Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 01/05/2018 Last Updated: 15/10/2025   In April 2018 I was contacted by a lady named Catherine who wanted to share with me a number of experiences she had had throughout her life since childhood. Some of these experiences are very likely to be contact related. They have been mentioned in this report in age order.   The Cuckoo   In the mid-90s when Catherine was between 4-5 years old she lived with her parents Mark and Emily in a house on Arlington Road in St Annes, Bristol. Every so often she would hear strange unexplained sounds. It would sound like a mixture of a whispering voice and a humming noise. The noise would continue for a couple of minutes, then cease before returning after a short while. She would always become anxious when she started to hear the noises, because they would always precede other experiences that would kick off in her room after she had gone to bed.   Aerial map of Arlington Road  She would sometimes lie awake in bed on purpose to prevent what would take place. But in the end she would start to drop off. And in that semi-awake state she would then hear the sound of an ice cream van outside the house playing Popeye the Sailor Man. She would close her eyes for a short while. When she re-opened her eyes she would see a cuckoo in the room. Usually it would be sitting at the base of the bed. Very occasionally it would swoop around the room in loops above her.   Example photograph of a cuckoo  Whenever Catherine saw the bird she would also feel another presence in the room standing alongside the bed. She felt like she had to keep staring at the bird to remain safe and prevent seeing whatever was standing there. However on occasion she would see a dark grey coloured figure standing there out of her peripheral vision. It was about 6 feet tall, slender in build with long thin arms and legs. Its fingers were long and pointy. Catherine never turned to look at it properly or see what its face looked like. Because of the long pointy fingers Catherine referred to these beings that would accompany the cuckoo as “the spikey people”.   To her knowledge Catherine never tried communicating with the cuckoo. She would just recall staring at it a while before dropping off to sleep. Whenever it appeared she would be extremely frightened of the other figure in the room. She would not dare move, put on the light or call out for her parents. She does recall telling them about it on a number of occasions. They just put it down to her imagination and did not seem particularly concerned.   The last time she saw the cuckoo was about a week before she moved house. It was acting extremely agitated and flapping around the room like it was panicking and trying to get out. Due to the behaviour of the bird, Catherine somehow knew that she was not going to see it again.   If this experience had just happened once you could easily dismiss it as an unusual dream. However this happened regularly for a number of years until Catherine changed address. There are many aspects of these experiences that fit in with them potentially being visitations.   The figure that Catherine would see alongside the bed could well have been a Grey that was there for her (Something which would be confirmed later on in her life as you will see). ETs often use screen memories to mask what is actually taking place, and can appear in a variety of forms including animals. This is more common for contact experiences that take place during childhood. Both the cuckoo and the sound of the ice cream van outside could have been part of this repeated screen memory. It was obviously not an actual ice cream van outside as these incidents took place very late evening after Catherine had gone to bed.   While visual and audial hallucinations can be side effects of sleep paralysis, and shadowy figures can sometimes be seen, Catherine does not believe that she was paralysed when her experiences took place. Therefore sleep paralysis can be dismissed as the cause of the incidents.   It is also very interesting that these experiences were preceded earlier in the day time by the strange whispering noises which Catherine heard. The fact that the two experiences were linked suggests a more unusual explanation for the noises than just a repeated medical condition. Could it have been some kind of communication from the ETs or her brain picking up on the fact that a contact experience was imminent?   Father’s UFO Sighting   Another incident took place in 1994. Catherine was only 4 years old at the time but distinctly remembers her father telling her mother that he had seen a UFO from the sky light in the bathroom.   Soon after this discussion she recalls overhearing another chat where Mark confirmed that someone else from his work place had also seen the UFO and it had been in the newspaper.   Recently Catherine asked Mark if he could remember the incident. He said that he could. She did not press him for further details because he is quite sceptical and does not really like discussing things he cannot rationally explain.   Yellow Orbs   Another UFO sighting occurred in 1996 or 1997, and this time Catherine was one of the witnesses! It was fireworks night and she and her parents had gone round to their neighbours back garden for a display. There were about five adults present and three other children.   Everyone was out in the back garden preparing to launch the fireworks. It was a really clear and still night and the stars were visible in the sky. Suddenly one of the adults exclaimed “What’s that?” Everyone looked up and saw what appeared to be two yellow orbs of light at different points in the sky. The objects had a warm yellow glow and were not flickering in brightness. They appeared to be completely silent. They were moving slowly towards one another, one seemingly slowly descending while the other slowly ascended. Catherine wondered what was going to happen when they finally met. It took about five minutes for the two lights to reach one another as they were moving at quite a slow speed. By this time most of the others had lost interest. Catherine got everyone’s attention pointing out the fact that they were about to meet. When the lights finally touched they both immediately vanished!   There are some aspects of this sighting which could suggest the objects were Chinese lanterns. These do appear as glowing orbs of light which drift slowly across the sky, usually on a straight course, and can appear to suddenly vanish as they eventually go out. And of course it should be noted that it was bonfire night, a popular night for launching lanterns.   If they were lanterns they could have been caught on two different slow moving air currents which meant they moved slowly towards one another.  And they may have both gone out when they collided with one another. However lanterns tend to be more of an amber orange colour and can usually be seen to flicker in brightness rather than remain constantly bright, so not all aspects point towards this as the explanation.   Grey Visitation   When she was 19 years old Catherine moved into a house in Wrexham, Wales with her friend Anna. On a day not long after she moved in she once again heard the whispering humming sound that she had heard many times before through her life. She did not think anything of it.   That night she went to bed about 1am. During the night she had a strange dream. She found herself standing outside of her bedroom on the landing. Despite the fact that she was in her own house, for some reason she felt like it was situated in Flint, where she had lived previously. She turned round and saw a number of beings standing further along the landing. It immediately became apparent that these were “the spikey people”  from her childhood. However this time she could at last see their faces. They had over-sized light bulb shaped heads with angular pointed chins. Their eyes were large, black and rounded almond-shaped eyes. Their noses were unpronounced, and they had small slits for mouths. They were unclothed and had smooth dark grey coloured skin.   By this point of her life Catherine had an interest in the paranormal and was aware that these beings had been reported by people before, but did not know that they are referred to as Greys. The beings suddenly began walking fast towards her. Catherine ran into her bedroom and slammed the door behind her. She then leant her arm up against the door to prevent them from entering the room.   The Greys were not forcefully trying to open the door but did continue to push against it. In the end Catherine resigned to keeping them out any longer and she lowered her arm. The beings entered the room and stood around her calmly. Two of them put their hands on her shoulders while the other two stood behind her. They then walked out of the bedroom with her. This was where the dream ended.   Catherine woke up to find herself back in her bed. It was early morning time. She immediately remembered what had happened. She was quite disturbed as it had felt far more real than a dream usually would. She thought back to her experiences as a child and felt that this was in some way connected. She did not tell her housemate about what happened as she thought she would not take her seriously.   This certainly sounds like a visitation experience, and could well have preceded an abduction which was wiped from her memory. It certainly appears that the beings were planning to take her somewhere else. The fact that their bodies looked the same as the being she had seen during her childhood when the cuckoo appeared in her room means that those experiences were also very likely linked with contact.   Premonitions   While Catherine does not pretend to be able to accurately predict events before they happen, she did inform me that there have been a number of occasions where she has seemingly been able to predict things. Sometimes she knows when the phone is about to ring and who will be on the other end when she picks it up. Or she will be singing a song and then put the radio on and it’s playing. She says that this happens more frequently than could be put down to random chance.   Catherine is also apparently able to predict when light bulbs are going to go in her house. On numerous occasions she has thought that one of the lights in the living room or bedroom is going to blow and then within a few minutes of this thought it will.   While these mild premonitions are difficult to prove they are still worth noting, as contactees regularly report possessing psychic abilities.   Paranormal Activity   Catherine has informed me both of the houses she has lived in at Wrexham have apparently been haunted.   At the first house, where she had the Grey visitation experience, lights would go on and off by themselves. She and her housemate would sometimes hear the bathroom cord light being pulled and when they checked the light would be switched on. On other occasions they would hear doors closing or opening by themselves.   At the second house the living room and front door have textured glass in them. She would frequently see the shadow of a figure walking past the front door. There were also times where she saw a face peering in through the door, but when she checked there would be no-one there. On one occasion she was out in the back garden and looked back towards the house. She saw what appeared to be a dark figure standing in the kitchen looking out at her through the window. At another time she caught a glimpse of a figure standing over her baby daughter’s Moses Basket out of the corner of her eye.   These were not the only apparitions Catherine has seen. She has also had some ghostly experiences at the old people’s home where she works. One evening she saw what she believed was one of the residents up out of bed and walking along the corridor. As she walked after the person to bring them back, they vanished around a corner. When Catherine reached the corner and walked round it she found there was no-one there. Another day she was moving things around in one of the rooms when the doors slammed shut behind her so forcefully that they knocked her over. There was no known draft at the home which could have been responsible.   It is very common for experiencers to report paranormal activity in their proximity and I wonder if some of these experiences have been down to the fact that Catherine has experienced contact and it has altered her perception in some way.   Further Contact?   While Catherine cannot consciously recall meeting with Greys again after this point, there was a morning in 2014 or 2015 when her partner asked her “Who are the spikey people?” Shocked by his question she responded “What? How do you know about the spikey people?”  He then went on to say that in her sleep she had been shouting “The spikey people are coming back!”   So many years had gone on since her last experience that she had put it out of her mind. But hearing this got her thinking again about what had happened to her. This led on to her looking into the contact subject, and wondering whether she was a contactee.   Conclusions   As you can see, Catherine appears to have had a number of visitation experiences involving Greys, whom as a child she nicknamed “the spikey people”. Some of her other experiences may also be indirectly related to contact. While there is no definite sign that she has had contact in recent years, the fact that she shouted out that they were coming back could suggest other experiences she is not aware of at present.   Catherine is planning to be regressed in the coming months. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Year: 2015 Last Updated: 26/06/2025   Introduction   Lloyd Canning is an artist who regularly paints stunning pictures of UFO/UAPs, beings, space, multiple dimensions and other metaphysical concepts. He has attended numerous BUFOG meetings and regularly displays his artwork at conferences.   An example of one of Lloyd Canning's paintings  Lloyd does not believe that he has experienced contact directly, he feels that he draws these things because of his deep interest in the phenomenon. He has had numerous dreams where he has gone inside his paintings and they have “come to life” but believes these to be nothing more than dreams. While he has not experienced contact, he has had several UFO/UAP sightings over the years.   November/December 2004 - Silver Oval   In late 2004 Lloyd purchased a new van from a dealer in Reddich. On an evening in November or December he went to pick it up. His friend gave him a lift to the dealership in his car. It was about 6pm and they were on their return journey to Evesham. Due to the time of year the sun was setting, but there was still some light in the sky.   They were driving South West along the A46 somewhere between Salford Priors and Harvington, with Lloyd in his new van, and his friend following along behind in his car. It was very quiet and other than them there were no other drivers on the road nearby.   Aerial map showing the stretch of the A46 along which the incident took place  All of a sudden ahead and off to his right Lloyd realised there was a large object in air approaching the road. He was astounded to see a silver coloured oval/egg shaped object. It was huge, larger than a jumbo jet (250 feet), and appeared to be at very low altitude, no higher than 50 feet up.   He watched as the object flew directly towards him! It had a rounded front, no wings and had a curved reflective surface. It was moving fast and only took several seconds to reach him and pass over the roof of the van. He compared this to “like passing under a bridge”.   Photograph of the A46  As it passed over he tried to scream but no noise came out. He happened to have the windows down and the stereo off at the time, and it was clear that there was no sound coming from this huge object.   After it had been lost from sight he wished he had pulled over to have a look for it heading away into the distance, but was in a state of shock so continued to drive. He did not stop the van to discuss the sighting with his friend, and before the journey was complete his friend left him to travel back to his own house.   Lloyd does not really know why he did not speak with his friend about what had happened at the time. But in early 2015 he finally spoke with him about the incident and asked him whether he saw anything from his car. His friend recalled seeing a small spherical object. Lloyd was deeply confused by this, as it was completely different to what he remembers seeing. However there were many other people present at the time so he did not stress the matter. He feels that his friend was trying to dismiss the sighting.   If we assume that Lloyd’s recollection of events is accurate, and that his friend was downplaying the appearance of the object, then what could it have been? It was clearly not a normal aircraft. It was the wrong shape and flying much too low. Aeroplanes only drop down to this altitude when they are about to land or just taking off. There are no airfields in the vicinity, so it could not have been this, and at that height it would have been clear that it was an aeroplane. Also the noise of the engines would have been audible as it passed overhead.   The object was moving much too quickly to be a silver coloured hot air balloon or other inflatable, so I feel this explanation can also be put out of the question. Besides these there is not really anything else mundane which would fit the description. Therefore it is certainly possible this was a genuine sighting of an advanced craft.   November 2008 – Glowing Red Oval   One pleasant and still evening in November 2008 Lloyd drove to Morrisons in Evesham to use the ATM. After using the ATM he left the supermarket car park in his car and turned right onto The Link. This leads up to a roundabout with some orange street lights on. Due to the time of year the sun had already set and these lights were on.   Photograph of Morrisons showing the ATMs  Aerial map of The Link indicating the route from Morrisons to the roundabout  In the distance over the buildings he saw a red glowing object in the sky. It was travelling on an Eastward course so moving from his left to right. The object was shaped like a lemon and pulsing with cherry red light. The pulsing coming from it was regular. It did not look like it was rotating.   Photograph of the roundabout in the direction Lloyd’s car was facing  The UFO appeared to be several thousand feet up and far away in the sky, meaning that it would have been quite large in size. On the far side of the island is Jewson Builders Merchants. Lloyd decided to pull up the car there and get out to have a better look at the object.   Photograph of Jewson Builders Merchants  He watched it for about 8-10 seconds as it crossed the sky on a straight course. There was a couple talking nearby but they did not appear to have spotted it. Lloyd did not call over to alert them to its presence.   As the object began to move away from the area he decided to get back in the car and start driving after it to continue to watch it. He began by travelling North East along the A46. However the object appeared to have changed course and was now heading South East. Lloyd started driving along other roads after it, travelling between 60-80 mph. He drove all the way to Wickham Road in Studley, Reddich before losing sight of the object. It was clearly moving faster than him and was impossible to catch up.   Aerial map indicating Evesham (A) and Twyford (B)  The object was the wrong colour for a sky lantern. Lloyd says he has seen these before and this was different, it was bright red rather than amber orange. It could not have been a red coloured LED balloon because it was moving much too fast for this. It was a still evening, but even if it had been windy Lloyd would have been able to catch up with the object if it was drifting on an air current.   It seems unlikely that it was a distant aircraft. Although planes have red navigation lights, they also have white and green lights, which would also have been visible. Lloyd had plenty of time to observe the object, the white strobe light would have been more obvious than the red light. The sighting took place several years before drones became commercially available, and the distance the object clearly travelled puts this out of the question.   December 2008 – Orange Orbs   In mid-December 2008 Lloyd’s daughter was born prematurely at a hospital in Gloucester. Because of this Lloyd, his wife and son would regularly travel to and from Gloucester in the car. One night they were on their way back to Evesham. It was an overcast and rainy at the time.   Aerial map showing Evesham (A) and Gloucester (B) They were driving North East East along the A40 heading towards the M5 motorway which would take them back North. Suddenly his wife exclaimed “Look, it’s a ball of fire!” Looking off to the left ahead of him, at the 10 o’clock position, Lloyd saw what his wife was looking at. He saw an orange orb of glowing light travelling on a straight course. It appeared to be about 1000 feet up. It was travelling towards them. After a number of seconds it passed overhead and was lost from sight.   Lloyd pulled the car up at a layby and got out to continue observing the object. His wife and son remained in the car. The orb continued to move away from their location, but in the distance came to a halt over the road. Aerial map of the A40 layby where Lloyd stopped the car As he watched the initial orb was joined by two others which came in from opposing angles and formed an upside down triangle formation. These two new orbs also then halted. Suddenly the initial orb appeared to duplicate and split into three separate orbs!   Photograph looking back along the A40 from near the layby It was raining quite heavily and because of the rain running down the windows his wife and son could not see out very well. It was a little dangerous as the road was slippery and there were other vehicles passing. A couple of minutes after stopping his wife called out saying “Come on, let’s go!”   Lloyd decided to get back into the car, with the orbs still visible in the sky. They continued on their journey home. He does not know how long they remained in the area for. He does not believe the orbs were sky lanterns because of the structured triangular formations they formed, and the fact that the initial orb had split into three. However I am not so sure. It is possible that the initial orb was actually three clumped together, which then separated. And the even triangular formations seen could easily have been coincidental rather than deliberate.   Conclusions   Lloyd has had several varied sightings. I feel that the orange orbs seen over the A40 were likely to be sky lanterns, which were very popular back in 2008 and readily available. However the other two sightings are harder to explain and have some interesting aspects to them, especially the large silver coloured object which he saw in 2004.   I would like to thank Lloyd for going over these sightings with me and getting them down on record. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Year: 2017 Last Updated: 10/10/2025   The Sphere   The first unusual incident Simon can recall happening took place in 1994 when he was 8 years old. At the time he lived in a council house in Stretford, Manchester with his mum and sister. His bedroom was positioned at the back of the house, and his window overlooked a railway track. He often enjoyed sitting on the bedside table and staring out of the window at the surroundings.   One night he was having trouble sleeping and was awake with his TV on. It was about 5 am in the morning and still quite dark outside. He decided to look out of the window, which was open at the time. When he did he noticed something unusual. He saw what appeared to be a white coloured sphere. It was hovering close to the houses on the far side of the railway track, about 100 metres away. It was quite small, only a few feet across.   The sphere was moving along the row of houses and shining a beam of white light into the windows, as if it was looking for something. It was systematically hovering then stopping, and going from left to right along the houses. Simon was confused as to what the object could be. As it was travelling from one house to the next it suddenly appeared to have noticed the fact he was staring at it. It immediately turned and rushed towards the window extremely fast!   The sphere looking into house windows It stopped only 30 cm away from the window. Simon was horrified to see that the front of the sphere was flat-faced, and on it appeared to be a screen showing rows of human faces, all of which were screaming silently at him.   Witness drawing of the screen of faces on the sphere Simon reeled back away from the window and turned to run out of the bedroom. As he did he blacked out.   The next thing he became aware of he found himself waking up face-down on the floor of the room. The sun had now come up outside and the sphere was nowhere to be seen. Once he had got dressed he went downstairs and told his mother, but she brushed it off and Simon never spoke of it again.   