape for a blimp. Also it does appear to have been giving off some light, or else it would not have appeared as a glowing orb of white light when in the distance. I have dealt with other cases involving craft of this shape, and in at least one of these the base was a glowing orange colour. Could this have been a similar object? We have no way of knowing whether the helicopter which appeared was anything to do with the sighting. It was a good 7 minutes later before it arrived and it did not fly on the same path as the object as if giving chase. Perhaps it was merely coincidence it was in the area. Premonitions & The Spiral Several weeks after the sighting Jon had a strange dream. He was walking along Adelphi Street near to his home. As he walked past a pub named The Wellfield, the landlord came out and said to him “Come inside, I want to show you something.” When Jon asked him what he informed him he had seen a UFO over Preston. When Jon woke up in the morning he wondered what the strange dream could mean, and why he would dream of that particular person, who he did not know. A couple of days later in the newspaper he came across an article. It was the same individual he had seen in his dream, and to Jon’s amazement it was about some strange lights in the sky that he had recently witnessed! The chances of him dreaming about an invidual with the same appearance, same job role, at the same location and discussing the same incident seemed impossibly small. It appeared that he had somehow had a premonition about this man's sighting which had manifested in this way. Later in the same year Jon took Calista to Preston Guild Hall for a musical event. As they were going up the escalator a thought suddenly came to his mind. He thought to himself “I wonder if I’ll see David North.” He immediately wondered why he would have such a thought. David was one of his friends from primary school, but one he hadn’t seen in many years. As they reached the top of the escalator Jon could barely believe his eyes. Standing there amongst other attendees was David! He approached Jon and greeted him. Jon did not tell him about the fact he had seemingly just predicted the meeting. David mentioned he’d seen the article in the paper about his UFO sighing. Jon said that he was a bit fed up about talking about it due to the way in which many had spoken to him. However David then said something strange. He said “I believe you. We saw something together as kids didn’t we?” Jon was certain that he had not seen anything prior to the iron-shaped object so replied “I didn’t see anything with you!” But David insisted saying “We were playing hide and seek down the side of that house and we saw that metallic thing go overhead.” Instantly the memories of the incident flooded back into Jon’s mind clear as day. He saw himself as 9 or 10 years old. At the time he lived on Lulworth Road. In the memory it was a hot summer’s day with bright sunny weather. They were playing hide and seek with someone else, and he and David had decided to hide behind the tall hedgerow of a house on the corner of Kennington Road, a couple of roads away. Above them between the house and the hedge was a thin strip of blue sky. David suddenly exclaimed “What the fuck is that?” Looking up at where he was now staring, Jon saw a strange metallic object. It was a flattened silver-coloured object. But as opposed to a disc, it appeared to be a tighly curled spiral shape like a pin wheel. It was rotating continuously giving the appearance of water draining down a plug hole. The object did not look particularly large, perhaps 8 feet across. It seemed to be about 60 feet above them. Jon was not frightened of the object, he had no frame of reference to compare it to. However David then said to him “We need to get out of here.” He followed David and together they ran from behind the hedgerow out onto the pavement. This was the last thing he could remember in this vivid flashback. He was amazed at how this memory had seemingly been lost from his mind, and how it was now back in such clear detail. He immediately associated this memory loss with the object, why else would such an unusual incident have been forgotten about? In early November 2021 I spoke with David about the incident on the phone. Below is his testimonial statement about the incident. “I can remember it clear as a bell. We were about 13 or 14. Me John and our friend Paul were playing just off Kennington Road, messing around and hiding behind the hedge. I spotted this thing spinning through the sky. It was like a disc but had a repeating shape which reminded me of a flying swastika. It was dark silver coloured and was continuously rotating. It was quite high up but clear enough to see. There were no lights on it, it was so weird. As soon as we'd seen it, it just went, and carried on out of sight. It was flying on a straight course spinning through the sky. It seemed quite big. It didn’t look massive, but from how high it was it seemed about the same size as a medium sized aircraft. It was too high and too big for a remote controlled toy and occurred way before drones existed.” It is clear from David’s statement that they both saw the same object. There are minor differences such as the exact shape of the object and its apparent size, but it is common for small differences to exist in testimonies by multiple witnesses, this is nothing to be