Simon assumes the object that he witnessed was a drone of some kind, however there are many oddities around this sighting. The object had no visible means of propulsion, no rotor blades. And if it was military why would it have had a screen showing screaming faces on it? Also for what reason would the military have been shining a light into civilians windows early in the morning?   He does not believe the incident was merely a nightmare, he recalls being awake at the time and out of bed. If we assume it did take place, there is the possibility that this was an extra-terrestrial device. The faces on the screen appeared human, however this could have been a screen memory masking what was really observed.   Military Helicopter   One summer’s day between 1996-1998 Simon was playing a game of “curby” with a football – bouncing it off the curb and catching it again. He was on a clearing of land alongside his house where other houses used to stand.   He began to hear the sound of loud rotor blades. Looking to the East he saw a large green coloured military helicopter approaching his location. It initially flew over the roof of his house, about 50 metres up. It then turned and faced towards him. The windows were dark and he could not see the pilot, although he did wave at it.   It then turned round and flew away. His best friend from next door, Daniel, and Daniel’s sister also saw it, but only Simon questioned why it was there on that day. Even though it is unusual for a military helicopter to hover at low altitude over an urbanised area, it is possible that the helicopter was on an exercise or perhaps even on its way to an airshow (although if so why did it stop and hover close to Simon?)   Fallen Table   A few years after the sphere incident (roughly 1997), Simon was fast asleep in bed. Again the bedroom window was open. The table alongside his bed was very sturdy. Suddenly a loud thud awoke him in the dark. Looking around he found that the bedside table was knocked over on its side. He was quite sure he had not knocked it over himself, and it was far too heavy to have been blown over by a gust of wind coming through the open window.   Simon was quite frightened by what had happened, and felt that something had come into his room and knocked over the table. He panicked and ran out of the room. He slept alongside his mother until morning.   Psychic Abilities   Simon stated that since childhood there have been numerous incidents where he has known certain things are going to happen in advance.   He says that during his childhood years he was very sensitive to weather patterns, and knew when it was going to be sunny or when it was going to snow. He also mentioned that there were numerous occasions where he knew someone was going to say something specific to him before they did, although he provided no direct examples.   It is common for experiencers of contact to report having one or more psychic abilities. The connection between this and contact is well documented, although the precise reasons for this are still theorised over.   Face In The Wall   Nothing else took place until Simon’s early 20s. He was taking a media technology course at Cambridge University, and lived in a share house with one other student. One weekend he was in his room and lying on his bed watching TV. It was about 2pm in the afternoon. It was summertime and a pleasant day outside, and the curtains were open letting light into the room.   Opposite the bed was a wall with no pictures hanging on it. As he glanced over at it, without warning what appeared to be a humanoid face pushed forward out from it. The face was black and semi-transparent like it was made out of shadow. It was about the size of a human face. It’s features were quite clearly defined, with slits for eyes and a mouth.   Witness drawing of the face in the wall Simon was frozen in astonishment at what he was looking at. He started at the face for what seemed to be around 5 minutes. To his knowledge there was no communication, and the face did not move at all. Eventually it seemed to sink back into the wall and was gone.   He continued to stare at the wall. At that moment his housemate entered. Simon said “Mate look at the wall.”  His friend looked and said “What about it?”  Simon did not know what to say. He was confused as to what had just taken place. He decided to keep what he had just seen to himself.   Many experiencers report seeing dark shadow-like forms, commonly referred to as “shadow beings”. Could this have been one of these entities? If so for what purpose did it appear? Alternatively this could have been a visitation, with a screen memory potentially masking the actual appearance of the being. There are lots of cases on record where beings have emerged from solid walls, either surrounded in light or sometimes through a visible portal.   Voyage Into Space   While still at Cambridge, a couple of events occurred in close proximity to one another. The first of these occurred on a Friday night. Simon was asleep but what took place seemed far more vivid than a dream.   He found himself in darkness floating in a seated position. All around him was an oval-shaped pod of some kind which was transparent like glass. The temperature of it was slightly cool. He was wearing the boxer shorts he had gone to bed in, and was in a seated position. He felt drowsy, in a state of semi-alertness, but also realised that he felt weightless.   Witness drawing of looking down at his knees and feet He looked upward trying to establish where he was, and as he did he was astounded to see the sun. It was now that he realised that the pod was in space and appeared to be positioned close to the sun, which was absolutely huge in scale. Despite its proximity, there was no noticeable heat from it entering the pod.   Simon then looked to his right and noticed out of the corner of his eye two grey-coloured figures seated behind him. They were slender with long thin arms and legs, and did not appear to be wearing clothing. They seemed to be a little shorter than himself, possibly about 5 feet in height. At this moment they realised that he was looking at them. The being on the right reached out and put its hand on his shoulder. Its fingers were skinny and long.   Witness drawing of the being touching him on the shoulder  At this moment he blacked out and he recalled nothing further about being inside the pod. When he came round he found himself back in his bed. However he was lying sideways in an odd position, almost as if he had been placed there. Simon informs me that he usually sleeps on his back so this seemed un-natural.   He recalled what he had seen, and was disturbed by how real it had all felt. He remembered how incredibly vast the vision of the sun had been. It filled him with a sense of awe. Describing the vividness of this experience to me Simon said “I felt the weightlessness, I felt the temperature in the pod, everything. I've got a crimp in my neck, and I felt that when I turned.”   Man In Black   A couple of evenings after the pod experience, Simon went out running around the outskirts of Cambridge. He was on his way back home looking down at the pavement because staring into the distance puts him off running. He was listening to music through headphones.   As he was about to cross a particular street he got a sudden feeling of absolute terror. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He looked up at what was ahead and saw a man walking straight towards him. The man looked completely out of place. He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall, and was wearing a long black coat over a black coloured suit, with a square top hat and smart black shoes and gloves. He also had sunglasses on, even though it was after dark.   He looked elderly but strong. He was staring at him with an unusual toothy grin on his face which was lit up by passing car headlights, and was also wringing his hands together.   Witness drawing of the Man In Black Simon immediately felt that his sudden feeling of terror was directly linked with this man. As he ran past the man, he suddenly lurched towards him, as if trying to make him jump. In response to this Simon raised his fists into a defensive stance but continued running.   A few seconds after passing the man he got the courage to turn round and look. When he did he found that the man had completely vanished! There was nowhere for him to have hidden behind in such a short space of time. Simon immediately realised that he could not have been human.   There are numerous possibilities for who the man was. He had an appearance somewhat similar to reported cases of “Men In Black”, wearing the dark coloured suit and shades. But if he was a human agent he would not have vanished in the way he did. Could he have been a ghostly apparition? Simon has experienced paranormal activity on other occasions so this cannot be ruled out. However, if he was an apparition it was clear that possessed a level of awareness as he reacted to Simon’s proximity.   Another possibility is that this was an ET masking its appearance using a screen memory, and Simon only perceived it as a man in a dark suit. Although quite rare, I have investigated other cases where this has seemingly occurred.   Simon stated that he saw a similar case on a documentary, where a woman in New York met a Man In Black in broad daylight, and just like him felt a deep sense of terror.   Precognitive Visions   Simon used to work at the shopping mall known as the Trafford Centre in Manchester.   Photograph of the Trafford Centre One morning he was on the bus to work when a vision suddenly came to his mind. In it he saw himself standing face-to-face with an Asian man. He interpreted the vision as a fight with this unknown man which was going to happen at some point.   When he arrived at the centre, his boss introduced him to a new worker named Raj. Simon immediately recognised him as the man he had seen in his vision. He and Raj started working together on the shop floor.   Soon afterwards Simon and the other workers needed to go and check the phones. He heard Raj say something behind him. He turned around and realised he was standing directly in front of him, exactly how he recollected. Raj then asked him what he was having for lunch. As it turned out the vision was a friendlier incident than Simon had initially interpreted it to be.   Simon mentioned that he has had other precognitive visions ever since, roughly once a year. They tend to physically take place within hours, or occasionally the following day.   Conclusions   Simon has had some varied and interesting experiences, some of which appear clearly linked with contact, although many have more of a paranormal nature about them. The abduction aboard the clear-walled spherical craft is particularly intriguing. I have investigated numerous similar cases before, regarding the appearance of the craft, presence of beings aboard it and even the fact that it went up into space.   Oddly it is also quite reminiscent of an extremely vivid dream that I once had, in which I stepped into a beam of light, shot upwards through the sky and ended up floating inside a clear “bubble”. It should be noted that I believe this was only a dream, I do not feel I have experienced contact directly.   It is common for contactees to experience paranormal activity and possess psychic abilities, so it does not surprise me at all that Simon has mentioned both of these. When she first joined us she informed me of a puzzling missing time incident she had experienced while living in New Zealand. I got in touch via phone soon afterwards to go over this in depth as well as a number of other events that have taken place. Childhood Paranormal Experiences When she was growing up Sam lived in Friskney, Skegness with her parents. She recalls a couple of incidents which could be put down to poltergeist activity. One day she was in the kitchen with her mum and dad. There was a cardboard box leaning against one of the walls. All of a sudden it fell over of its own accord, hovered for a moment above the floor, then returned to its original position. Everyone present witnessed this event. A few weeks later Sam was elsewhere in the house when some extension cords started leaping up and down by themselves. For some reason she was not frightened and merely thought to herself “Oh no, not again!” One night when she was 11 years old Sam recalls waking up in bed to find she could not move. She could feel the shape of someone lying down in bed alongside her but could not see anything. She then heard whatever it was say “Sshhh” in her ear. She does not recall what happened next so must have dropped back off to sleep. On numerous occasions when she was 13 years old and at secondary school she would sit up in the middle of the night and hold a conversation with someone or something in the corner of her room. She only found out this was happening from her friend Sharon who would occasionally stop overnight. While these incidents could easily be put down to sleep paralysis and recurring dreams rather than anything more unusual they are still worth mentioning. Ouija Boards When she was in her 4th year at secondary school Sam and her friends began to mess around with an Ouija board. They used to do this in the common room and by the music room at the school. One “entity” who she believes they got in contact with was a man who claimed to have shot himself in Fold Hill, an area of Friskney. Aerial map of Fold Hill The girls got in touch with him on numerous occasions. On one occasion he informed Sam that she would get an A and two C’s in her A levels. Later on this prediction would be proven to be correct. However after a while the messages coming back became threatening. Her friend Melanie refused to continue doing the board. Soon afterwards they were walking down the stairs on the way to a lesson when suddenly Melanie fell half way down the stairs. She claimed that something invisible had pushed her. Years later while at Sheffield University Sam did another board in the basement of her halls of residence with about ten other students. One person present was a Dutch friend who lived in the halls. He was sceptical of what they were doing. Sam asked him to take his finger off the board. She then asked it to spell out the street where he used to live in Denmark. Apparently the board spelled out the correct location in Dutch, information she was not aware of. This of course really disturbed him. While many believe that Ouija boards work because of the people using them unconsciously pushing the pointer, it is incidents such as these which suggest there may be something more to them in some circumstances. Tall Figure When she was 15 Sam used to go out drinking at disco nights in Old Leake, a village close to Friskney. One evening she was out there with her friends Sharon and Tracey. They were on their way back to Sharon’s house to pick something up before making their way to Old Leake. There was no-one else around at the time. Aerial map of Old Leake They were walking along the pavement when further along the path ahead of them leaning on the back of a trailer they saw what appeared to be the shadowy shape of a tall figure. It had long arms and a long stretched face, and looked solid rather than an apparition of some kind. The girls immediately stopped walking and felt rooted to the spot in fright. Witness drawing of the tall figure They stared at it for a number of seconds before Sharon said “Come on!” at which point they turned around and decided to head straight for the disco. The girls laughed it off at the time, but looking back at the incident Sam feels there was definitely something not right about the situation. Paranormal Activity Returns In 2005 Sam was living in Southampton with her fiancé at the time Bob. On at least several occasions while living at this address Sam felt something touch her feet while she was lying down in bed. Bob would always be asleep or out of the room when it happened so she knew it was not him accidentally bumping into her. She told him about what was happening but he was sceptical about it. On one weekend morning Bob had gone out to play golf. Sam remained in bed assuming he was going to be out most of the day. But unknown to her he returned home and decided to play a prank on her. He sneaked into the bedroom and touched her on the feet. Sam defiantly exclaimed “For gods sake leave it will you!” speaking directly to what she believed was a ghost. At this response Bob replied “Oh my god, you weren’t joking were you?” About a week later Sam and Bob were lying in bed watching television. Suddenly from out of nowhere they both watched a shadow-like mass move up in front of the screen. It then moved across the room over by the window before fading away. Bob looked at Sam and asked “Did you see that?” Sam replied “Yeah, just ignore it, forget about it.” This was the only time they saw this shadowy entity. Missing Time By 2007 Sam and Bob had moved into a bungalow in Christchurch, New Zealand as they had gained full residency status. At the time they were both working. It was a summer’s evening in June or July. They had both returned home after a long day at work. It was about 6.30-6.45pm. Sam went to get a cold bottle of white wine from the fridge. She then brought it into the living room and poured herself and Bob a glass. They made plans to order a pizza, but before ringing up began by sitting down on the sofa and Bob put on some music – a CD by rock group The Feeling . They began drinking their wine and listening to the first song. The next thing Sam became aware of was of waking up lying on her bed facing the wall. She was on top of the bed sheets and still in her clothes. Checking the clock she could see it was 9.30am. She rolled over and found Bob lying naked on the bed next to her. He was staring up at the ceiling and had a frightened expression on his face. Sam asked him “How did we get here? What’s going on?” Bob replied “I remember putting the CD on.” “What happened?” Sam enquired. Bob simply said “I don’t know.” Both Sam and Bob were deeply concerned and frightened by the situation they found themselves in. Bob informed Sam that he had been lying awake on the bed for half an hour before she awoke. The couple remained in the bedroom for a further 20-30 minutes not daring to go and take a look around the house. In the end they got up and started exploring the house to see if there was anything out of place. They found that doors around the bungalow had been closed whereas usually they would have been left open. Their pet cat was locked inside the other bedroom. Usually they would leave it open for him so he could come and go as he pleased during the night. When they went downstairs they found that the bottle of white wine was back in the fridge with the top put back on, and the wine glasses had been placed in the dishwasher. The bottle of wine appeared full, suggesting that the wine had been poured back into it. How the bottle and glasses had ended up like this was a complete mystery. The CDs were left out on the side by the player exactly how they had been left. There was nothing else which appeared out of place. The couple had both lost about 15 hours they could not account for. There was nothing else they could do except get on with their day as normal. In the evening Sam and Bob drank the bottle of red wine as they didn’t want it to go to waste. This is a truly bizarre series of events. A suggestion which we should initially look into would be that the wine was drugged in some way and when they started drinking it they became intoxicated, got up, put the wine away, put the glasses in the dishwasher then went up to bed and collapsed. However the biggest issue with this explanation is of course the fact that they drank the wine on the following evening. If it had been drugged in some way then the same thing would have happened – but it appeared to be completely normal. If the wine was normal then what could explain what took place? It would be possible for either Sam or Bob to have some kind of reaction, but it seems very unlikely that they would have had this at the same time, even down to the particular song they were listening too. While there are no signs which would immediately link this experience with ET contact, such as flashbacks to seeing a UFO or beings, I have dealt with numerous cases before where multiple witnesses have all experienced missing time together. However if we assume the possibility that contact was involved, why would they have then put back the bottle of wine and put the glasses in the dishwasher. This tends to suggest that they were aware enough to perform these tasks at some point in proceedings and felt the need to do so. If they had experienced an abduction or visitation, surely the last thing on their mind would be to clear away the wine and glasses? There is the possibility that they were in a dazed state and did things automatically. But there are still the anomalies of the cat being locked in the other bedroom, and the fact that Bob was unclothed when he awoke but Sam was fully clothed. The incident still un-nerves both of them. In due course Sam plans to be hypnotically regressed. It is possible that in doing so an explanation comes to light. The Wire A few weeks after the missing time incident Bob began to mention sensing irritation a couple of inches above his left ear amongst his hair. One evening he and Sam were getting ready to go out to meet some friends. Bob an his fingers through his hair and felt something catch on his hand. He checked and found a short wire-like object sticking out of his skin. He grabbed a hold of it and slowly pulled the object out. It was about an inch long, pale blond in colour (lighter than his mousey brown coloured hair), and solid like a wire of some kind. Witness drawing of the wirey strand Bob looked at it and exclaimed “Oh god look at that!” Sam glanced at the object then flicked it across the bedroom exclaiming “At least you got it out. Come on, hurry up, we’re late!” This is not the first time that an experiencer has reported extracting something like this from them. However this does not mean it has anything to do with contact. Implants usually tend to be small metallic objects, this could well have been an infected hair follicle or something similar. It is a shame that Sam flicked the object away, but at the time she was not particularly familiar with aspects of the contact phenomenon. It was only after she and Bob went to watch the abduction-themed horror movie The Fourth Kind at the cinema that she started to wonder if what had happened to her was ET in nature. Conclusions Sam has had a variety of fascinating experiences throughout her life, some of which may be related to contact. One of the most intriguing incidents is of course the missing time which she and her ex-fiancé experienced. Most normal explanations can be discounted due to the fact that they both experienced this and that they had barely consumed any alcohol at all when it took place (as proven by the full bottle the following morning). Sam has also had many paranormal experiences. While not directly linked with contact it should be noted that a high proportion of contactees do report having experiences of this nature, and an indirect link does seemingly exist. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 04/09/2019 Last Updated: 20/10/2025 Note: For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used While many sightings reported to BUFOG are distant objects which cannot clearly be made out, occasionally we receive details of incidents involving clearly structured craft. This is one such case, a stunning multiple witness sighting of a large disc-shaped UFO which occurred in late summer/early autumn of 1993. Sarah, one of the two witnesses, regularly attends our monthly meetings. During her first visit she informed me of the incident. We then spoke over the phone on numerous occasions to go over the details. Sighting Details Back in 1993 when she was 28 years old Sarah lived in the area of Kings Norton Green. One Friday afternoon in late summer or early autumn (Sarah cannot remember the precise date) she was looking after her 8 year old nephew Timothy. Her friend Nicky got bitten by her pet hamster on her thumb. Her thumb started to swell up and she was worried she could get tetanus from the wound, so she decided it would be wise to go and get a tetanus jab at Selly Oak Hospital (which no longer exists). Sarah decided to keep her company for the drive. She offered to drive Nicky’s car for her but Nicky said she would be fine to drive despite the injury. So they headed off around 6.30-7pm with Sarah in the passenger seat and Timothy on the back seat. It was a very pleasant evening, still and warm, with a completely clear sky. It was still quite bright as due to the time of year the sun had only just started to set. In order to reach Selly Oak they had to travel North through Cotteridge and then Bournville. They began to drive along Pershore Road South. There were a few other vehicles on the road but it was quite clear. They pulled up at the traffic lights at the junction with Melchetts Road. While they were waiting for the lights to change, Nicky glanced out of the window off to her right. She suddenly exclaimed “Sarah have a look at this, what’s this?” From the passenger seat Sarah could not immediately see what Nicky was referring to, and replied “What?” Nicky responded “Have a look!” Sarah bent forward in her seat to have a look at what Nicky was staring at. Off to the right on the far side of the crossroads was a Peugeot show room (It has now been replaced with a Ford show room). Above the show room, no higher than several hundred feet up, was what appeared to be a dark grey cloud. It was unusually low in the sky, and looked like it was about to start dropping rain. Sarah said “It’s a big dirty low lying cloud.” Nicky responded “No…look again! This time she noticed something incredible. Emerging from the side of the cloud she could see what appeared to be a large disc-shaped object. It was silvery-grey in colour but not reflective. Around the centre was a line of white glowing lights. Sarah immediately knew that this was something highly unusual and felt she was witnessing an alien craft. She could barely believe what she was looking at. She excitedly exclaimed “There’s a big fuck off UFO emerging from the cloud!” She and Nicky continued to watch as the UFO emerged entirely from the side of the cloud. This took approximately 6 seconds. The object appeared to be about the same size as a medium-sized passenger aircraft (e.g. an Airbus 3300-200). This would make it approximately 59 metres/190 feet across. They were looking up at it at an angle of approximately 45 degrees so could see the underside of the object. As it emerged Sarah noticed a red light suddenly appear and perform a circular sweep in the middle. It only took a second to perform the motion then seemed to flash a little brighter and vanish. A moment later a blue light appeared and performed exactly the same motion. The lights went to green and Nicky began to drive the car forward so as not to block any other traffic. Sarah did not notice any other cars stopped or pedestrians standing still, so has no idea if anyone else had noticed the UFO. Nicky drove slower than usual along the road as they were still both transfixed by the object. They soon noticed that the object appeared to be moving too, travelling roughly the same direction they were moving in and at the same speed as the car. It remained situated ahead of them and off to the right. Witness drawing of the UFO over the car show room They drove North through Cotteridge along Watford Road then Linden Road. As they were travelling along Linden Road they noticed that the object was moving further away from them off to the right. They were in danger of losing sight of it. They reached the crossroads with Mary Vale Road in Bournville. At this point they would have needed to have continued heading North to reach Selly Oak, but instead they decided to turn right onto Mary Vale Road to keep observing the UFO. This was now their primary concern rather than the hospital visit. As they were approaching Bournville train station car park on their left, the UFO crossed the road ahead of them. They continued driving along the road until they were approaching the bridge that crosses over the railway. Through a gap in the trees off to the left of the road they could see the UFO hovering close to an electrical tower. It appeared to have stopped moving. They parked up at the side of the road. There were no other vehicles or pedestrians around. The witnesses sat in the car staring at the object for about ten minutes. Sarah says that a number of vehicles may have driven past them during this time but they were fully absorbed by what they were seeing, and did not care about attempting to draw anyone else’s attention to the UFO. It was still hovering completely still over the electrical tower. They set off in the car and drove over the bridge, then turned left along Victoria Road. At the end of this they again turned left onto Bournville Lane. This brought them back round to the railway line but this time lower down with it passing over the road. Just before the tunnel they parked up. After the last house on the left there was a vegetation covered slope. The electrical tower was visible beyond this, and the object was hovering above it. They were now the closest they had been to the UFO since the start of the sighting. Sarah asked Nicky “Wind the windows down, let’s see if there’s any noise coming from it.” She did so but the object appeared to be completely silent. Due to the angle it was hard to see from inside the car, so Sarah got out. Nicky remained inside the car with Timothy. Sarah could still barely comprehend what she was observing, but there it was, plain as day. Once again she saw the red light then blue light rotate in the centre of the underside. Witness drawing of the UFO close to the electrical tower Sarah stared up at the UFO for about 50 seconds. She then got back into the car and began discussing it with Nicky. She began to get worried that Timothy could be in danger and that the craft may attempt to abduct him. Turning round to check on him they found him visibly shaking on the back seat. He was obviously very upset by what was taking place. Sarah and Nicky decided it would be best to move a little further away from the object. They set off again, driving under the railyway line. They then turned left along Franklin Way, which brought them back to Mary Vale Road. Once again they parked in the same location they had been before, with the UFO still visible between the trees over the tower. Again they continued to watch it for at least ten minutes. By this time it was staring to get darker and the street lights had come on. With no signs of movement, the witnesses began to contemplate the idea of willingly ending the sighting. Sarah said “I’m getting fed up with watching it, we’d better get to the hospital.” A moment later the UFO began to rotate. It started to spin faster and faster. It then suddenly shot vertically into the sky! In a matter of seconds it became a glowing white point of light in the distance. Witness drawing of the UFO and how it looked when it was spinning Sarah thought this would be the end of the sighting but then to her amazement after a couple of seconds the UFO began to descend again at a slower speed, moving further away to the North East as it did. It continued to descend until it was about the same height it had been before. It appeared to be over the area of Selly Park where the River Rea flows. Sarah and Nicky continued to watch it for a couple more minutes before deciding to head to the hospital. They turned the car around and set off West along Mary Vale Road. This was the last they saw of the object. On the way to the hospital they discussed what they had just witnessed. However neither of them mentioned it to anyone at the hospital. Sarah says that she felt nobody would have believed her and would have ridiculed her about it. They remained at the hospital for a couple of hours before heading for home. Chinooks The following morning about 10-11am Sarah had to take Timothy back to her sister Rachel’s house on The Fairway in Kings Norton. She parked outside and got out of the car. She was about to knock on the door when she heard the very loud sound of propellers overhead. Looking up she saw three very large military helicopters. She had never seen anything like them before, and discovered later on that they were Chinooks. Photograph of a military Chinook helicopter The helicopters were heading North East in the direction of Cotteridge and Bournville where the UFO had been situated the evening before. Once she could no longer see them she knocked on the door and entered her sister’s house. Aerial map of The Fairway showing the estimated flight path of the helicopters She briefly mentioned the helicopters, but soon began telling Rachel and her brother-in-law Steven about the UFO she and Nicky had witnessed. When she finally finished recounting the details Steven said “Well that’s why those helicopters are flying over!” Sarah had not considered that the two incidents could be linked and asked “What do you mean?” Steven responded “Because they want to find out what’s been in their air space.” Sarah never found out the reason why the helicopters were flying over Birmingham that morning, she just knows that she had never seen them before up to that point. The News Report Two days later on the Monday evening Sarah watched Central News, the local television news hosted by Bob Warman. She watched it on purpose in case anyone else had reported seeing the UFO. Still of Central News from the 1990s Incredibly Bob began to mention that there had been numerous UFO sightings reported over the weekend and the news station had received multiple phone calls. They then showed video footage of what initially appeared to be a dark grey elongated object in the sky. As the camera zoomed in it immediately became apparent that the object was a powered Good Year advertising blimp. The camera zoomed back out, and once again the blimp became unclear. Bob then explained away the UFO reports as sightings of this blimp. Sarah was a van driver at the time, and would travel all around the Birmingham area. She had observed the blimp herself on numerous occasions earlier in the week leading up to the sighting and knew exactly what it looked like. She was extremely angry that the news was attempting to explain away the reports as this. She knew that what she had seen on Friday night was definitely not an advertising blimp, and wondered if they were deliberately trying to cover up other genuine sightings of the craft which had been reported. Text Messages From Nicky I have not yet been able to speak directly with Nicky due to personal reasons, however I got Sarah to send her a text message asking her about what she recalled. Sarah sent me some screen grab showing her texts and Nicky's responses. Below is the initial message she sent, and Nicky's response (censored for anonymity): It is clear from this message that Nicky recollected seeing the UFO alongside Sarah. It is also obvious from the wording used that Sarah has asked her out of the blue here. This fact is important, as Nicky's response is evidence that the incident took place. However her memories of what occurred seem to differ from Sarah's. Nicky recalls seeing street lights go out and car engines being stopped by the presence of the craft. She also seems to recall seeing her brother-in-law Steven when they returned to her flat rather than the following morning over at her sister's house. Sarah herself was confused by Nicky's recollection of what occurred at the start of the incident and so immediately messaged her back, which led to a second response: Sarah confirmed to me that she has no recollection of this happening, so this initially appears to be an anomaly. However a possible explanation for this is that her view from the passenger side of the car differed to Nicky's view. It is possible that street lights dipped and went off, and car engines stopped to the right of their car (which would have been in closer proximity to the UFO), but Sarah's view of this was blocked by Nicky in the drivers seat. With this discrepancy probably explained by the witnesses' positions in the vehicle at the time, the confusion which Sarah had towards Nicky's response is again an indicator of authenticity. If the witnesses had decided to make up a story (which I don't believe for a moment) I feel that they would surely discuss what they were going to say so that if questioned their stories would match up. Nicky does not mention anything about them following the UFO or observing it from the locations in Bourneville, but this could be because Sarah's initial text only asked her what happened at the traffic lights, not to give details of the entire series of events. Her difference in recollection of where they met her brother-in-law can easily be put down to error in memory, in multiple witnesses cases there are often small discrepancies such as this. Sarah is adamant that she observed the helicopters flying over herself the following day while returning Timothy to her sister's house. I hope to get the chance to speak with Nicky in more depth in due course. If this takes place then this report will be further updated. Incident Analysis This is a truly impressive sighting of what appeared to be a solid structured craft. Firstly let me say that I have no doubts that the witnesses are referring to a real incident. When I spoke in depth with Sarah about what happened she would give answers without hesitation. She comes across as very open, honest and trustworthy. The journey the car and UFO made all makes sense and we were easily able to find the key locations on Google maps. It is a shame that neither witness had a camera on them at the time as they were able to get quite close to the UFO. Mobile phones did not have cameras on back in 1993 and there were no other pedestrians around at any of the locations they stopped at. The length of time of the sighting is unprecedented – most sightings tend to last for only a few minutes at most. This certainly gave the witnesses time to observe the UFO in great detail at many different angles, greatly reducing the possibility of misidentification of a mundane object. It was clearly not a normal aircraft of any kind. It was far too large to be a radio controlled model, and due to the distance it travelled this seems very unlikely. The spinning motion and massive increase in speed and altitude which they watched it perform towards the end of the sighting it cannot have been a lit hot air balloon or blimp. It definitely appeared to be under intelligent control as opposed to randomly drifting due to the flight manoeuvres observed. I have dealt with many sightings of disc-shaped craft before, and in many of these sightings lights have been reported around the central rim. The intermittent circling red and blue lights are particularly intriguing. They would only occur roughly once every 5 minutes, tending to suggest they were related to a scheduled activity which the UFO was performing. The cloud which the UFO first emerged from is a very intriguing aspect of the sighting. It was an extremely clear evening and there were no other clouds in the sky at that time. Also the cloud appeared to be abnormally low in the sky over the car showroom. These facts suggest that it may well have been artificial in nature, and that the craft was initially using this as a form of disguise. This is of course just speculation, if it was using this as camouflage then why emerge from the cloud at all? The UFO moved off in the same direction as the witnesses’ car in roughly the same direction. This could perhaps be interpreted as deliberate, although as they proceeded North it began to get further and further away as it headed towards Bournville. However what is more interesting is the fact that the UFO span and shot vertically moments after the witnesses were considering leaving the area due to the fact it was not doing anything for an extended period of time. Was this just coincidence, or had it actually read their minds and performed this manoeuvre on purpose for their observation? I suspect it was merely coincidence, but this cannot be put completely out of the question. The locations where the UFO stopped moving during the sighting are also worthy of note. Over Bournville the craft hovered very close to an electrical tower and substation for a period of time. There is definitely the possibility that it went to that location on purpose, perhaps to drain electricity to utilise or to scan the area. When it shot up into the sky and then descended, Sarah informed me that it seemed to be close to where the River Rea was. Had it gone there on purpose to drain water from the river? There are many cases on record where UFOs have been reported in close proximity to water sources. Full map of events showing the route the car took, estimated path of the UFO, the location of the traffic lights on Pershore Road (A), the parking location at Mary Vale Road (B) and the parking location at Bourneville Lane (C) It is unknown whether the Chinook helicopters that Sarah witnessed on the following morning were anything to do with the UFO or not. While it seems tempting to link the two incidents, they did occur many hours apart. There could well have been a military training exercise or air show on that day. I have been unable to find anything online for August or September 1993, but it did happen a long time ago and a military exercise may not have even been written about on the net. The news report is another very interesting aspect of this case. It aired a few days after the sighting, but this does not mean that it could not have been related. It is of course possible that the news report really was referring to misidentifications of the Good Year blimp, which Sarah confirmed was over Birmingham that week. Perhaps it was just coincidence that this roughly coincided with the sighting. However given what has happened in the past time and time again, there is also the possibility that a number of reports of the UFO had been received, and the news report was put out on purpose to debunk these encounters. We have no way of knowing for certain either way, but if it was some kind of cover up, this confirms that there were other witnesses out there who have yet to come forward. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Year: 2019 Last Updated: 19/10/2025   Note: For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used   On Halloween 2019 “Jake” got in touch via the BUFOG website sighting report form to go over a repeated sighting he experienced back in the early 1980s. Unfortunately, we only have limited information at present as he did not respond to my further inquiries, but this case report covers what is known about the incident   Sightings Details   In the early 1980s (Jake is unaware of the exact year) he witnessed five or six lights forming a pattern in the sky to the North East over what was at the time known as Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) Cheadle, and now known as Woodhead Hall.   Aerial map of Woodhead Hall Photograph of Woodhead Hall  He claims to have not only saw them once, but on three or four separate nights over a two-week period!   Jake says that the final sighting of the lights particularly stuck in his head, because one of the lights flew within close proximity of his own house. He says it passed to the left of his property no further than half a mile away. Jake describes the orb as a “bright milky white light, with no noise, no vapour trail.”   As he observed the orb he felt like it knew that he was watching it. He has no idea why he felt this way as it was not in his immediate vicinity nor did it slow down or change course.   Sightings Analysis   This is an intriguing series of sightings. The fact that Jake saw them numerous times over a fortnight suggests that he was living/regularly visiting Cheadle at the time, which means that the lights would have been to the North East, as the below map indicating the position of Woodhead Hall in relation to the town shows:   Due to the year they took place a flight of drones can be ruled out, these were not used until decades later, even by the military. The fact that they moved into a specific formation rules out drifting inflatables catching light from the ground. The witness also gives the impression that they hovered still for a while once in formation (although does not expressly state this)   I would have suggested that they were a formation of distant helicopters, especially considering the fact that the location served a military purpose at the time. However, the witness stated that on the final sighting he saw one of the lights much closer up. Surely if it was as he said only about half a mile away he would have noticed other navigation lights such as red/green lights or a flashing strobe if it was a helicopter?   Below is a diagram showing the standard navigation lights of a helicopter:   It is possible that they were helicopters, and the one that went past his house was further away than he believed it to be, too far to see independent navigation lights. At distance the sound of the rotor blades would also have diminished.   Or there is the possibility that these truly were something more anomalous. It is quite rare for UFOs to make a re-appearance over the same vicinity on numerous separate dates. However, as it was an active military facility at the time they could have been interested in what was taking place there, and returned to it over numerous nights for monitoring purposes. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Year: 2010 Last Updated: 18/10/2025 The contact phenomena is both a very interesting and very important part of ufology. Over the years I have looked into this aspect of the subject in great depth. It is my belief that people from all around the globe are being regularly contacted and taken by a number of different extraterrestrial species. There appears to be numerous reasons for this activity – including genetic research, creation of hybrid beings through mixing of DNA, the ongoing protection and education of our species, and an awakening to a higher level of consciousness. Often numerous generations of a family will experience contact. There are many aspects to this phenomenon and many signs which can indicate it is taking place. Since becoming a UFO researcher have investigated a number of highly impressive contact cases. This report covers one such case. Becky is 48 years old and lives in Gloucester. Since an early age she has experienced many unusual incidents, most if not all of which may be connected. These incidents have included three close encounters with UFOs, missing time, visions of non-human beings, and many unexplained paranormal events. There are also a number of aspects to her personality and physical characteristics which are very interesting. This report will cover many of the strange incidents throughout Becky's life, which still continue to this day. It also includes the full transcript and analysis of her initial hypnotic regression. As Becky’s experiences are ongoing it is likely this report will be updated with other events as and when they take place. Becky has given me full permission to reveal the details within this report, including the regression transcript, for which I am most thankful. She hopes that it will help others who are going through similar things to come to terms with what is happening to them. The Investigation I first spoke with Becky on 5th February 2010. She contacted BUFOG via E-Mail to say that she was finally ready to talk about her experiences with someone. I rang her straight back and soon found out why she had got in touch. She had watched a recent TV program about UFOs. In this program someone reported exactly the same thing she had seen many years ago. This prompted her to get in touch with a UFO group. She looked around online and came across the Birmingham UFO Group website. Through our initial conversation I listened to a brief overview of two stunning UFO sightings, as well as several other unusual things she had experienced. I could immediately tell she was sincere. As is often the case, she had been ridiculed about her experiences numerous times, and was very relieved to finally speak with someone who took her seriously. On 9th February I drove down to Gloucester to meet her and her friend Janet face-to-face. Over the next few hours we discussed all her experiences in great detail. I was immediately aware that she was describing many of the things often reported by contactees. At this point she knew very little about UFOs or the contact phenomena, so the things she described did not have as much meaning for her, she just found them very unusual. After discussing the experiences she was aware of, I then went through a contact questionnaire with her (A modified version of the original passed to me by Mary Rodwell of ACERN). Both she and I were amazed at how many of the questions she could relate to personally. A number of the questions jogged her memory of other events not discussed up to that point, though many she had already answered. Becky expresses a sincere wish to fully understand what was happening to her. She has lived with it for so long and wants answers. She was therefore an ideal candidate for hypnotic regression, especially as she had experienced missing time, and also appeared to have blocked memories of certain key incidents. I discussed with her the pro’s and con’s of regression and she was very happy to go ahead with it. On Sunday 14th February, I and hypnotherapist Robert Tudge drove to Becky’s house to conduct the initial regression. At her request, her friend Janet (Name changed by request) was also present. You can read the transcript of this regression later in this report. We are planning a second regression in the near future. Since her regression I have stayed in touch with Becky and she has regularly kept me informed of new events. I hope to soon also speak with her daughter Tara (name currently changed for privacy reasons), who has also had some unusual experiences. The Burning Room Becky’s first experience of something unusual (which she currently remembers) took place in 1971 when she was 10 years old. Back then she was living in a house on Ullenwood Road, Coney Hill, Gloucester. She was the 2nd eldest of 6 children. Aerial map of Ullenwood Road: 📷 She cannot remember the date when the incident occurred but it was evening time. Her mum was out for the evening and her dad had gone round next door to visit the neighbour. Becky was asked to watch over the other children until their return. They all went up into the bedroom and after a while dropped off to sleep. For some reason Becky then woke up. She could smell the scent of something burning. She woke up the other children and told them to come with her. She walked downstairs and opened the door to the front room. Looking into the room, she was shocked to see that the whole room was on fire. Flames covered all the walls and ceiling, and the walls looked like they had blackened holes in them. Look back at the incident, Becky does not remember there being any feeling of heat, but she did not think about this at the time. She quickly slammed the door to the front room and ran out of the front door of the house. She knew her dad was round the neighbour’s so went round and knocked on the door. Her dad answered and she led him back to their house to show him the fire. When he checked the front room there was nothing there. He told her off and said that she must have had a bad dream. Becky refuses to believe that this was the case, and to this day insists that the incident actually happened as she remembered. She currently has no explanation for what took place. If Becky was indeed awake, as she remembered, perhaps the flames were some sort of hallucination. But she has never seen anything similar before or since so this seems unlikely. Could this incident be something to do with her other experiences, or was it a completely separate paranormal event of some kind? Mary Rodwell suggests that this incident may have been a precognitive dream. You will read more about Becky's apparent precognitive ability later in this report. Silver Disc Sighting When I and Rob Tudge visited Becky on 14th February 2010, we had a discussion about what she consciously remembered. We were discussing a sighting of three silver discs, which occurred in 1985 when she was 24 years old (see later). When we did so, she remembered another previous sighting which took place when she was 13 years old. This was the first time she had consciously remembered this incident. She was alone in her bedroom and remembers looking out and seeing a small silver disc-shaped object hovering outside the window. She believes it was about 18 inches across, and quite shallow in depth, and essentially looked like a smaller version of the objects she saw in 1985. The object was making a continuous pulsing humming noise. She does not remember anything else that happened with the sighting, it is possible that there are some lost memories surrounding this incident. Just as she forgot about this experience, there may well be other incidents prior to this one that she cannot currently remember. A number of times in her current property she has heard the same pulsing humming sound coming from outside of her window, even shortly after her initial regression (see later). She is certain the sound is not caused by the wind, or something else such as an electrical generator or central heating. Until she remembered the silver disc sighting she had never related it to this event, but now believes that it may be the same craft checking up on her. So far whenever the sound has occurred she has felt too worried to check out of the window and look for a cause. Out-Of-Body Experience In the same year as her first silver disc sighting, Becky had an out-of-body experience when visiting the dentist. She was knocked out with gas to have a tooth taken out. When she went under, she felt herself leave her physical body and could see what was going on in the room. She could hear the dentist and his assistant talking to each other. When she was woken back up, Becky complained that the dentist hadn’t properly knocked her out and that she could see and hear everything that happened. The dentist said this was impossible, but was amazed when Becky told him what he and the assistant had been saying. Incredibly, almost exactly the same thing has personally happened to me when I was 14 and also knocked out at the dentist, so I can fully relate to what Becky has described here! Falling Pictures To Becky’s knowledge, nothing else out of the ordinary took place until 1980 when she was 19 years old. She was now living at an address on Malmesberry Road, in the Chequers Bridge area of Gloucester. Aerial map of Malmesberry Road: 📷 Again she cannot remember the exact date of the incident. It was night-time and she was alone in the house. She was sitting in the living room reading the newspaper. It got to about 1am and she was thinking of going up to sleep. Suddenly all the pictures around the room fell from the walls one at a time in order. If one picture had fallen she would have thought nothing of it, but all of them coming down in such a way was really frightening. She was absolutely terrified and ran out of the house. She walked to Coney Hill to visit her friend Germaine, who was 14 at the time. She was so scared that she didn’t want to go back in her own house, and asked him if he would come round and spend the night on the settee. He was quite happy to do so, and returned with Becky to the house. Becky would not go back into the room until Germaine had been in and put all the pictures back up on the walls. He did stop over and the rest of the night went by without incident. Becky put what had happened to the back of her mind and tried to forget it had ever happened. Could a minor earthquake have caused the pictures to fall as they did? Perhaps the fact they appeared to fall in order was merely a coincidence. If not then this may well have been a genuine paranormal experience. If so, this could be a sign of contact, as experiences like this are commonly reported. Or perhaps it was completely separate and caused by something else, such as poltergeist activity. Second Silver Discs Sighting In 1985 when she was 24, Becky was now living in a two bedroom house on Northfield Road, part of the White City housing estate. She was living with her boyfriend at the time named Scott. One day in the summer, Becky was in the house alone. Scott had gone to a local pub with her friend Teresa, but Becky did not wish to go along, as she rarely enjoys drinking. It was late afternoon and she happened to look out of the bedroom window. It was a bright sunny day with a relatively clear sky. The view from the window overlooked a path, which lead to some stiles next to the nearby railway line. Aerial photograph of Northfield Road, with the railway line running alongside it: 📷 She could see Scott and Teresa drunkenly clambering over the stiles on their way back home. Suddenly something caught her eye to the left of her vision up in the sky. She could make out what looked like three flat disc-shaped objects, silver in colour, which were flying together in a triangular formation. Initially it was hard to tell exactly what size they were, but they had the same appearance as the disc she had seen when she was 13. Becky looked directly at the objects but they then completely vanished from sight. She looked back at Scott and Teresa and could see them again. This unusual aspect has been reported in many other UFO cases. It is not really known why this takes place, but could well be due to the unusual propulsion systems of the craft or the energy that they give off. It may even be a form of camouflage to mask themselves from view. Other explanations could have been the angle of the objects and the fact they were of quite low depth, or light reflecting off them which could have made them hard to see when viewed head on. Whatever the reason, when she looked indirectly at the objects, she could see that they were slowly descending in formation and slowly coming closer to Scott and Teresa’s position. She shouted out of the window at them to warn them about the objects. “Come on! There’s something coming!” she called out. They looked around, but their view was obscured and they could not see the objects. Becky watched the discs get closer and closer, as Scott and Teresa continued to walk slowly towards the house. She shouted out of the window again. Scott fell over onto the ground and was struggling back to his feet. As the discs got closer they were then visible all the time, even when Becky stared straight at them. She could now see they were about 10-15 feet in diameter, much larger than the disc from back in 1985. They approached the area, but rather than head towards Scott and Teresa they continued towards the window Becky was standing behind. They reached some nearby housing and were now flying extremely rapidly. They were so low down that Becky thought they were going to crash into hers or the neighbouring houses. But instead the three discs parted and went separate ways. One went to the left of her house, one to the right. The centre disc tilted up to over 45 degrees and passed between the two neighbouring detached houses then flew directly over Becky’s house. She heard no sound at all coming from the objects. Witness sketch showing view from window, the discs as they initially appeared (upper left) and how they looked when they approached the house: 📷 Becky was so shocked by what she had just seen that she hid in her bed until Scott arrived home. He came into the bedroom and she asked him, “Did you see that? Where are they” But Scott had not seen the objects at all and didn’t know what she was on about. Some craft can only be seen when in a certain awareness, so this may have been why Scott did not see the discs. Later, either the same night, or the night following the sighting, Becky and Scott went to bed. Becky laid down facing the ceiling. She closed her eyes then almost immediately heard a strange electronic sounding voice in her head. The voice said very clearly “I have you now.” She asked Scott “Did you hear that?” He replied “No – what?” “I have you now. What does that mean?” Scott told her she must have dropped off to sleep and dreamt it. But Becky is certain this was not the case, she had only lain down for a moment. Standing at the Window Between 1988 and 1990 Becky lived in a house on Derby Road. Several times her boyfriend woke up in the night to find Becky standing at the window with the curtains open. She was asleep but looked like she was staring out at something. Each time he would wake her up and help her back into bed. Becky may have had an encounter around this time which she is currently unaware of. In more recent years, Becky has had a fascination with staring at the night sky and the stars. She often spends ages staring at them through the window. She does not know the reason why but seems somehow drawn to them. This is a common trait of contactees, it is probable that Becky subconsciously knows what is happening to her. Glowing UFO Incident In 1996 Becky had once again moved house, and was now with her boyfriend named Matt. She was living on the 2nd floor of a block of flats named Parklands, just off School Lane. One night she stayed up quite late watching television. Matt had already gone to bed. It was around 12.30am in the morning. Suddenly Becky heard what sounded like a lorry with its engine running constantly. The noise was quite loud and sounded like it was close outside the flat. The noise was ongoing and she got angry at it, so decided to go take a look and see what was causing it. She walked up to the large window of the lounge, pulled the curtains apart a bit and peered out. Immediately she became aware of a very bright light above and to the right of the window. It was quite large but was so bright she could not see any object behind the light. The light had an ultraviolet tinge to it. It was completely lighting up the car park outside the flat. She was certain that the object was the cause of the sound, and wondered what it could be. It was completely still and she was sure it was hovering in the air quite close to the flat. Un-nerved by the light, she decided to go and wake Matt up. Witness sketch showing Becky opening the curtain and the glowing object: 📷 As she went into the bedroom, a sudden glow came from behind the curtains. Opening them she saw that the light had come round the side of the flat and was now outside the bedroom window, almost as if it was watching her. She also noted that the strange sound she had heard had now stopped, and the object was silent. She woke Matt up and he too saw the light. They stared at it for a number of seconds. Suddenly without warning, the orb of light sped up extremely fast and accelerated away into the night sky, gaining altitude as it went. In just a brief moment it had completely vanished from sight! However Matt told her to forget what she’d seen, despite having also seen it. She told him she could not and that the object was definitely not normal. But he didn’t want to listen and settled back down to sleep. Becky went back through to the lounge, sat down and thought about what she had just seen. It was now that she noticed that the clock in the lounge was now saying 1.30am. She suddenly felt really strange and realised a whole hour had gone by which she could not account for. Also the TV was now off, she was certain it had still been on when she went to get Matt. From that point onward the clock never worked again, even when they changed the batteries. She stayed up a bit longer before finally deciding to go to sleep. It is certainly possible that contact may have occurred during this missing hour, but so far we have been unable to discover any definite details linked to it, even during Becky’s first regression, which focused on this incident (See transcript later). In the morning, she started talking to Matt about the object. He told her to forget what she’d seen because nobody would believe her anyway. She replied to him “You saw it as well” , to which he responded “I’m not even going to mention it.” Later in the day, Becky asked the neighbours and some of the other people in the flat if they’d seen anything but no-one said they had. However the following day, Becky’s friend informed her that there had been an article in the newspaper which said that a man walking his dog in the early hours of the morning in the area of Quedgeley had seen something. Becky never got to read this article for herself, and does not know which newspaper it appeared in, but it is possible there was another witness to the object. Ever since the sighting, Becky has had a phobia of violet/blue tinged lights. She informed me that when she went for contact lenses a while back someone had shone a bright ultraviolet light into her eyes. She started hyperventilating and became extremely distressed. It felt like she couldn’t breathe and she quickly got up and left. Also recently she had gone to a bowling alley with Julie, but had to leave because of a number of bright blue lights that were there. It is likely that this phobia comes from her UFO sighting, and probably triggers flashbacks to the experience. An Unknown Presence For many years now, Becky has felt like a presence is observing her. This feeling comes and goes, but is sometimes very strong indeed. When I first arrived to interview her in February 2010, she said she could not feel anything. But about half way through our discussion she said she could feel it there next to her. Contactees often report this feeling of being watched. Occasionally while in her bed she has felt a presence behind her but has not turned round to see what it is. One time she was so certain there was something there that she asked it out loud to go away and exclaimed that she was not scared of it. Staring Eyes For a number of years, Becky has experienced something very unusual on a number of occasions when she has gone to bed. Shortly after lying down, while she is still fully aware of what is going on, she will hear a strange buzzing sound in her head. This is sometimes accompanied by pulsing vibrations and a tingling sensation in her legs. She then feels herself sinking into a deep sleep-like state, during which the buzzing sound gets more and more intense. Becky informed me this feeling is nice but frightening at the same time. Sometimes she will get scared and try to fight this and will wake back up. Other times she lets it happen. Whenever she does she gets the image of a face staring right at her close up. The face is blurred but has two “big black holes” for eyes which she is completely transfixed on. She never remembers what happens after this point. In the morning after one of these experiences, she sometimes feels like pins have been stuck into her around the area of her eyes. Mary informed me that implants are sometimes put in through the eyes, and this could be responsible for the pain she feels. Becky has also sometimes gets a sharp pain in her belly button. Female contactees have reported having an instrument placed here which causes this pain, which is probably used to extract eggs. She asked her GP about these incidents, and he assumed she must have migraines. However she does not get any of the usual side effects of migraines such as flashing lights, giddiness or sickness. Becky decided to go for a brain scan on 19th March 2010 just to make sure that there is nothing which could cause such odd experiences. Something interesting occured during the scan itself, you can read about it later in this report. She is currently awaiting the results of this scan. It seems entirely possible to me that Becky is experiencing contact during these incidents. The pulsing vibrations and tingling feeling she describes are often reported, and usually prelude a contact experience. The being she sees with the big black eyes is quite possibly a Grey staring at her. Without Consent As well as the incidents described above, Becky has also experienced something else a number of times – something highly disturbing and frightening. The experience always begins when she is lying down in bed and still awake. At first her legs start to feel shaky and she gets the feeling something is about to happen. She then hears the back door of the house open. When this happens she will then become completely paralyzed except for her eyes. She hears a figure walking up the stairs and into her bedroom. She then feels the unknown figure will then climb onto her and have sex with her. During this, she is usually too frightened to look at the figure. On the times when she has opened her eyes she has seen a shadowy form but it is never clear. One time the figure spoke to her and asked her to look at it, but she kept her eyes shut. After a short while, she feels the figure leave. This experience is of course highly distressing for her. Becky says this experience has happened for quite a number of years. Six years ago it would happen quite regularly but now it seems to happen less often. She informed me when I first interviewed her that it had taken place once in the previous month. She is aware of sleep paralysis, and these incidents do appear to fit some of the criteria; however she is certain that she is awake when the experience takes place, and after it is over she will usually get out of bed rather than just drift off to sleep. On one recent occasion she actually felt her body lift off the bed into the air prior to the figures arrival. The rest of the experience took place the same as it usually would, and once the figure departed she felt herself float back down onto the bed. Mary informed me that this activity is a pattern sometimes reported and linked to certain species of ETs. Unexplained Pregnancies On one occasion a number of years ago, Becky started to experience various signs that she was pregnant. She was not with anyone at the time but decided to get a pregnancy test just to put her mind at ease. The pregnancy test was a clear blue test, and it came out positive. Her GP informed her it had 100% accuracy and there was no question that she was pregnant. The next time she visited her GP and took another test, it came back a negative. The baby (if that’s what it was) had apparently completely vanished. Becky has felt like she is pregnant on other occasions as well. This feeling usually remains for a number of weeks. There is always the possibility that these are merely false pregnancies, but considering Becky’s experiences there may well be another explanation. In some fully documented contact cases, it appears that the contactee has been used as a host to grow babies of mixed alien-human DNA, which has then later been taken from them. Could this be what is happening here? For more information about this aspect of the contact phenomenon, I reccomend Mary Rodwell's book Awakening . Physical Signs Sometimes when Becky wakes up, she finds strange red blotches on her upper legs. As far as she is aware she is not allergenic and does not wear any specific item of clothing which could account for the markings. They do not itch or hurt, and always vanish within a day. Contactees often wake to find strange unexplained markings or rashes on them, which usually disappear after a short time. Currently she has no photographs of these markings, the last time it occurred, the markings did not last long at all. However she will hopefully soon be able to capture them on camera. On a number of occasions she has found tiny flecks of blood on her pillow and bedclothes. She cannot explain where they have come from and has checked to make sure she has no cuts. Recently Becky noticed that a small patch of hair towards the front of her head was missing. She has very healthy hair so this was quite noticeable to her. She asked her GP but he said it was unlikely to be alopecia, as the rest of her head was fine. He could not understand what had caused it. The hair has started to grow back now but the area was still partially visible when I interviewed her: 📷 Many contactees have reported having small areas of hair removed. The reason behind this is unclear, but the hair may be used as a source of DNA. It is certainly not definite that this has occurred in Becky’s case, but is still another interesting factor, and one which should be taken into consideration. Disturbed Sleep It is not at all surprising that Becky suffers from unusual sleep patterns. She informed me this had become especially prevalent in recent months. She feels she has insomnia and likes to stay up really late at night, and then sleep through the daytime. The fear of another encounter if she sleeps is the probable explanation for this insomnia, and is commonly reported by contactees. However a number of times recently she has also experienced a sudden desire to sleep. If this happens she tends to lie back and sleep wherever she is, not always go to her bed. Could this be related to her unusual sleep patterns or is there another cause? Dream Sleep When I asked Becky about her dreams, she informed me that she sometimes has strange dreams, but cannot clearly remember what takes place in them. She has had a number of dreams about UFOs, probably indirectly linked to her sightings. In one nightmare, there were hundreds of saucers in the sky and her neighbourhood was cordoned off by unknown people. Her and her family went inside and hid in the house, and she could hear an announcement asking everyone to remain inside. This dream was a nightmare and she woke up in a cold sweat. Fears and Dislikes As well as her phobia of bright ultraviolet lights, Becky has a number of other fears, some of which she has had since an early age. She feels distressed or unusual when she hears about or sees pictures of UFOs or extraterrestrials. She knows relatively little about the subject, because whenever something is on about it she has almost always avoided watching it. One time she watched the movie Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. She broke down into tears for a long while. She had no idea why it affected her in this way, but she has not watched it since. The only reason she watched the TV program which spurred her to contact me in the first place was because someone else had it on in the background. Becky has always had a fear of the dark. This has been with her since childhood to present. She always leaves the landing light on and the door ajar, and feels uncomfortable if she is in complete darkness. Becky is also claustrophobic and finds elevators or corridors especially uncomfortable. If there is a choice between using a lift or taking the stairs, she will always choose the later. If she does go in an elevator she feels like she will get trapped inside it with no escape. These fears could well be due to contact experiences she is not fully aware of at present. All of them have been regularly reported by contactees. Drawing Eyes Since an early age, Becky has had a fascination with drawing pictures of faces - either quick sketches or detailed portraits, and is especially compelled to draw eyes. The eyes she draws are slanted, and are large in comparison to the other features of the