suspicious of at all. The UFO that the boys observed is truly bizarre. Due to its odd shape, it seems unlikely that it would have contained occupants. Yet the fact that it had been completely wiped from Jon’s memory certainly implies that it was something far more anomalous than a balloon, kite or radio controlled model. I have investigated a number of other cases where people have had memories of experiences completely blocked out, and in these cases the memories have later been triggered by something specific, often someone else talking about the incident. This is certainly an indicator that it may have been an advanced craft of some kind. However it also seems clear that David did not experience this loss of memory, and it does not look like any direct interaction took place. It is also interesting that the conversation regarding this incident immediately followed a potential premonition, and that the previous precognitive dream that Jon had was also related to UFOs. It is very common for contactees to report having one or more psychic ability, and one of the most commonly reported are premonitions of future events. Saved From Harm Later in 2008 Jon moved from Preston to an upstairs flat on Hampsfell Drive, Morcambe. However for a number of months after moving in he still commuted to work at Preston. One morning he had just left the house when he suddenly heard a voice say “Hey!” He looked around expecting to see someone behind him on the drive but there was nobody there. Thinking someone must be hiding from him he asked “Who is it?” The voice said to him “It’s me.” He couldn’t tell if it was coming from outside or inside of his head. It sounded raspy and reminded him of his mother, who had only recently passed away. Jon asked “Where are you?” The voice responded “I’m here, where else would I be?” Then it said “You’re going to need to see something today.” Jon was puzzled by what the voice had said, but did not ask any more questions. He just got in his car and began his normal drive to work. As he drove along he wondered if that really had been his mother talking to him. He headed along the A683 with a plan to join the M6 motorway at Junction 34. As he made his way towards the junction all of a sudden he once again heard the voice. “Keep your eyes open you need to see this thing!” Concerned by what it meant he cautiously joined the motorway. As he did so a long flatbed lorry pulled out right in front of him, narrowly missing the front of his car! He slammed the brakes on just in time. “Have you seen it?” enquired the voice. Still in shock he did not respond. This was the last he heard of it. Could this have been Jon’s deceased mother trying to protect her son from harm? If so was this yet another sign of his possible sixth sense abilities? Dopplegangers Jon says that there were a few minor incidents of a paranormal nature which occurred at his house in Preston, but there has been much stronger activity at his current flat in Morecambe. This activity has been witnessed by both him and his girlfriend Lisa. One day not long after they’d moved in Jon was in the living room when Lisa walked in from the adjoining kitchen with a concerned look on her face. She asked him “Have you just been stood in the kitchen doorway looking at me?” Jon told her he had been on the sofa the whole time. She was adamant that she had seen him standing there behind her. This was not the first time this had happened. When he used to live in Preston with Julie, she had described a similar incident. At the time Jon used to practice Taekwondo and would sometimes come home in his white suit. He was upstairs and went down to get a drink. Julie suddenly looked frightened and asked where he’d been. Jn informed her he’d been upstairs since arriving home. She told him that she had seen him walk behind her in his suit. If something like this had happened only once it would be easy to dismiss, but as it’s happened multiple times perhaps there is a paranormal explanation. Glow Stick The move to Morecambe coincided with the birth of Jon’s son Joey. One evening in mid-2010 the family had just returned from a trip to Blackpool to see the lights. They had purchased a glow stick which Joey was really drawn towards. At the time Joey used to sleep in a room adjacent to the living room. As they settled him down for bed in his cot Jon gave him the glow stick to play with. Lisa took it back off him as she was worried he would bite it. However she still wanted him to be able to see it. She got some string and tied it at both ends to the outside of the cot so that he could see it between the bars as he settled down. Then she and Jon went back into the living room. Several hours later Jon went to check on Joey. When he entered the room his blood immediately ran cold. There was a bunk bed on the far side of the room. And there, perched on the edge of the 4.5 foot high top bunk, was the glow stick! Jon could barely believe his eyes. He walked over to the cot. Joey was fast asleep. And the knots in the strings the glow stick had been inside were still intact. Even if his son had managed to somehow pull out the glow stick, it would have simply fallen to the floor. There is no way that he would have had the strength to grab it, pull it out from the knots and then throw it right across the room. This was just the beginning of what would become regular activity in the property. One