face. Sometimes she even draws them again and again, without being fully aware of what she is doing. She has no idea where this compulsion comes from, but it is possible she is remembering the eyes of beings she has met during one or more contact experiences. Below are typical examples of these drawings: 📷 Ageing Gracefully Becky physically looks a lot younger than she actually is. She has very good skin for her age and no grey hairs at all. Her friend Julie vouched for her when she said she looks almost the same as she did 20 years ago. Her younger sisters and even her own daughter look older than her. A while back she was worried about her health and visited a GP. He informed her that her skin, internal organs and uterus were like that of a 21 year old. Becky also feels that her skin heals very quickly if it gets damaged. It is not widely known, but experienced contact researcher and hypnotherapist Mary Rodwell informed me that this is another common trait. This could mean that for some reason Becky’s experiences have improved the health of her body and even slowed the ageing process. Electrical Interference Contactees often report unusual electrical phenomena in close proximity to themselves. It is not really known the reason for this, perhaps it is some kind of charge of energy that they receive through their experiences. The lights in Becky’s house blow much more regularly than they should. Also on a number of occasions the TV has turned itself on or off of its own accord when Becky was in the lounge. She has had an electrician check out the electrics of the house but he could not find any problems at all. On the evening of 15th February, Becky drove round to her daughter’s house. As soon as she entered, the lights in the house started to flicker. Her daughter informed her this had never taken place before and Becky was sure it was due to her presence. It disturbed her so much that in the end she decided to leave, and was informed later that the lights did stop flickering after she had gone. Paranormal Activity As well as the feeling of a presence watching her, Becky has experienced various unusual activity around her house. Contactees often report paranormal activity in their proximity. The activity Becky has experienced may or may not be linked with contact. It is possible that Becky has heightened senses as a result of contact, which makes her more attuned to experience supernatural phenomena. A number of times Becky has heard someone suddenly shout her name. She cannot tell if the voice is male or female but usually thinks it is someone else in the house calling her. When she goes to check, there is no-one there. On one occasion she was upstairs when suddenly she heard someone shout “Becky!” She ran downstairs but no-one was around. Her neighbour was outside so she asked her if she’d called her, but she denied having done so. This exact same thing was reported to me by Ken Butcher, another UFO witness who shows signs of contact (See report in 2009 Sightings section). Several times now when she is alone in the house, Becky has heard what sounds like footsteps going across the roof of the lounge. She is certain it is not the house creaking or echoes coming from next door. She says it sounds like clear footsteps of someone walking across the bedroom upstairs. She is always too un-nerved to go up and check the room. Every 25th March Becky feels something which feels like a hand stroke her hair. This has happened for a number of years, and she has no reason to believe it will cease. The time and location that it occurs at varies. Many times household items have mysteriously vanished for a time before suddenly reappearing in places Becky would certainly have checked. She says this really un-nerves her and happens quite regularly. Numerous times when she is lying in bed she has suddenly smelt a strong odour of violets. She has looked around for a possible source of the smell but can never find one. Her mum once informed her that her gran used to wear violet perfume, so she wonders if it is the ghost of her grandmother coming to visit her. On the 4th February 2010, several days before I met Becky for the first time, she was sitting in the lounge watching TV. The door was open, looking out onto the hall. She happened to glance at the door and suddenly saw what looked like a shadowy figure walk briskly up the stairs. She did not get up and check the house, but she was certainly alone at the time. Shortly after I left on the 9th February, Becky said she saw a dark figure walk past her lounge window. These figures are known as "shadow beings", and have often seen by contactees. Both her previous and current pet dogs have on a number of occasions stood in the hallway and stared and barked at a particular corner. Becky feels they are sensing something that is there. Also she informed me that sometimes her current dog Max will stand still and stare right at her for ages for no apparent reason. Repressed Memories A number of times during our discussion, Becky informed me that she wanted to tell me certain things but that it was like something was stopping her from saying them. When I asked her if she had ever seen any orbs of light either in her house or elsewhere, she said she was certain she had but couldn’t remember where or when. She said that when she heard that particular question her head felt very strange, as if something in her brain had “shifted”. Mary said this was more than likely a trigger for something Becky has experienced. Later I asked her if she was drawn to any particular remote places. Again she reacted strongly to this, and said there was somewhere where she was on her own but for some reason couldn’t remember where. She also mentioned that she does not like driving through the areas of Gloucester named Matson and Brocksworth. She has no apparent reason for not liking these areas, but always feels uncomfortable when heading through them. According to Mary, this is a classic reaction which has been reported many times before. We also discussed her family. She started to tell me about her brother, who had apparently been “taken away” from her mother shortly after he was born in the middle of the night. She said her mother had told her about this, but felt very strange when talking about it and felt there was more she wanted to tell me but couldn’t. She could not understand why he would have been taken away like this and finds it very odd. During her initial regression, Becky showed signs that subconsciously she has blocked memories, and at one point even stated that something was stopping her from remembering (See transcript later). Blocks in memory are very common with contactee cases, and I wonder if this is taking place here. What is certain is that during the Parklands glowing UFO sighting she experienced an hour of missing time that she cannot currently remember. This may well have happened on other occassions too. Precognitive Ability It is common for contactees to receive heightened senses or special abilities through their experiences. The reason for this is not really known. Becky believes that she has had a precognitive ability for many years, and can sometimes predict things that are going to take place. These predictions come to her at random, and have apparently protected or helped her and her family and friends a number of times. One time when she was out driving, she approached a roundabout. Just as she pulled out onto the roundabout, she felt a sudden overwhelming desire to brake to a halt. A moment later a huge lorry lost control, skidded and rolled over the island. If Becky had not stopped she would almost certainly have been killed. Another time she was on her way home from visiting her mum. She approached a junction and saw to the right a vehicle approaching with its indicator flashing to turn into the road she was on. She was about to pull out when suddenly she heard a voice in her head telling her to stop. She did so and the vehicle did not turn into the road but drove straight on by at quite a fast speed. Again she had been saved from being involved in a road accident. Many years ago, one of her friends was set to go on a holiday by train. Shortly before she left, Becky had a very bad feeling and told her friend not to go. Initially her friend ignored her request, but before she left decided to heed Becky’s warning at the last minute. She later found out that the train she would have travelled on had de-railed and there had been quite a few fatalities. Becky regularly goes to bingo, and often can sense when she is going to win money. She doesn’t know how, but gets a particular feeling which appears correct time and time again. Heightened Senses As well as her precognitive ability, Becky feels her senses are highly attuned. She has a very strong bond with her daughters, and can often sense things, such as when they are in trouble. She is highly protective of them and says her maternal instinct is extremely strong. Becky is also very intuitive about people (This fact was backed up by her friend Janet). She can often sense things about them without having to actually speak to them. For example she can diagnose issues such as autism or asperger’s syndrome, even if the individual looks completely normal. She also feels she is sensitive to noise and is aware of every sound around her all the time, both day and night. She believes her level of hearing is unusually keen. Contactees commonly appear to have high sense abilities such as these, so this is yet more evidence that Becky is experiencing contact. Ongoing Feelings When talking with Becky about her feelings towards herself and others, she came out with some very intriguing statements. She has always believed she has been put here as some kind of experiment. She doesn’t know where this feeling comes from and of course knows that she was born of her parents, but she has felt this for a long time for an unknown reason. Becky feels she is different to both her parents, and also her own daughters, in both appearance and some aspects of her personality. She also feels different to everyone else in some way, but is not sure exactly how. She has a very strong compulsion to look after her children, and feels this on an abnormal, almost primal level. She feels a particularly strong bond to her daughter Tara, and cannot understand why. Becky likes being on her own and keeps most people at a distance. This was confirmed by Janet, who said that she is often cold towards people even those who have known her for a long time. Feelings such as these are often experienced by individuals referred to as "star seeds" or "star/indigo children". These people show signs that their origins lie outside of our planet. Obviously Becky's answers and her various experiences are not definate proof of this, but it is still a possibility to consider. To learn more about star children, I reccomend Mary Rodwell's book Awakening, and Abducted by Ann Andrews. Generations It is widely known that contact can often occur through multiple generations of a family. While interviewing Becky, she informed me of a couple of unusual facts about her daughter Tara which possibly point towards her being a contactee as well. When she was young, Tara often used to wake up in the middle of the night about 3am screaming that there was something behind her bedroom door coming into her room. This lasted for quite a while. Becky would go and check, and never found anything out of place. Perhaps it was just nightmares, but then again perhaps not. In 2007 when Tara was 26 years old, she often saw shapes in clouds and took photographs of them on her phone. Often she said she could see eyes in them looking down at her, and that something was trying to talk to her through them. One particular cloud photograph that she took she claimed looked like an alien face. Becky thought she was acting very strange indeed during this period. I will hopefully soon get the chance to speak with Tara about her own experiences; if I do I will update this report with any new details that come to light. Initial Regression The regression hypnotherapist who assisted with the case is named Robert Tudge. He is highly experienced in regressing contactees and UFO witnesses after working with UFORM for many years. 📷 Before beginning the regression, which took place at Becky’s house on 14th February 2010, he spoke with her for a while to make sure she was happy to go ahead. Becky was fine to continue, so he began. Below is the full transcript of the regression. After the transcript I give my analysis on the various statements within it and what they could mean. R: All I want you to do is breathe, just breathe. As you breathe out I want you to relieve all of the tension, at the back of your neck and your shoulders. Just as you breathe out…let it go. And on the next breath too. And see if you can relax, all down your muscles, down your arms, your forehead. As you next exhale just let it go. Let that tension go. So it is with your upper arms, your lower arms, just breathe out and allow the tension of the day to just leave you. There you go. From your upper back, to your lower back, as you breathe out, just relax. Relax. And the noises inside the room, and the noises outside the room, will help you relax even more. Becky I want you to imagine yourself standing at the top of ten steps. You’re at the top, looking down some steps, and there’s a huge wooden door at the bottom of the steps. And you’re going to go down the steps, but before we start down the steps I want you to imagine a beautiful bubble of white light surrounding you. You’re inside this bubble, this is your bubble of protection. It’s above your head and below your feet. You can stretch your arms out left and right, you cannot touch the inside of this bubble, it will protect you. I want you to imagine now, small tendrils now growing out of your heels. They go out to the bubble, into the ground, into the subsoil. So you are protected and grounded, but you can move quite freely. And I’ll ask you to take your first step down. At the second step down into peace and tranquillity. Calm, comfortable, relaxed, completely at ease. And step number three. And step four, almost half way down. Calm, comfortable, relaxed, protected and grounded. And number five. Step number six. And seven. Almost there now. Eight…nine…and ten. You’re standing in front of a huge wooden door, protected and grounded with the steps behind you. I’ll tell you what’s behind the door. Beyond that door is a hallway that stretches out right into the distance, and there are doors to the left and right. I want you to go through that door now, close it behind you, and perhaps you’ll tell me when you’ve done that. B: Yeah. R: Yeah that’s great, that’s a good girl, that’s fine. You’re looking down the hallway, looking into the far distance. And you can see numerous doors to the left and right. And you begin walking down the hallway, and I want you to look at each door on the left and on the right as you go. Look to your left, look to your right. Because you’re going to be drawn to one door in particular Becky. Because behind that door that you’re drawn to is your subconscious mind. So walk down the hallway. Check to the left and right, and perhaps you will tell me when you’ve found the door that you’re attracted to….Keep walking down the hallway, checking to the left and right. You will be attracted to one door in particular, because behind that door is your subconscious mind…. B: Lots. R: There are lots and lots of doors yes, you keep looking, you will be attracted to one door in particular. You will know which one it is when you see it….Keep looking, keep walking along. Good. You’ve found it, yes? You’ve found it? B: It’s a black door. R: Black door ok. Is there anything written above the door or on the door? B: I can’t see. R: That’s fine, ok. In a moment I’m going to ask you to go into that room. In that room is your subconscious mind. At present you won’t be able to see it, you won’t be able to see it, but the room will feel warm and familiar ok. So just open the door and go in, you won’t see anything at present, but the room will feel warm and familiar. Are you in? B: No. R: It’s quite safe to go in. You’re protected and grounded. B: I’m in. R: Are you in there? B: Dark. R: It’s dark, ok. In a moment I shall be speaking to your subconscious mind, I’ll be speaking to your subconscious mind as if I’m speaking to another person. And I don’t want you to think about my questions or consider your answers, but just give them as quickly as they come. I’m going to count to three and snap my fingers, and your subconscious mind will appear as a shape, a colour, picture or a symbol ok. It will appear to you. One, two, three. Tell me what you see….What is it that you see? B: Dark. R: Still dark? B: Dark. R: Ok. I’m going to count to three and snap my fingers, and you will become your subconscious mind. One, two, three. Are you Becky’s subconscious mind? Yes or no? B: Yes. R: Thank you subconscious mind for appearing in that way. Subconscious mind, would it be appropriate to go back in safety and comfort to the incident at Parklands? Yes or no? B: Not sure. R: We have to have permission before we can go back to the incident at Parklands. You are protected and grounded, and there will be other safety measures in place, do you understand? Do we have permission to go back in safety and comfort? B: Yes. R: Thank you subconscious mind. I’ll count to three Becky, and you’ll come back. One, two, three. Ok you’re back in the subconscious room. Open the door and make your way back out into the hallway. B: Can’t open the door. R: Ok, ask it to open. Tell me when you’re back in the hallway. B: I’m back. R: Directly opposite, there’s another door Becky, and I’ll tell you what’s in that room. At the far end of the room there will be a television set. Eight to ten feet from the television set there will be two chairs, and there’s another chair eight to ten feet behind that. So go into the room now for me please. B: I’m in the room. R: You’ve beaten me to it. Very good. So at the far end of the room is a TV set. Two chairs side by side eight to ten foot from it, and eight to ten foot behind those two chairs there’s another chair. I am already sitting in one of those two chairs, will you come and sit with me please? B: Yeah. R: Good. Now at any time during this exercise you want to open your eyes you can do. Any time during this exercise you call my name or say hold my hand, I will do that, and I’ll do that for you now so you know. Ok? I am here for you, I am physically here for you Becky. Ok. So your body is looking at the television set, it is blank at the moment, but be aware you have a remote, and I have a remote. I want you now to float your consciousness out of your body, send it back to that chair that’s behind us. Drift your consciousness out of your body; send your consciousness back to that other chair. B: It’s going around everywhere. R: Tell it to sit in the seat. You have control don’t forget. It must sit in the seat, your consciousness must be in that seat. B: I’ll sit down. R: Is it sitting down or is it near the chair? That’s ok if it’s near that position. B: It’s in the chair. R: Ok, so your consciousness is observing your body, and your body will be watching the television set, so you are twice removed from what’s happening. Do you understand that? B: Yeah. R: You are protected and grounded, and twice removed from your memories of what happened at Parklands. Do you understand? B: Yeah. R: If you say Rob, I will hold your hand. If you want things to stop you press the remote, and it switches it off. If I want it to stop I will press the remote and switch it off. Are you happy? You’re safe and protected. B: Yeah. R: Ok. The TV will already be queued up for the incident at Parklands. When you’re ready I want you to press the start button, and tell me what you see on the screen. In your own time, you have control. B: I have turned the telly on. R: What’s on there? You tell me. B: Nothing. R: There’s nothing on there yet? B: No. R: Perhaps it’s starting from when you woke up on that particular day. Perhaps we’re going to see the entire lengths of the day….Is it still black? B: Having a look. R: Is there something on the remote you can press to get the picture and sound as you wish? You tune it as you wish. B: Some kind of silly noise on there. R: It’s a silly noise on there. Ah, you’re nearly there, we’re getting something. Adjust the remote so you can hear more clearly and get a picture. You have the remote, you fiddle with the controls, you know exactly what to do….And what’s happening now? B: It’s just lines. R: Lines. We’ve got a picture and it’s just lines. Ok. B: Just lines. R: Just lines. It needs tracking in. You can do that with the remote. You’re getting a buzzing noise and you’re getting tracking. You track it in so you’ve got a picture, of the incident at Parklands….And what’s happening now? B: I can see you sat there. R: You can see something on there? B: No I can see you sat down. R: I’m there. I’m with your body watching the television yes. And your consciousness is in the chair behind us. But what’s on the screen at present? B: Just moving shapes, it’s constant light. R: Ah, moving shapes ok. Adjust the speed on your remote then to slow it down so we can make sense of what’s on the screen. Can you do that? B: Yeah. R: Tell me what’s happening. What have we got? B: Clouds. Just looks like clouds. Clouds. R: Clouds, ok. B: It’s cold. R: You’re cold? B: Yeah. R: Don’t forget your consciousness watching your body, watching the TV. Just watching what’s on the screen. You are twice removed, you are protected and grounded, and I’m sitting alongside you. What’s on the screen now? (Becky jumps) R: What was that? What’s happening there? B: Something made me jump. R: Something made you jump. What made you jump? B: Don’t know. R: Ok. Can you tell me exactly what’s on the screen, do you recognise what’s on the screen? B: No. R: You can’t recognise it? You told me there were clouds on there. B: Yeah. R: What colour is the sky, around the clouds? B: Black. R: Black, black around the clouds, ok. Does your remote need a little tuning to get that as it should be? Can you do that? B: It’s coming. R: What’s coming? What’s coming Becky? B: I don’t know. R: Your consciousness is in the chair which is far away from the TV, just tell me what you see on the TV screen. B: There’s something coming. R: What’s coming Becky? B: I don’t know. R: Can you see what’s coming clearly? B: It’s a skeleton. R: Ok. Press the freeze frame. Press the pause button. Press pause, stop it for a moment, let’s just have a look. B: What’s that? It’s poking… R: Stop it. Stop it. You’re just watching something on a screen. This is your consciousness, watching your body, watching the screen. Where is the skeleton? B: Looking at me. R: On the TV screen? B: No, he’s out the TV. Out the TV screen. R: He can’t come any closer. He cannot come any closer. How tall is he? B: Tall as us. R: As tall as us. Just a skeleton? Just bones? B: Bones. R: He can move? B: He just walked, walked out of nowhere. R: He just walked out of nowhere. B: Yeah. I’m not even looking at the TV. R: He came from somewhere else? He has no right to be here. B: Ok. R: He has no right to be here. You have the power to deal with him. He has no right to interfere with this important work, which your subconscious mind has agreed to do. B: He’s just looking. Not saying nothing, just looking. R: If he stands by the TV screen will you allow him to stand there? B: He can stand there. R: Excellent. He must stay there. Good girl, well done. Can you ask him who he is?....What did he say? B: Nothing. R: Nothing. I’m going to count to three and click my fingers, and you will be that skeleton. One, two, three. Skeleton, what are you doing here? What are you doing here? You must answer. Why are you here today? B: Because I want to be here. R: Where are you from? B: Not telling you. R: Are you afraid of the truth? B: Not telling you. R: What do you need from us? B: Everything. R: You want everything from us? B: Everything. R: Who sent you? B: Nobody. R: My name is Rob, and Becky is here, on a very important day for her. What would you like to say to Becky? B: Don’t…don’t be brave. R: By being brave Becky will make progress in her life. Being frightened and being told what to do just prolongs the agony. B: We’re all watching. R: You’re watching? B: All of us are watching. R: All of you are watching. But you realise how important it is that Becky is brave because she’s been frightened for a long time, and things are going to change. B: No…No you can’t do that, you can’t take her away, she’s not going anywhere and she’s staying right here! (shouting) R: Exactly, so she’s staying here and being brave, and fronting it out, ‘cause it’s time to progress. She’s staying here, she’s being brave, do you understand? B: I’m going now. I’m going. You’re protected and grounded, and perfectly safe, you’re perfectly safe. We’re together, what did you see coming? B: I can feel it coming. R: You felt something, was it a familiar feeling? B: Mmm. R: Does it do that to frighten you? What does it do? What is it? B: It’s up my