day soon after that incident everyone was sitting in the living room when Joey’s baby bouncer that was strung up in the open doorway started to move by itself. Then one of his shoes rolled over of its own accord in front of them! Pop The Cork In the years that followed many more incidents took place. One evening Jon cracked open a bottle of beer which had a cork in it. He put it down and walked through from the living room to the adjoining kitchen, leaving Joey in there watching cartoons. Suddenly the cork landed on the kitchen floor behind him and rolled across it. Jon walked back into the living room and asked “Did you throw this cork?” His son just looked at him puzzled. Not fully trusting that his son had nothing to do with it, he put the cork on top of the TV, way out of reach. He then went back into the kitchen. When he returned a minute later the cork had moved from the top of the TV to the mantelpiece below it. A few nights later Jon and Lisa were relaxing on the sofa watching telly. Their pet cat was sitting down by the TV. Jon had put the incidents with the cork out of his mind, and had no idea of where it had even been put. Suddenly the cork propelled across the living room and hit the cat. Jon chucked and asked “What did you do that for? That wasn’t very nice!” Lisa denied having thrown the cork. It had seemingly come from their side of the room, but from an unknown source. Shadow Beings On a number of occasions Jon has seen shadowy figures moving around inside the flat, sometimes in the corner of his eye, sometimes more clearly. The doors of the flat have square panels of frosted glass in them. One evening while sitting in the living room Jon saw a dark shadowy figure appear walk into view behind the door. It was about 6.4 feet in height and had no distinguishable features. It merely stood there a moment behind the door then walked off to the right out of sight. In early 2020 in one of the first months of the Covid-19 lockdown Jon was sitting in bed at around 8.30am. Lisa had already got up and was working from home. Suddenly, just like what had happened before, Jon saw a shadowy figure walk past the other side of the bedroom door. Startled he jumped up out of bed shouting out “Who the heck was that?!” He got no answer. He headed into the living room and as expected found Lisa with headphones on sitting at her computer. The following morning Jon wondered if the same thing would occur. He had his smartphone ready, hoping to catch some footage of one of these entities. 8.30am came and went with no activity. By 8.45am he had lost hope of anything taking place and had put his phone down. And now of course it appeared again, almost as if it was playing with him. It walked across the far side of the door, turned back on itself, stood for a moment like it was looking in at him and then immediately faded away. The flat downstairs to Jon’s has a female police officer living in it. One day he decided to try and find out if she had been experiencing activity too. He spoke with her and asked “Have you ever seen anything odd in your flat?” She asked “What sort of things are we talking about?” Jon said “Shadows going past doors, voices, things moving…” At this the expression on her face dropped. She then told Jon that she had seen a shadow-like figure behind one of the doors off her living room (which had the same frosted glass), exactly where Jon had seen it. Sounds & Voices Quite regularly Jon and Lisa have both heard a strange rustling sound coming from the kitchen. Sometimes it can continue for a number of seconds, but as soon as Jon gets up to go and check what it is, it immediately ceases. Jon is certain that the noise is coming from inside the flat rather than echoes from outside. One night Jon went down the stairs to lock the front door. As he walked back up he suddenly heard a muffled voice ask him “Why are you running away?” He felt sure the voice had come from near to him, not from next door. A couple of nights later he switched the landing light off and the bulb blew. The glass bulb fell out of the socket, rolled along the landing and bounced down the stairs. Jon walked down in the dark to pick it up, creeping slowly so as not to tread on the glass. Suddenly he heard a loud sighing noise right in his ear. It was so close to him that for a moment all he wanted to do was run down and out of the flat. But he plucked up courage and refused to leave his own property. He locked the door and headed back upstairs to bed. Conclusion Jon has had some fascinating and varied experiences, which in most cases have been witnessed by others too. Usually I would not classify a case which does not involve direct interaction with alien beings as a contact case. However I feel that there is definitely a possibility that Jon has experienced contact but had the memories removed. The incident with the silver spiral UFO was clearly blanked from his memory until it was brought back by a conversation with his friend. And some of the other things which Jon has experienced, including his premonitions and paranormal incidents, may also be indirectly linked with contact. As the activity in his home appears to be on-going I have advised Jon to purchase some cameras to put up in the hopes of capturing some footage. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Originally forwarded by Richard Hall Last Updated: 20/10/2021 Note: For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used Introduction In April 2011 I was contacted by a man who used to live in Canada but has since moved to the UK. He got in touch with me via Richard Hall’s website. The man wishes to remain anonymous so for the purpose of this report I will name him Mark. He shared details of a fascinating UFO sighting which had happened not to him, but to a friend of his back in August 1987. However these details would cover not only the incident itself, but also the fact that his friend became ill and died a number of months later, and that it was believed that his close encounter with the UFO had been the cause of this. This report covers what Mark has shared with me about what took place. I spoke with him both via E-Mail and directly over the phone for quite a while, and I have no doubt that what he has said actually took place. Incident Details It was a clear and sunny day in August 1987. Simon (name changed for privacy reasons) and a friend were out playing golf at Lingan Golf and Country Club, on the outskirts of Sydney, Nova Scotia. Simon was 27 years old at the time. It was between 2-3pm in the afternoon. They glanced up into the sky and were amazed to see two pewter coloured saucer shaped craft heading in their direction. The craft looked identical. They had an outer rim with a raised domed centre, around which were what appeared to be portholes. They were between 40-60 feet in diameter. On the centre of the underside of each of the craft was a revolving ring of pulsing white lights. Around this ring was a second metallic ring that was also revolving. They moved in perfect unison with each other. The UFOs were at quite low altitude, flying between 60-80 feet high. The men then noticed several CF 18 jet fighters at a distance behind the UFOs. They appeared to be trailing them and attempting to intercept them. The jets were moving faster than the saucers, and slowly gaining on them. When they began to get near to them, they changed formation. The centre jet assumed a position at the front while the other two dropped back behind. Suddenly the saucers massively increased in speed and flew across the golf course towards them. They then came to a halt directly over their heads. Now that the UFOs were near to them, they could hear a low humming sound coming from them. They noticed that in the base of each craft was a revolving ring of pulsing white lights. Around this was a second metallic ring which was also revolving in a clockwise direction. It felt like the air was filled with static electricity. The saucers remained over them for a short while. As the jets seemed to be closing in on them again, both UFOs suddenly shot straight upwards, before coming to a stop then flying away to the right at an extremely fast speed. It made the jets appear like they were standing still. They left the area leaving the jets behind. Simon and his friend watched as the jets flew away into the distance. After Effects and Witness Testimony Within 6-8 months of the incident, Simon developed Leukemia. There were aspects to it which suggested it had been caused by his close encounter with the UFOs. A short while after he became ill, Simon decided to share with his friends the details of what had taken place. This seemed to have been brought on by the fact that his brother purchased a book on the subject by Timothy Good. He met up with a group of his close friends, Mark included, and then related to them the details of his experience. Mark says that while he recounted his story his hand became very animated, it was clear that he was talking about a real incident and that even so long after it he was still extremely shocked by what he had witnessed. Within six months Simon unfortunately passed away. Both he and his family believed that his illness and eventual death had been caused by his relatively close encounter with the UFOs. Incident Analysis This is an absolutely stunning case, with a daylight sighting of objects which were clearly advanced craft, military involvement, and after effects which back up the fact something took place. Mark was very adamant that it was a real incident; he says that Simon was a very fact driven man and that he would certainly not have made up such a story. The way that he spoke of the incident and his obvious feelings towards it convinced Mark that it took place, and actually changed his views on the UFO subject. The objects that Simon and his friend saw that day were almost certainly advanced craft, probably of extraterrestrial origin. They could not have been radio controlled models or inflatables due to their size and the incredible manoeuvres they were seen to perform. The fact that the military jets were attempting to intercept the objects also means they were very unlikely to have been experimental secret military craft. It is clear from what Simon revealed that they were attempting to catch up with the UFOs to either observe them or perhaps even attempt to shoot them down. Mark is an aviation expert, and says that the jets must have come from Bagotville Airport, a good 17 hours drive from Sydney. This was the only known base which would have had CF 18 jets that far East. It is probable that they picked up the craft on radar and sent up jets to intercept them. Many of the aspects of this encounter fit in with other UFO sightings I have read about or personally