legs, it’s all up my legs, it comes up, it’s just all up my legs. R: What is it? B: The tingling. R: The tingling, that familiar tingling, yes? You’re protected and grounded, I’m here with you. You still got that feeling? Ok. We don’t need the TV do we? B: No, I don’t want the TV. R: Ok the TV’s gone, it’s you and I, protected and grounded together. Ok, ok. Is this what came at Parklands? B: I don’t know, I can’t see the light. R: We’re just looking, we’re just looking. We’re just sitting here. I want you to imagine your chakras. That’s a chakra, right there on your head, just there. And now I want you to imagine the most beautiful white light emanating from your forehead, let’s see what happens, let’s see what comes into the light, if you… B: Eyes! R: You can see eyes? Where are the eyes? B: In front of me. R: Ah, ok. You’re protected, grounded, I’m with you. B: It’s looking at me. R: Yeah. B: Coming! R: Stay there, you’re ok, it can’t get inside your bubble. B: No, it’s coming. R: It’s ok. You can see the eyes. What else do you see? B: There’s loads and loads of eyes. R: More eyes? B: Loads of ‘em R: Towards us? B: Towards my face. R: It’s ok, they can’t get in to your bubble, you’re quite quite safe. You’re illuminating what’s happening with your light, do you understand. You’re protected, grounded, and illuminating all around you. Ok. Is it still there? B: It’s still there. R: Have a good look at it. B: It’s hard to see, I can’t see. R: Ok, give it more light. Illuminate, just illuminate what you see. B: It’s just eyes. R: Just the eyes. How far off the floor are these eyes? B: Big eyes. R: Ok. What colour are they? B: Black eyes. R: What shape are they? B: Like holes. R: Shall you and I take a step forward towards these eyes? You’re protected, and grounded, and illuminating what’s in front of you. Just take a step forward. Illuminate more. Illuminate more. Lets see it for what it is, instead of skulking about in the shadows. Let’s bring some light here. What do you see? B: It’s fur. R: It’s fur? So we’ve got black eyes like holes and fur. What colour is the fur? B: I don’t know, just know it’s fur. R: Fur, ok. What shape is it, can you tell me? B: It’s not there. R: Ok, has it gone? I just want you to breathe…just breathe. B: It’s trying to get in my eyes. R: We’re not allowing that. More light. More light in front of you. Light of the universe that you’re giving through your third eye, and it’s illuminating this room, illuminating this creature of the dark, with its dark eyes like holes. You’re protected and grounded. B: I can’t see anything. R: Is it gone? B: No. R: Turn around, look for it, hiding in the corner. Shout at it. Shout at it. You just shout at it. B: It won’t listen. R: You haven’t shouted at it yet. Show yourself or be gone, that’s the choice. Tell it, shout at it. B: Gotta show yourself. Show yourself or go away. Leave me alone! R: Shout at it. B: Leave me alone! R: Good girl. B: It’s a coward, it don’t want to show me. It won’t show me my thoughts. It’s making me not think, It’s trying to make me not think, it’s telling me not to think. R: It doesn’t have the right to do that. B: I can’t think. R: You’re illuminating what’s in front of you, you’re illuminating the room with the light of the universe through your third eye. This is a creature of the dark, of the shadows, of the dark corners. You are a child of the light, it’s time you realised this. This is why they come to see you. You’re a beacon, a beacon of light. They’re drawn from the darkness towards you. B: I see the light now. R: Good girl. B: It’s right above my head. R: Ahh. What colour is it? B: White. R: White light. Purity. B: It’s in the shape of a triangle. R: Is it a star? B: No, it’s a light. R: A triangular light above your head. B: Now it’s a round light. R: It’s a round light. Ok. What colour is the triangle? B: White. R: I’m in a white light. R: You’re stood in a white light? B: I’m stood in a round white light, looking up at this round white light. I can’t see you anymore. R: I’m here, you can feel me. The light is so bright. Yes? B: Mmm. R: I’m here with you. I’m here with you. B: I’m just looking at it now, and it ain’t even doing anything, it’s just looking at me. R: Ok. Where did this come from? Above? B: Mmm. Came from the pitch black. R: From pitch black it came, and illuminated us both in a brilliant white light. What’s it doing now? Is it still there? B: It’s sending something to me. R: It’s sending something? What’s it sending? B: Can’t see. R: Can’t see what it is? Ok. Close your eyes and open your eyes. Go ahead and look. What’s it sending to you? B: It’s trying to get in my head. R: It’s not getting in. It’s not getting in. It used the white light. We only work with beings of one hundred percent pure light, nothing else. It’s trying to trick us. You’re protected and grounded, and you have the pure white light of the universe to defeat it. You have control, absolute control. B: It’s gone dark. R: So they’ve retreated. Is it gone? More light from your forehead, illuminate the corners, into the dark and see what you can see. B: Another light, the same as before. R: Uh-huh. We’ll give it the opportunity to show us what it is. B: I can see it out of the corner of my eye. R: That’s fine, that’s how they present. Just look straight ahead, take in as much as you can, and tell me what you see. You’re quite safe, protected and grounded, illuminating the area with your own light. B: It’s looking at me. R: So they haven’t got the courage to come forward and let us look? You’re not scared of them? How do you feel being protected and grounded by your own light. Does that give you courage? Good girl. We’ll leave them here. Just leave them. Just leave them and make our way back to that corridor. However you want, make your way back to the corridor. Just leave them in the dark, like the cowards that they are. B: I can’t find where I’m going. R: You will know exactly the way back. You have an intuition, you have the knowledge to find your way back to the corridor. Good girl, well done. B: It’s light now. R: It’s light now, are you in the corridor? B: Yeah. R: Excellent. Ok, shut the door behind you. Good. Ok let’s walk back to that huge wooden door. You and I together. Lets just walk through to the steps and close the door behind us. Ok. Before we go back up the steps we’ll take stock of what happened. You’ll bring all thoughts and feelings back with you, in particular your courage, and the knowledge that you have control. They are the beings of darkness. B: They want me. R: They want you? B: They wanted me there. R: Ok, what do you do, you face them down with your own light. You did it. I want you to remember that. Have pride in what you achieved today. Ok. So, start climbing the stairs. Ten to nine. Eight, seven, six. As you finish climbing the steps you come back to the room. In your own time, and take as long as you like, to come back to this room. As long as you want. Take your time. Take your time. Give yourself the opportunity to relax, there’s no rush, no rush at all. Initial Regression Analysis For the first regression we decided to concentrate on the incident at Becky’s Parklands address where she saw the ultraviolet glowing object and experienced an hour of missing time. This seemed like the most likely incident where additional memories may be uncovered. Not as much came out in the regression than we would have liked. It is interesting that Becky can consciously remember many aspects of the Parklands sighting (apart from the missing hour of time), yet under hypnosis she could not describe these details. There are a number of reasons why this could have occurred. It is possible that other issues in her life were getting in the way of remembering the incident and distracting her. Rob believes the skeleton she saw was a visual representation of Becky’s inner self, and that when it said it wanted everything this was an opposing reaction to Becky’s generosity towards others. Perhaps the TV screen and set up with the chairs was confusing to her, and put her off retrieving the relevant memories in this case. Later in the regression she tells Rob she does not need the TV and he removes it from the room in her subconscious mind. However another possibility is that the beings that I believe are in contact with Becky would not let her remember the details of the incident. This is known as a memory block, and is quite common in contactee cases. In the later part of the regression she states “It’s a coward, it don’t want to show me. It won’t show me my thoughts. It’s making me not think, It’s trying to make me not think, it’s telling me not to think.” This certainly suggests that she is currently being blocked from telling us what took place. I will now make a number of suggestions about various links between what Becky said under hypnosis and known contact experiences, based upon my knowledge of the contact phenomena. Some of the interpretations are more relevant than others, but all could be valid and point towards memories of experiences she has had. When Becky does finally get an image on the TV set, she sees a black sky with clouds. It is easy to dismiss this as just her imagination. But could it have been something she actually witnessed, perhaps when being taken up to a craft or through a window in a craft? This is a possibility we should consider. A couple of times in the regression, Becky appeared to get distressed and mentioned that she could feel something coming, but could not describe exactly what. It is certainly possible she was thinking about a craft or a being approaching her. At one point she mentions getting a familiar tingling sensation spreading through her legs. She also says she feels cold on a number of occasions. These could be feelings from either the Parklands incident or another time when she was taken. Contactees often report a tingling sensation prior to an experience, and have also often described feeling cold while on board et craft (Often they have clothing removed). During the regression, I felt that the “skeleton” that Becky could see was possibly a Grey or Mantis being rather than an actual skeleton. Even if it did resemble a skeleton, it may well have been a being using this image to disguise itself, or this could have been Becky’s way of interpreting its slender form. If we assume that it really was an et being, then when it told us that it wanted everything, it could have meant that it wanted Becky herself, her body and DNA, or possibly even her spirit or soul. However there is another unusual possible explanation for it stating that it “wanted it all, wanted everything”. As I mentioned earlier in the report, Becky appears to be precognitive and has had a number of premonitions. On the evening of Saturday 6th March, Becky put the TV on, and the hospital drama Casualty was on. One of the first things that came up was a doctor staring at his reflection in a mirror. Someone asked him what he wanted to which he loudly responded “I want it all! I want everything!” These are the exact words that Becky used during her regression. When she heard them she was immediately shocked, as she remembered what she had said beforehand. We should consider the possibility that when the “skeleton” stated these words, they were a premonition of what Becky would see on TV a few weeks later. If so, there is also the link that Rob was getting her to stare into a virtual TV screen right before the appearance of the skeleton. Could this have triggered a television-related premonition of some kind? This is merely a suggestion; I know that to many this may seem farfetched. When Rob spoke to the “skeleton” directly, it was adamant that Becky remained there with it. It also said that it does as it is told. This is an interesting quote as Grey beings are often mentioned as behaving like workers, with specific tasks to perform. Another telling sign that it may have been an alien being is that it said that all of them were watching. An interesting statement considering there was only itself present. It could suggest that extraterrestrials have been observing Becky for a time and may well continue to do so. In the later part of the regression, it seems likely that Becky could see one or more non-human beings around her, perhaps from the Parklands incident, or perhaps from a different experience. Shortly after describing the tingling sensation, she described seeing large black eyes like holes looking at her, but could not describe the rest of the being, other than saying it had fur. The description of the eyes suggests that the being was a Grey, but these are usually described as being hairless. She was possibly referring to something the being was wearing, or maybe it was a different species altogether. At one point she saw lots of eyes staring at her, suggesting that numerous entities were in her presence during at least one contact experience. Near the end of the regression, Becky described seeing a glowing white triangular shaped light shining light down from above all around her. It is possible that this triangle is a craft that she has seen, and she is remembering it shining a beam down around her. Or perhaps it is a light on board a craft placed over her during a contact experience. When Rob asked what was happening, Becky said that it was sending something to her, and that it was trying to get into her head. Numerous contactees have reported receiving information delivered straight into the brain like a download. Perhaps this is what she was referring to. Alternatively she could have meant that it was trying to read her mind. As you can see, there are many aspects of the regression that suggest Becky is a contactee. Both myself and Rob believe that many of the memories of what she has experienced are still buried deep down, and she may well have had memory blocks put into place to prevent her remembering, even under hypnosis. Becky plans to go for another regression soon, if it takes place, I will again add the transcript and analysis of it to the report. Opening Windows Since the regression, Becky has felt compelled to open both the curtains and window of her bedroom when she goes to bed, even if it is a cold night. She has no idea where this has come from but it certainly seems that the regression was somehow the cause. Perhaps it is so she can see if anything is approaching her house in the air. Alternatively she may be subconsciously welcoming another experience, opening her window to let in whatever is in contact with her. Fire In The Sky In early March 2010 Becky was sitting watching TV with Julie. She suddenly had a thought about watching the movie Fire In The Sky, which is about the Travis Walton abduction case. She had seen the movie many years ago, but had no conscious reason to have suddenly thought of re-watching it. She had forgotten most of what took place in the film, but felt compelled to watch it again. It is possible that the regression and speaking about her experiences has somehow struck a chord with her and reminded her of something from the movie. Once she gets hold of it and watches it again, I will ask her whether it jogs any of her own memories. The Noise Returns! On the night of 9th March 2010 Becky went up to bed around midnight. She lay down in bed, with the window and curtains open like usual (see above). After a few minutes the familiar pulsing humming noise suddenly began. It was quite loud and was coming from close outside her bedroom window. She immediately recognised it as the noise the silver disc she had seen when she was 13 had made. She was certain that it wasn’t being made by wind (it was quite a still night), or something else nearby such as an electrical generator or house heating. She became convinced that this was a same or a similar craft was close to her window. However she was very worried about this fact, and was too scared to take a look. She remained in bed listening to the sound, and after a while dropped off to sleep. She is unaware of anything else out of the ordinary occurring that night. Becky says that although she was scared on this occasion, if she hears the sound again she will grab her camera and take a look out of the window. The Fourth Kind On 18th March 2010 Becky went to the video store to hire out a couple of movies. She took them up to the counter, and found that she had picked up an extra movie unintentionally. That movie turned out to be The Fourth Kind, the latest movie to be based around the abduction phenomenon! She has no idea why she was drawn to this or picked it up. Perhaps she subconsciously noticed what the movie was about, and that it relates to her own experiences. I warned Becky that the movie was designed as a horror film and had some quite disturbing moments in it, but she decided to watch it anyway. Several of the things she saw in it struck a chord with her and brought back new memories related to her experiences. She remembers on at least four occassions waking up to find herself standing in the bedroom, feeling very out of breath with her heart beating fast. She does not suffer from sleepwalking so these incidents may well have been directly after contact experiences. She also remembers suddenly waking up and sitting up in bed, trying to shout. But no noise would come out no matter how hard she tried. On this occassion she tried waking her boyfriend but he would not wake up, no matter how hard she shook him. This has been reported before by contactees, and probably took place just prior to or after a contact experience. The aspects of incidents like this suggest that the ETs use some sort of time distortion effect to prevent inference in what they are up to. She also mentioned again the fear that something was behind her bedroom door. She had informed me of this before, but this was something else that occured in the movie which she could directly relate to. Brain Scan On 19th March 2010 Becky went for a brain scan, just to make sure that the headaches, feelings of being observed, buzzing noises and other unusual things she is experiencing are not being caused by something more down-to-earth than ET visitation. She was made to lie down in the brain scanning machine. A few seconds after they switched in on, it suddenly stopped working! The doctor said he was extremely sorry and that this had never happened before, and that he couldn't understand what had taken place! Becky had to wait a long time before the scanner was fixed, and she was finally able to have the scan. This time around it did not break, and she is currently awaiting the results of the scan. Was the breakdown of the scanning machine just a bad coincedence? Or did Becky or something inside of her somehow interfere with it? Earlier in the report I mentioned that electrical equipment and lights have malfunctioned before when in proximity to her, this interference is a common trait reported by contactees. Conclusion As you can see, Becky has experienced an incredible amount of sightings and unusual activity over the years. She has had three very impressive encounters with unidentified objects, none of which can be easily dismissed. She has witnessed strange paranormal activity around her home on numerous occasions. Despite so far not having any clear recollections of contact with entities, I am convinced that she is a repeat contactee. I feel she is experiencing and displaying too many signs that contact is taking place for it to all be pure coincidence. These thoughts are mirrored by highly renowned contact researcher/hypnotherapist Mary Roswell. The black eyes she sees staring at her, the tingling and buzzing noise she hears, the paralysis and feeling she is being observed are all possible aspects of contact experiences she has had, which have subsequently been blocked out from her conscious memory. Sometimes she is left with other telling signs that something has occurred, such as unexplained markings and pains. Other aspects of her life such as her precognitive ability, keen senses and physical health may well be directly related to her experiences, as has been reported many times before. Her feelings and phobias, likes and dislikes, are again signs that contact is taking place. I am certain that as time goes by, Becky will discover more about what is happening to her and how it influences her life. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 08/11/2020 Last Updated: 14/10/2025 Note: For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used for some witnesses Joseph Seymour has been a member of BUFOG for a number of years now. He has had numerous fascinating experiences throughout his life since childhood. After keeping these experiences largely to himself for many years he has finally decided that it is time to get them documented and shared with the UFO community, to help further understanding of the contact phenomenon as well as help others going through simlar experiences. This report documents these incidents in approximate age order. The Troll Joseph was born in Battersea, London but in 1968 his family moved to Aylsham in Norfolk as his father got a job in the area. He shared a house on Sir Williams Close with his parents Steve and Patricia and two older sisters Jemma and Kerry. It was quite a rural location and only 5 miles away from RAF Coltishal (which is no longer active). Aerial map of Sir Williams Close It was a day in 1969 when he was 4 or 5 years old. He was playing at the base of the staircase. His mother was upstairs at the time. He happened to glance up the stairs. Standing at the top of the stairs he saw a short troll-like creature. It was humanoid in shape but only about 2.5 feet tall. The figure looked like a wrinkled old man with tan brown coloured skin. He had facial hair and scrappy looking hair, and was wearing a brown coloured tunic. He was leaning forward in a slouching position. Joseph watched as the creature wandered into his sister’s bedroom, then back out and into his parent’s bedroom. He then heard his mother Patricia let out a scream! He was too frightened to go upstairs to find out what was going on. Patricia did not run downstairs. When he saw her later on he does not remember speaking with her about it, however he does remember being scared to go upstairs for a number of days. Soon after, possibly within the same month, Joseph saw the creature a second time. He was walking upstairs to use the toilet. He suddenly heard a number of footsteps on the floor and watched the creature emerge from his sister’s bedroom onto the landing. It walked along the landing ignoring him completely and entered his parent’s room just like before. This time he noticed a strong smell of sulphur coming from the creature. He turned and ran back downstairs. He did not discuss what happened with his family as he did not think they would believe him. Around 2008 ago Joseph recalls bringing up the first incident with Patricia in conversation but she could not remember anything taking place. If Joseph had only seen the creature once then it may have been possible it was just one of his sisters dressed up and playing a prank on his mother, or even his young imagination. However the fact that he saw it on two separate occasions suggests that it was a real being or entity of some kind. If so what could it have been? Numerous contactees have reported seeing very short dwarf-like creatures before, sometimes at the same time as other ETs. Could this have been one of these beings? Or perhaps it was a ghostly apparition of some kind, which may be why it walked the same path twice and appeared not to notice his presence. The Bouncing Orb In his childhood Joseph would regularly play with his friends around a World War II pill box at a local recreation ground situated alongside Sir Williams Close. The pill box was at the edge of a large ploughed field which has now been converted into a housing estate. It was a sunny day with a clear sky. To the South of them lay the field surrounded by hedgerows, with RAF Coltishal visible in the distance. Joseph looked across the field and noticed in the distance what appeared to be a glowing orange ball of light. It was hovering over one of the hedgerows several fields away. It appeared to be about 10 feet across and seemed to be translucent around its edges rather than a solid object. The ball was bouncing to the right along the top of the hedge going like the singing marker on a karaoke video. Joseph pointed it out to his friends. They continued to all watch the unusual object. It appeared to be slowly moving back and forth along the hedgerows. Eventually it reached the far left corner of the field they were at. As it reached this corner it suddenly bounced down into the field! Then without warning it sped up and shot right across the field in front of them! It took about 15-20 seconds to cross the field. As they watched this happen in astonishment, they noticed a car pull up at the edge of Sir Williams Lane on the Western edge of the field. The driver and passengers got out and also appeared to be watching what was taking place. The orb must have been much closer to them. They watched a short while then seemed to hurriedly get back in their car and drive off, no doubt excited or perhaps even frightened about what they’d just observed! Soon after the car had left the orb had fully crossed the field. It reached the first of a row of council houses on Sir Williams Lane. It then appeared to vanish into the wall of this. Drawing of the field and orange orb indicating path of movement Joseph and his friends were not scared by what they had witnessed, they were simply amazed. They did not think about walking over to the house that the ball had vanished into, they just continued playing. Joseph does not remember whether he told his family about what he’d seen or not. Childhood Visitations The first visitation from beings which Joseph recollects occurred in 1970 when he was 5 or 6 years old. At the time he slept in a downstairs bedroom. It was very dark during the night as there was not much light coming into the room from outside (In the mid 1970’s a street light was erected near to his house but before then it was much darker). For an unknown reason he woke up in the middle of the night. The only light coming into the room was moonlight from around the edges of the curtains. He glanced over at the door of his room, which was open and lead out to the hall way. Standing in the doorway was a Grey – obviously at this time Joseph was unfamiliar with UFOs or contact. The being was about three feet in height which a rounded head, and large black almond shaped eyes. On each hand were three or four long clawed fingers. The Grey was wearing a dark coloured skin tight jumpsuit. The being stood in the doorway staring at him. Joseph was struck by the size of the being’s head against the rest of its body. He was petrified of it and just stared back at it not knowing what to do. He does not feel that he was paralyzed at the time, but was too frightened to shout out for his family. He wondered what was going to happen next. The Grey stepped forward towards his bed. It was followed by two others who looked the same as it. They walked towards him until they were clustered around next to the bed. One of the beings had a black rod-like instrument in its hand. Joseph was in a state of shock and did not move. Two other taller beings wearing dark hooded cloaks then also entered the room through the open door. These taller beings were roughly six foot in height. They too had clawed hands, but their faces were more narrow and insectoid in appearance, with smaller rounded eyes. Thinking back to the experience Joseph feels sure that they were making a chirping noise. Many years later Joseph would come to learn that these beings were referred to as Mantids by the UFO community. Suddenly a glowing white light lit up on one end of the black rod which one of the Greys was holding, almost like it had been switched on. The glow from this lit up the beings, making it easier to see their features. The light looked similar to the UV lights which are sometimes used to light up fish tanks at aquariums. The Grey reached out and touched Joseph on the forehead with the rod. Immediately a sense of calm spread throughout his mind and he no longer felt frightened by the beings. He does not recall what happened after this point. There is the possibility he was abducted but he has no recollection of this at present. The next thing he became aware of was of waking up in the morning. He did not tell his parents about what had happened, as he felt they would just say it had been a nightmare. From this point onwards Joseph would experience visitations by similar beings roughly three times a year, usually around the autumn months. There would not always be the same number of beings, and sometimes there would be a sulphuric smell, but the general aspects of these experiences would be similar. One notable incident that took place was a visitation by a singular Grey in October 1971. This took place in daylight hours and was also witnessed by his sister Jemma. Joseph was outside in the garden while his parents and sisters were inside the house. It was a pleasant, sunny and still day. At the south west corner of the garden there was a cooking apple tree. Joseph was on the lawn kicking apples around on the grass. He turned round and saw a Grey standing in the garden roughly 20 feet away from him under the apple tree. It was roughly three feet in height and was wearing a dark grey coloured hooded robe. He could see the being’s face and hands. It had smooth pale grey coloured skin. Its eyes were large, black and almond-shaped. It had a very small nose and a slit-like mouth. The being was standing still with its arms down by its sides. Its fingers were elongated and thin with claw-like ends. Witness drawing of the Grey under the apple tree Joseph wanted to grab hold of the being. He was not frightened of it, just curious. He ran towards it. As he got to about 3 feet away from it, the being seemed to fold in on itself and vanish into thin air! He was disappointed it had gone but excited about what he had just seen. He ran back into the house and told his sisters (who were 14 and 16 years old at the time) about the being, saying “I’ve just seen something unusual. There was this short man outside!" He tried to get them to look out of the window towards the apple tree. Jemma decided to look. She immediately shouted out “There’s a little man standing under the tree!” He does not recall whether Kerry also looked outside, but does remember that his parent’s told him off for frightening his sisters. Joseph forgot about this particular incident for many years. It was only after he had his own children that it began to come back to his memory. He asked Jemma about what happened but she denied it took place. He no longer speaks with his sisters so unfortunately I am unable to talk with them directly. The last visitation in his younger years which he recalls occurring took place in September 1975 when he was 11 years old. By this time he had started high school and had been given keys to let himself in at 3.30pm after school each day. He also now had his sister’s old bedroom as they had gone away to university and art college. On the day of the incident he does not recall his parents being there, he thinks it is possible that they’d gone on holiday. His grandparents lived next door so they were around if required. He let himself in, went up to his bedroom and lay down on the bed to read a comic. After several minutes, three figures suddenly walked into the room. At first they looked like his mother and sisters, but they were all about six foot tall, all wearing dark grey coloured jumpsuits, expressionless and had black coloured eyes. Within moments their faces changed and Joseph saw them as three Greys walking towards him. He then suddenly had the feeling of blacking out and falling downwards into the bed. When he came round it was late evening, about 9.30pm. There were a number of hours he could not account for. He felt disorientated and nauseous. As his parents were away at the time nobody else was aware of what had happened. Over the years these visitations took place Joseph cannot recall ever speaking in depth with his family about what was taking place. This puzzles him and he does not know why he did not do this, he says that this was out of the ordinary and that he would usually speak with them about thinks. He recalls making a vague mention that there was something odd with the house, but his father brushed it off saying that he had built the house from the foundations up and there was nothing wrong with it. Waking Up Outside In the spring of 1971 Joseph began to have recurring dreams of flying over the house and recreation ground. On a number of occasions he would then wake up and find himself standing outside the house on the grass still wearing his pyjamas. After this happened several times his parents began bolting the doors and windows at night as they naturally assumed he must be sleepwalking. However after this was done he continued to find himself outside, which greatly perplexed them. One time when this happened he was discovered outside by the neighbours of his grandparents (They actually mentioned this incident at his mum’s funeral many years later). On one occasion he woke to find himself over a quarter of a mile away from home in the early hours of the morning. On another he felt like he was falling down onto the grass when he came round. It was roughly 5am and he was quite a distance from his house. This led to him having nightmares about turning up to school wearing his pyjamas. His parents were religious and began to suspect that there was something evil in the house which was causing Joseph’s night time disappearances. In the end they called in a priest to bless the house. They also contacted a hypnotherapist who attempted to hypnotise him to see if they could determine what was happening. However they were not able to do so. It is of course entirely possible that these experiences were down to repeated sleep walking incidents. Perhaps Joseph was mistaken when he thought that his parents had locked all the windows and doors and he was still able to find a way outside, he was after all quite young at the time, and we have no way of verifying if all the windows and doors were truly locked. Even if they were there is the possibility that Joseph was able to unlock them himself in his sleep and then get out. However when abductees are taken, they are not always put back in exactly the same location they are taken from. Therefore the possibility remains that Joseph was being regularly abducted and had the memories of these experiences removed. Vision In The Flames In late 1971 Joseph visited the local library and borrowed a book about Vedic scripture to read. One night soon after reading through the book he experienced a strange vision. It was night-time and he headed upstairs to his bedroom. When he walked into the room there was a light glowing over his bed. Within this light was a vision of flames within which was an arrangement of smaller circles. Inside each of the outer circles was an animal - a panther a bird (stork). a lion, a bear, a monkey and a snake. In the central circle was an indian woman, no taller than 5 inches high. She was dancing with her arms and legs in the shape of a swastika. Witness drawing of the vision As he stood and stared at this bizarre sight he felt that if he walked closer towards it the flames would consume him, but if he backed away from it he would freeze to death. The vision lasted for up to two minutes before suddenly vanishing, plunging the bedroom back into darkness. Soon after the experience he told his sisters about what he had seen. Jemma was disturbed by this and in turn told Patricia, who then told him off about it. In recent years Joseph spoke with his Indian friend about the vision. They informed him that it may have represented Stravana, the female aspect of Rashi Lord of the Dance. Other possibilites are Parvati, the Hindu goddess of fertility, love, beauty, harmony, marriage, children, devotion, divine strength and power, or Kali, another Hindu Goddess and the chief of the Mahavidyas . Obviously the fact that he had just been reading a book about Hinduism could have had something to do with what he saw. He saw the vision before getting into bed, so it could not have been a dream, but could it have been a visual hallucination of some kind? Orange Orb In Garden On one evening in the summer of 1970, Joseph’s parents and Jemma had gone out to a fete, leaving Kerry in charge of looking after him. His bedroom was downstairs at the time. Between 10-11pm he recalls waking up and going upstairs to use the toilet. It was very quiet so he looked around for his sister but could not find her anywhere, it was like she had vanished from the house. Joseph says she was quite responsible so would not have left the house willingly leaving him on his own. He went into his parent’s bedroom to look for Kerry. While in there he happened to glance out of the window. It was dark outside but still possible to see the surroundings. Low down near the hedgerow of the garden he saw an orange glowng ball of light, similar to the one he had seen over the field, but not as large. It was about the size of a football. It swept across the garden and halted near to the apple tree a moment, before disappearing from sight. Joseph was not frightened by the orb, he was more curious. He was much more concerned that his sister appeared to no longer be in the house. He does not recall when his sister re-appeared but she must have been there when his parents arrived home. To this day Joseph wonders if his sister was abducted from the house that evening, and that the orange orb seen was linked with this abduction. Black Disc Around the same period of time as his sister’s disappearance, Joseph recalls another incident where he saw a UFO hovering close to the house. Like before he remembers waking up and going upstairs to the toilet, and again finding nobody around. He went into his sister’s room to look for them. When he looked over at the window the curtains were open. Outside quite close to the glass he saw the silhouette of a domed disc shaped object. It appeared to be about 12 feet across. There were no markings or lights visible on it. At first it was hovering completely motionless. Joseph stood there froze to the spot. He was not paralyzed but did not know what to do, he just stared at it. After about 20 seconds the disc suddenly moved off to the right and was lost from view. He walked back out onto the landing. Looking back down the stairs he could then see strange moving lights reflecting off the walls. It was almost like someone was holding a torch and spinning it round in their hand. He was un-nerved by this and so remained upstairs. After about two minutes the lights vanished. Joseph is not entirely sure what happened next. He assumes he must have gone back downstairs and got back into his bed. The whole situation was bizarre, and he is unsure why his parents and sisters would have been missing from their rooms. Woodbridge As you are probably aware, the Rendlesham Forest Incident of December 1980 is one of the most well-known and fascinating UFO incidents that has ever taken place in the United Kingdom. It involved many military witnesses from two Air Force bases – Woodbridge and Bentwaters. Various UFOs and even beings were encountered over several nights. I will not go over the details of this incredible case here, but if you are unfamiliar with what happened it is definitely worth looking into. At the time of the incident Joseph was 16 years old and played in a brass band named Aylsham Silver Band. The conductor, Lenny Spinx, as well as numerous other people in the band were ex-military, so they would often get invited to play as entertainment at military bases around the UK. In mid January 1981, just a few weeks after the infamous incident, his band was invited to play as part of a bands night at RAF Woodbridge! Aerial map of RAF Woodbridge and Rendlesham Forest When they arrived at the base Joseph noted that there seemed to be a very high level of security, more so than there had been at the dozens of other military bases he had played at. All of the band were fully searched, and their musical equipment was checked thoroughly. During the evening while standing at the bar Joseph overheard two of the officers chatting about the incident that had taken place. They mentioned unidentified lights that were observed in the forest around the perimeter fence of the base, and that they had sent people out to investigate including the base commander. Joseph did not question the officers further as he did not feel it was his place to do so. Later on the band’s conductor Lenny informed him and the other members of the band that he had had a conversation with the deputy base commander, Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt, about what had taken place. Apparently Halt had respect for him because he was ex-military. Lenny did not provide any further details, and Joseph does not recall anyone asking him anything further about it. Lights, Sounds and Markings By 1998 Joseph had moved to Fulton Close in High Wycombe. He had also married to his partner Laura and was the father of two sons Henry and Paul. In July that year they went to visit his parents at his old house on Sir Williams Close. He and Laura slept in his old upstairs bedroom. During the night something very peculiar took place. Joseph and Laura both awoke to find a very bright light pouring in through the window. It was pale blue-white in colour and appeared to have visible waves through it like vibrations. Laura got out of bed and walked to the window to take a better look. She exclaimed “This is curious, the light is coming round corner of house like it’s bent!” They then began to hear noises coming from various locations. They could hear what sounded like scuttling feet coming from downstairs, and also scratching on the roof tiles above them. Instead of going to investigate Laura got back into bed and they both fell off to sleep. Joseph is puzzled by how they acted in this situation. He says that in normal circumstances he would have definitely gone and checked to see if he could find the source of the noises. In the morning Laura’s father asked them “What was going on last night?” Joseph replied “What do you mean?” to which he responded “When I came down in morning I found everything on - the TV, the lights, the stereo, the oven! What were you doing last night? Having a party or something?” Joseph informed him that they had not gone downstairs and had no idea how everything had been switched on. Soon after this Joseph discovered a couple of strange markings on his inner thighs. They looked like pale circles with darker pink at the centre, almost like suction cup markings. They were about the size of a 10 pence piece, and were at exactly the same height on each thigh. Louise also discovered similar markings – one on her arm and one on her leg. Joseph recalls that when he checked his sons they too had these markings, but he cannot remember where. He first considered the idea that the markings were insect bites, as they had been walking along the bank of River Ant the previous day. However there were certain things that did not fit in with this explanation. None of the markings were raised off the skin, nor did they itch in any way. Normally insects would bite areas of exposed skin such as ankles and wrists, but these were in locations which had been covered. After several days the markings had all faded away. He did not take any photographs of them at the time as he did not yet understand their potential significance. This is a fascinating incident with numerous aspects. What could the light have been? It was clearly present as it was observed by both Joseph and Laura. And what to make of the unusual sounds coming from downstairs and the roof? Again these were heard by both Joseph and Laura so were definitely occurring. The way in which they did not go to investigate further but just settled down and went back to sleep would fit in with contact – often the individuals involved do not act in a normal manner and are usually complacent to what is taking place. The fact that Laura’s father independently confirmed that everything was switched on downstairs the following morning is again significant. Could the light have been from a nearby craft and the noises heard be ETs entering the property? Or did burglars break in and possibly look around before deciding to leave empty handed? This seems improbable, and there were no signs that this had occurred such as damage to the door or windows. Premonitions During the 1990’s Joseph practiced karate. By 1999 he was training towards his black belt, and he ended up visiting the karate headquarters on 42nd Street in New York with his friends. While over there they decided to visit the “Windows On The World” on the upper floors of the North tower of the World Trade Centre. The Windows On The World As Joseph looked out of the windows at the stunning view of the city he suddenly got an overwhelming feeling that something very bad was going to take place. He said to his friends that the World Trade Centre would be completely blown up. He had no idea where this feeling came from. He tried to dismiss the thought and enjoy the rest of the visit. Two years later when the World Trade Centre came down he realised that he had predicted the disaster. He was frustrated that he had not written down the details of what he had seen in his mind, so from that point onward if he had a feeling that he thought might be a premonition he vowed to write it down. He was confused as to where these thoughts were coming from as he felt happy and in no way suicidal. What he didn’t realise at the time was that his next door neighbour was having issues, and within weeks he hung himself. As soon as this had taken place Joseph no longer had the thoughts, so they certainly seemed linked with his neighbour’s death. He was upset that he was not able to work out who the thoughts were about, as he may then have been able to do something to prevent it. Joseph says that there have been other similar incidents, but cannot recall any specifically to share with me. It should be noted that many contactees report having premonitions of this type or other psychic abilities, and it did not surprise me at all when Joseph confirmed these events had taken place. Car Abduction In 2000 Joseph worked at Tesco on London Road, Loudwater, several miles to the South East of his home in High Wycombe. He used to regularly commute to work by car. One evening at the end of his shift he went into the washroom to get changed into his casual clothes. Suddenly a black shadow in the shape of a teardrop fell down right in front of him then immediately vanished. By this time he had looked into the contact phenomenon and took this as a sign that something else was potentially going to take place. He got into his car and prepared for the drive home. Before setting off he checked the clock as he was familiar with the phenomenon of missing time, and if something was going to happen he wanted to be sure of what time it was beforehand. It was around 10pm. He took the same route as always. This route would take him along Micklefield Road and under a railway viaduct. He quickly glanced down at his watch as he was familiar with the missing time phenomenon. Suddenly he found himself up in the air, about 10 feet above the car looking downwards. He could see that the driver’s seat was empty through the car sunroof. An image then briefly flashed into his mind. It was a geometric pattern of concentric rounded curves. He then dropped and found himself back in the car, still driving along. Again he looked at his watch. He did not appear to have experienced any missing time. He was quite frightened by what had happened so remained at top speed until he was home. When he arrived about 10.30pm he told Laura all about what had happened. About a week later there was an article in the local newspaper, the Bucksfeed Press. This article described a UFO sighting that a girl named Melanie Rogers had experienced. Joseph was astounded to find out that this girl lived on Hangings Croft, a side road only about 100 yards after the viaduct tunnel, and that her UFO sighting had occurred on the same date and time as his own experience. If he had looked up into the sky after emerging from the tunnel he might have even been able to seen it himself. Joseph still has this newspaper article and I hope to obtain a copy of it soon to include in this report. This incident is unusual and it’s hard to know what to make of it. If Joseph had experienced some missing time when he was lifted up from the car then this would be indicative of an abduction from his vehicle, but he did not appear to have lost any time when he re-checked his watch. It’s possible of course that he was taken and time stood still, there are all sorts of time anomalies which take place around contact experiences. The fact a UFO was seen in the area at the time by an independent witness, and the unusual shadowy form which Joseph observed prior to the incident are both very interesting and perhaps signs that point towards contact taking place. Silver Orbs On the Friday of the week following the car incident, the day before the newspaper article came out Joseph had another UFO sighting! It was a beautiful sunny day and he had stepped outside his house on Fulton Close to go shopping. There were no other pedestrians or drivers around. He looked up and saw a spherical silver coloured object about 50 feet overhead. If it was at the height it appeared to be this would have made it about 12 feet in diameter. Aerial map of Fulton Close The sphere was moving on a straight and level course at about 15-20 mph. Joseph cannot recall the direction it was travelling in. As he watched it start to move away he then realised there were two other identical spheres on the same course. The three objects were spaced at about 500 feet apart from each other, and were all travelling at the same speed. Their movement seemed very direct and controlled, rather than objects drifting on an air current. Joseph watched as the second and third spheres passed overhead and all three flew away into the distance. They were completely silent. The sighting lasted