investigated. The ability of the objects to hover completely still or suddenly move at massive speed. The low humming sound coming from them. The ring of revolving lights in the base. The feeling of static electricity in the air. All of these have been talked of before in other close encounter experiences. It is my belief that the electrical feeling was due to the gravitational fields the UFOs were projecting around them, which allows them to perform the manoeuvres they were seen to perform. This has been noted numerous times before, including during the famous Rendlesham Forest incident when Jim Penniston and John Burroughs approached the triangular craft in the woods. It is very unfortunate that Simon developed Leukemia and died from this illness. It would have been incredible to hear the story of what happened from him directly. Could this illness have developed as a result of his close encounter with the craft? Leukemia is a type of cancer which affects blood cells and bone marrow. Past radiation exposure is one risk factor for most kinds of Leukemia (although there are other causes). It was at least half a year after the encounter that this illness began, but that does not mean it was unrelated, its early stages may not have been noticeable. I have heard of individuals becoming sick after having close encounters with these craft, this is far from a unique case regarding the after effects. People have reported radiation burns, nausea and strong headaches, and I see no reason why the illness and death of Simon could not have been caused by his experience. It is something that his family certainly believe to this day. That said it is not the only cause of Leukemia, smoking can also be a cause, and Simon was a smoker. Mark does not know what happened to Simon’s friend who also witnessed the craft, although he does not believe that he too died. While still alive Simon kept in touch with him even after he moved away from the area. Mark says he will attempt to find out his contact details so I can speak with him. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 14/10/2021 Elaine got in touch with me in late September 2021 to discuss a sighting she had recently had while on holiday in Corfu. When we discussed this incident she also mentioned she had also had a previous sighting back in 2018 at her home town St Austell, Cornwall, during which she had managed to photograph the object in question. This report covers this experience in depth and includes analysis of the photographs. Sighting Details Elaine is a nurse and wakes up early most days for early morning shifts. On the morning of 12th November 2018 she was walking to her car which was parked on Chough Crescent. It was just before 7am and a pleasant still morning with only light cloud. Due to the time of morning there was nobody else around. As she walked along Mitchell Road, she looked up into the sky to the South East saw what appeared to be an highly reflective object, which was reflecting the early morning sunlight. She grabbed her smartphone and took a photograph of it, before continuing to walk along the road, keeping her eye on it as she did. The object seemed to be slowly moving to the East. She turned the corner into Chough Crescent, walked a short distance along it and crossed the road to the lay-by where her car was parked. Here she took a second photograph of the object. She continued to watch it for a short moment but then had to get into her car and head off to work. Photographic Analysis Below is the first photograph Elaine took at 6.54am, with the object ringed: Zoomed view of the object: Zoomed view with edge find: I managed to locate the position the photograph was taken at using Google street view: Using the positioning of the house roofs it possible to confirm that Elaine was looking slightly Eastward of South East when she took the photograph: A minute later Elaine had walked around the corner onto Chough Crescent and arrived at the lay-by. Here is the second photograph that she took: Again using Google Street View I was able to confirm the rough position she was at and direction she was facing: It can be seen from the clouds in both photographs that the object is in the same area of sky. The clouds have moved a bit, but this could be because of natural drift in the time between the photos, in addition to the different positions she was at. Although the object appeared to be silver colured and highly reflective to the witness, on the two photographs it appears to be a bright point of white light. In checking the online planetarium on the In The Sky website it is possible to see the positioning of the stars and planets at the precise location and time when the photographs were taken. As you can see from the below, Venus was in the same direction as the photographs were taken, slightly East of South East, and it’s elevation also seems to correspond with the object: This was further confirmed using the Stellarium mobile phone app: Venus is the brightest planet in the sky, and is often still visible in early morning hours, after most of the other stars have vanished. I feel it is extremely likely that the two photographs Elaine has taken are of Venus. Elaine says that the object appeared to be moving, however this movement may have been an illusion due to the fact that she was walking along as she looked at it. She only stopped briefly to take the photographs, and perhaps did not realise that it was in fact stationary. It seems far too coincidental that the point of light is at the same position in the sky as Venus was at that particular time. I am quite convinced that this explanation adequately explains the sighting and photographs taken. When I spoke with the witness she agreed with this explanation. As mentioned at the start of the report, Elaine has had another interesting sighting of a red orb of light while on holiday in Corfu in September 2021. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 14/10/2021 On 22nd September 2021 I was contacted via Facebook in response to a case report of a red sphere that was seen over Birmingham. I was informed by the lady, Elaine, that she had witnessed something similar the previous evening from their hotel in Corfu. Several days later when she arrived home we went over the incident in more depth. Sighting Details On 21st September 2021 Elaine and her partner were on holiday in Corfu and staying on the North coast at Mareblue Beach Resort. It was around 9pm and they were sitting by the poolside facing towards the East. There were not many other people around as the hotel was less busy than it would normally be due to Covid-19. It was a very warm and beautiful evening. Elaine was looking at the moon to the East visible in the sky beyond a hill to the East of the resort. Near to the moon was a bright star. Alongside this Elaine noticed a red orb of light at an elevation of about 50 degrees. She pointed it out to her husband exclaiming “Oh look at that!” Her husband Darren responded saying “It’s a plane.” However aircraft tend to also have other navigation lights or strobes. This was just a ball of bright red light which was completely stationary in the sky. The couple stared at it for 3-4 minutes. Suddenly the light briefly vanished then re-appeared. At this Darren exclaimed “Yeah that is a bit odd I guess.” Elaine had previously looked into the UFO subject and had heard that it’s sometimes possible to telepathically communicate with them. She told Darren what she was going to do and then tried asking in her mind “Can you do that again?” A moment later the red orb once again vanished and re-appeared, seemingly in response to her request! After this it remained stationary for about 40 seconds. All of a sudden it moved to the right in a Southerly direction a short way for several seconds before halting again. The movement was smooth and precise. It then pulsed a little brighter than it had been. Then without warning it descended rapidly straight downwards and was lost from sight behind the hillside. The couple were amazed at what they’d just witnessed! Elaine kicked herself for not having tried to record it on her mobile phone. She said that Darren didn’t have his on him as it was a work mobile so was switched off, but she had hers. However she was so transfixed by the orb that she didn’t think to start recording it. The object must have been out over the sea at least 1.5 km from their location as it dropped down behind the hillside, which was 1 km to their East. It is unknown if it went right down to the water or not. Sighting Analysis This is an interesting sighting of a glowing or lit object which certainly appeared to be under control. It could not have been an aeroplane as it hovered motionless for a number of minutes. A distant helicopter also seems extremely unlikely because of the fact no other lights were visible, and how rapidly the object descended at the end of the sighting. A drifting Chinese lantern or lit inflatable again seems very unlikely. Chinese lanterns are very hard to purchase these days due to the fire risk. LED balloons are available but the light was clearly out over open ocean, not really the sort of location someone would launch such an object. Also it was quite distant so would have to have been quite bright and potentially sizeable. The movement patterns the object was performing seemed too direct and controlled to be a drifting inflatable, with periods of motionless hovering and then sudden shifting manoeuvres. Again these movements point away from the object being some kind of natural Earth light or ball lightning. This also tends to be white or blue-white in colour, quite small and only occurs in stormy weather conditions. It was a clear and very pleasant evening. A mundane explanation which could potentially explain the sighting would be that of a drone being flown on the far side of the hillside. Perhaps someone was flying a quad drone at the edge of the water with a red light on it (or multiple red lights which had merged into one due to the distance). This would be able to hover still in the sky, suddenly move in a direction and descend rapidly as was witnessed. Perhaps a couple of times the individual flying the drone decided to remotely switch off the lights on it. Or maybe it rotated in a certain direction where the lights were temporarily blocked. If it was not a drone, then there is the possibility it was an advanced craft of some kind, but this explanation cannot be fully ruled out. It’s unlikely we will ever get to confirm this one way or the other, so for now the sighting remains unexplained. Elaine has had a previous sighting of a glowing object which she photographed, although I feel certain that in this instance it has a mundane explanation. Click here to go to the report.