for several minutes. Unfortunately he did not have a camera on him and back in 2000 smartphones with in-built cameras were of course not available. Joseph says that when he saw the spheres he felt quite tranquil. He sensed they were friendly and was not at all frightened of them. In his mind they in a way confirmed what had happened the previous week. There is of course the possibility that the spherical objects Joseph saw were in fact silver-coloured inflatables. Sometimes when caught in strong air currents balloons can follow on from one another and appear to be travelling under control. He estimates the objects were 50 feet up and 12 feet across, but there is a chance that they were lower and smaller than they appeared to be. However Joseph is adamant that the objects were completely spherical in shape and that their movement was too direct to be caused by natural drifting. Alien Dream Later in the same year Joseph went to Olton Barnes to visit a crop formation and attempt contact through a CE5 protocol. Nothing significant took place, however a couple of nights after he returned home his wife informed him she had had a strange dream in which an ET was coming up the stairs of the house. However everything in the house was reversed, a mirror image of how it actually was. She had tried to wake Joseph up but for some reason he would not stir. Joseph did not ask Laura any further questions about the dream such as what the being looked like as he did not want to frighten her by insinuating it may have actually taken place. This incident may obviously have been nothing more than a dream, but it seems worth mentioning due to its proximity to other experiences which were going on at the time. Shaking Door Soon after Laura reported having the dream another bizarre incident took place. The family were awoken in the early hours of the morning between 4-5am by a loud thudding sound. Joseph and Laura sat up in bed wondering what was causing the sound and soon realised it was coming from the front door. It sounded like an express train was going past the outside of the house and causing the door to violently shake on its hinges. After about a minute of listening to the sound Joseph decided to go and investigate. As he walked down the stairs towards the shaking door everything just stopped. He reached the door and immediately opened it expecting to see something outside, but there was nothing which could have accounted for what happened. Fulton Close is a cul-de-sac so it would be extremely unusual for large vehicles to come down it. And Joseph says even a large lorry would not have explained what took place. The shaking of the door was too violent to have been caused by vibrations of a passing vehicle. He has never heard the sound again, it only ever occurred the once. Possible Surveillance Later in 2000 the family went away on a holiday to Ireland. Very soon after this this there were a number of incidents which took place which Joseph took to be possible surveillance of his home and family. One day they’d gone out in the car and were returning home. As Joseph turned into Fulton Close they noticed a man standing at their front door further up the road. He appeared to be trying to open the door with a set of keys. The man was white with a slender build, and he was wearing smart casual clothes. Joseph pulled up the car so as not to alert him to their presence. The man appeared to give up trying to get in. He walked back down the drive and got into a white-ish coloured old fashioned looking car. He then drove up the cul-de-sac to turn around. While he was at the top of the road Joseph drove his car back outside the house. He knew that the man would have to drive past him again to leave the road. As he did, Joseph checked the licence plate, then wrote it down once in the house. At the time Laura worked for a telecommunications company, which Joseph had also previously worked at. She had access to a system which would allow the searching of registration plates to identify owner details. When she checked the registration plate on this system she found out that the owner of the vehicle worked for British intelligence, often referred to as Special Branch. Neither Joseph nor Laura ever heard from the man or found out why he was attempting to enter their house. As if this incident wasn’t concerning enough, other things also took place around the same time. Joseph claims that for a period of about a fortnight he and the family saw black unmarked military helicopters in the sky around the house. At night they would sometimes shine searchlights down into the garden or through the windows. He managed to take a photograph of one of them, which he is going to try and find to add to the report. On another occasion Joseph was in the hall when he noticed through the misted glass of the front door the silhouette of someone approaching the house. Expecting the front door bell to go he prepared to answer the door but nothing happened. He opened the door and found that there was nobody there. Nor was there anyone in the nearby vicinity. Joseph says that this only happened the one time so was unlikely to have been caused by a trick of the light. There were also numerous times where he was on the phone to people and at the end of the call he heard a click sound, almost like the call was being monitored. He could never prove this of course, it was just an observation. Joseph is unsure whether these incidents were linked with his contact experiences or not. There was nothing suggesting a direct link, but numerous contactees have reported being monitored before or even experiencing visits from Men In Black. However there is another possibility. Back in 2000 tensions were still high with the IRA. While on holiday Joseph had placed an Irish flag in the back of the car as he was worried it may get vandalised by someone if they found out it was British. He wonders if he was suspected of being an IRA sympathizer and was perhaps being looked into for this reason. We are unlikely to ever really know for sure. The Golden Chair Between 1996 and 2000 Joseph had a number of contact related experiences at a variety of locations across the South of England including Oxfordshire and Kent. After several years he came to realise that these incidents had all happened on the same longitude and latitude. These lines crossed at a place known as Compton Down in Wiltshire. Upon checking a map Joseph found out that numerous different famous nearby archaeological sites and the locations of a number of famous contact cases (including the Ann & Jason Andrews case) all seemed to be located at 10 degrees intersections from this central point. He began to wonder what was so special about this particular place. Witness drawing representing the map he created In the summer of 2000 Joseph finally decided to drive to Wiltshire with two friends to see the location with his own eyes. It was night time when they arrived. The actual point was inside an MOD test range, so they was unable to walk right up to it. However soon after arriving they witnessed what appeared to be a dome shaped explosion of light coming from a nearby dry river valley. Joseph believes that the location holds special significance. He has nicknamed it “The Golden Chair” . He thinks it is likely that our ancestors were aware of this significance too, and built surrounding landmarks in specific locations to act as markers for it. Around the time of the car abduction incident, Joseph began to see an unusual image in his mind. It was a circular geometric pattern of concentric curves. He had no idea what it meant, and even ended up creating some Christmas decorations to match the shape. In early 2001 he discovered that a crop formation had appeared very close to the location at Compton green. When he saw photographs of this formation he was amazed to see that it matched the image which he had been seeing in his mind. Witness drawing of the crop formation Joseph does not know why he would have seen this, or what it means, but believes that it is further proof of the significance of the location he has discovered. Light Beings One night between 2004 and 2006 Joseph’s younger son came into his bedroom frightened as he had had a nightmare. He was too scared to go back to his own bed, so Joseph allowed him to take his place in the bed, and he went to sleep in his son’s room instead. He was lying there a while when he suddenly felt a strong pressure pushing into his back on one side around the area of his liver. This sensation woke him up but looking around the room there was nothing there. After a short while he dropped back off to sleep. The following night his son wanted to continue to sleep in his bed so once more Joseph slept in his son’s room. During the night exactly the same thing happened. He woke up with a start. However this time when he rolled over he saw two entities alongside the bed. They were very short in height, about 40 inches. They were the shape of Greys, but were glowing bright white with no visible features. Joseph felt that the beings were there for his son, and that they did not expect him to be there in his place. He was angry at them for coming for his son. He said out loud to the beings “This is not from God.” (Joseph informs me that this was a reaction probably due to his Catholic upbringing). Immediately they moved away extremely fast, vanishing in opposing directions from one another, and leaving him in the room alone. They did not come back on subsequent nights. Conclusion Joseph has had some varied and fascinating experiences over the years. At least some of these experiences seem to clearly be linked with contact, while others may well also be directly related. The UFO sightings he has witnessed are quite compelling, and in some cases have had other independent witnesses. Unfortunately Joseph has not kept in touch with any of these individuals so we only have his testimonial evidence to go on. Joseph says that he has not had any experiences now for quite a number of years, however as with other repeat cases this does not mean there will not be further incidents in the future. I would like to thank him for his bravery in coming forward regarding his experiences and allowing me to document them in this report. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Year: 2017 Last Updated: 14/10/2025   In December 2017 a man named Stephen got in touch with me via Facebook Messenger. He informed me that he had watched my recent interview with Richard Hall and that he had experienced a UFO sighting himself which he wanted to go over with me. I got back in touch to discuss what took place.   Sighting Details   In August 2012 Stephen worked at the Brittannia Hotel in Daresbury. One evening he began to get the feeling that he would soon have a UFO sighting. He has no idea where this feeling came from.   At 11pm his work colleague David’s shift ended. Stephen was planning to give him a lift back home, then return to the hotel until 3am. It was a calm, dry and clear night.   At around midnight Stephen was driving North West West along Daresbury Express Way (A558) with David in the back seat. As they were heading past the dis-used STFC Laboratory, David suddenly exclaimed “Fuck’s sake, look at that there!”   Stephen looked to the West in the direction he was pointing.   Photograph of the STFC Laboratory from Daresbury Express Way There were two orange glowing spherical objects in the sky. They appeared to be only about 100 feet in the air. They had no corona of light around them, and sharply defined edges. Stephen estimated them to be over the Rudheath Lane housing estate in Windmill Hill, roughly 1 mile away, and about 30 feet in diameter.   Aerial map indicating the STFC Laboratory (A) and Rudheath Lane housing estate (B)   Photograph from the position on Daresbury Express Way in the direction the spheres were seen David asked him to pull over to get a better view, but there was nowhere immediate to do this. Stephen continued driving along Daresbury Express Way until he found a slip road directly North from the housing estate. At this point they briefly lost sight of the orbs behind a tree line. After about 200 yards there was a clearing in the trees but they now found that the orbs had disappeared.   Photograph of the gap in the trees from where the witnesses were able to pull up on the slip road  David informed him that one of the orbs had been stationary, and the other had been moving towards it before they were lost from view.   Sighting Analysis   It is clear that the objects were not distant aeroplanes or helicopters. They were the wrong colour for these and as the Stephen drove closer to them normal white, red and/or green navigation lights would have become apparent.   Although the objects looked quite large to the witnesses, it is possible they were closer than they appeared to be and therefore smaller. It’s sometimes hard to judge distances of objects in the sky as there’s no point of reference.   I suspected that the objects may have been two sky lanterns, as these glow orange, and the objects did not perform any manoeuvres which would designate intelligence. Stephen said that he did not believe this was the case. He said he has seen sky lanterns before, and these two objects were a lighter shade of orange, and were also not flickering in brightness.   Despite his views on what was seen, I feel that lanterns cannot be entirely ruled out as an explanation in this instance. Perhaps one was caught in an air current while the other was in a patch of still air, causing the one to move towards the other as observed. The apparent disappearance of both of the objects over a short period of time is interesting, but its possible that if they were lanterns they both burnt out within seconds of one another, making it appear that they’d vanished.   It’s unlikely we will find out for certain either way, but it’s still good to get this case down on record.   Copyright Dave Hodrien 2025

Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Date: 30/06/2020 Last Updated: 09/10/2025 In February 2017 I was contacted by a man from Yardley Wood named Nigel who testified to two UFO-related incidents. The first was a sighting of a cylindrical-shaped UFO with glowing square lights/windows which had been seen the previous month. The second was a photograph taken at Earlswood Lakes possibly of a domed-disc shaped UFO. I began investigating the case and received additional information regarding the cigar-shaped UFO. I also performed some analysis of the UFO photograph initially sent through. Unfortunately I was not sent the original image taken, it was embedded in the E-Mail from Nigel. In addition to this I had many questions to understand the circumstances under which the photo was taken in enough depth. Unfortunately Nigel failed to respond to any further E-Mails. As I did not have the full details of the second incident I decided to proceed with the release of a case report solely focusing on the cigar-shaped UFO sighting, which can be found here: https://www.bufog.com/post/02-01-2017-yardley-wood-cylindrical-ufo-sighting In June 2020 I decided it would be a good idea to see if I could get back in touch with the witness to enable me to create a report at last. Nigel responded and I was able to gain some further information regarding the incident. Unfortunately he was not able to locate the original photograph. Sighting Details Nigel informed me that back on a very sunny and pleasant day in 2014 he and his wife visited Earlswood Lakes in Earlswood, Birmingham. The lakes are three large man-made reservoirs. They are the popular location for a number of activities including sailing, fishing and walking. Aerial map of Earlswood Lakes: Aerial map of Earlswood Lakes Photograph of Earlswood Lakes The couple were stood at the waters edge alongside Valley Road at the North Eastern end of the lake named Engine Pool. Nigel was taking a photograph of some sailing boats. He took the photo and then checked it on the camera screen. When he did so he noticed a dark object seemingly positioned over the woodland behind the lake. He looked up but there was nothing present in the sky of any kind - no planes, no birds. Photographic Analysis The photograph which Nigel sent through to me on E-Mail is shown below: As you can see there does at first glance appear to be a domed-disc shaped blurred object over the trees. Below is a zoomed view of the UFO, followed by saturated and edge find versions: Unfortunately Nigel did not provide me with the RAW camera file or the umcompressed JPEG image file, he instead embedded it in an E-Mail message. This unfortunately has caused all the metadata behind the image to disappear, data which I would usually use to determine if the picture has been manipulated or not. Below is the metadata which the embedded photograph contains: Unfortunately this does not tell us much, the only tags which remain are those related to the file itself rather than image details. However given the nature of the photo and the circumstances under which it was taken there it is very unlikely to be a modified image. The object is so out of focus it is hard to tell what it may or may not be. It is either a large object over the trees in the distance as it appeared to be to Nigel, a smaller object/animal at medium range, or a tiny object/animal up close. If it was the former of these it could not have been a normal aircraft or helicopter as Nigel says it vanished extremely rapidly. A large inflatable object such as blimp or novelty balloon can also be discounted for the same reason. It is possible that Nigel has caught a bird in flight over the lake. Due to the location it is likely there would have been at least some waterfowl around, even if none are seen on the surface of the lake in the image. It is very possible that one flew past as Nigel took the photograph, and had disappeared from view by the time he looked back up. A third possibility is that this was a very small object such as an insect or debris moving past the lens of the camera at the time the photograph was taken. The object is quite blurred which could suggest that this was the case. Although any of these scenarios are a possibility I feel that the second is most probable in this instance. The fact the photograph was shot over a body of water means that this object could easily be a bird coming in to land or taking off from the lake and photographed with its wings along its sides. Birds can often look like domed-disc shaped objects at a distance, and the fact that Nigel did not see anything at the time with his own eyes tends to support this theory. This report covers what is known about the incident. Sighting Details At an unknown time of year in roughly 2002, the witness and his friend were on their way home around 2am by taxi from Wolverhampton to Gunstone Hall. The taxi dropped them at the bottom of Church Lane in Codsall. As they walked along the lane and came to the public footpath they noticed a very bright white light. The light was dimming and then getting brighter and moving in a very fast motion. Aerial map of Church Lane They walked along the lane to continue to watch the object from next to St Nicholas church as this is the highest vantage point on the lane. Photograph of St Nicholas church The witnesses continued to watch its erratic movements and pulsing light for a long period of time until the sun was beginning to come up. At this point the object briefly disappeared, reappeared, then started to move at a steady speed. Two other objects seemed to emerge from it and then suddenly it vanished without trace. Sighting Analysis This is an intriguing sighting due to the length of time the object was observed for and particular aspects of what took place. The light was not a star/planet as it was clearly moving, and was not a satellite or distant aeroplane as from what the witness describes it was moving back and forth in different directions.   Nor does it sound like it was a distant helicopter, as there were no other navigation lights observed and the object appeared to have been moving too quickly for the majority of the sighting for this to be the explanation. The sighting took place over a decade before drones were commercially released.   The length of time the object was observed for puts the idea that it was a sky lantern being buffeted around in air currents out of the question. According to the testimony, the witnesses watched the object for a number of hours. If it was a lantern have extinguished much sooner than this. It was also the wrong colour, sky lanterns tend to be amber orange. It is unlikely that it was another lit inflatable such as a white LED balloon because it would have surely drifted away after a while, not remained in the same area of sky for a long period of time?   The fact that two other objects appeared to emerge out of the initial object after a long period of time is another fascinating aspect. I wondered if it had been a bird catching light from the ground. This could explain the erratic flight patterns. But if so then logically these two other objects seen would also have to have been birds. The sighting was extensive, so even if these other birds had been hidden behind the one seen initially they would have flown in different directions before long and been visible sooner.   It is unknown whether the object moved away into the distance and was lost from sight, but from the witness’s description it did not, it was just there one moment and gone the next, an aspect which has been reported in many other cases.   The light was clearly something unexplained, and something which the witness remembers to this day. There is the very real possibility that it was an advanced craft of some kind. UFO/UAPs have often been observed making fast erratic movements, pulsing in brightness and suddenly disappearing.   As the witness provided no contact details we are very unlikely to ever learn anything further about what happened here, but it is great that he got in touch to report this interesting experience. Birmingham UFO Group Case Report Author: Dave Hodrien Release Year: 2016 Last Updated: 03/10/2025   Note: For reasons of anonymity pseudonyms have been used and precise address details have been omitted   In September 2016 a man who I shall name “Simon” got in touch to ask for information about BUFOG’s monthly meetings. He also informed me that he had recently seen and taken a photograph of an unusual glowing object, which he decided to send me to analyse.   Sighting Details   Simon lives on Smethwick, Birmingham, near to Thimblemill Library just North North East of Warley Woods. Aerial map indicating Thimblemill Library (A) and Warley Woods (B) On either 11 th  or 18 th  June at 10:10pm he was out on the front garden and about to head out to Smethwick Labour Club & Institute for a drink. It was a dry and clear night with the stars visible. He happened to look out to the South South West in the direction of the woods and noticed a spinning multi-coloured pulsing light.   It appeared to be a main glowing orb of light with other pinpricks of white light flashing irregularly around it. The main orb was pulsing many different colours including red, yellow, green and blue. It was hovering motionless in the sky. He initially thought it was a police helicopter searching for something. But it remained static in the air for far too long.   Simon estimates it was roughly twice as high a police patrol helicopter would usually fly at, possibly 1000 feet up, at a 50 degrees elevation from his position. He believes it was about twice as big as a helicopter (roughly 90 feet across)   Intrigued by the object he watched it for between 5-10 minutes before deciding to quickly nip back inside to grab his Olympus X-42 camera. Returning to the garden he found that it was still present.   Checking his camera he realised that it was almost out of battery power, so decided to quickly snap a photograph while he still could. However, due to the distance it just looked like a jumble of coloured lights when he zoomed in on it. He did attempt to photograph it though, and after taking the image used the camera’s lighting auto fix function on it.   Below is the auto-fixed image which Simon sent to me (Currently he has not sent me the original un-fixed version):   After taking the photo he continued to watch the object for a further 20-25 minutes. He did not attempt to walk closer to it because it was in the opposite direction to where he was planning to head. In the end he was forced to depart for the labour club to ensure he got there before last orders. He left with the object still hovering in the sky.   Simon says that the sighting of the object freaked him out a bit, but since seeing it he has become fascinated by sky watching after dark in the hopes of seeing something else. He showed his wife the photo but says that she didn’t take much notice of it.   Photograph Analysis   Exif metadata is lots of hidden information stored behind photographic images and videos. It varies significantly between different makes of camera, but can be used to find out interesting details including make and model of camera, date and time the image was taken, and sometimes other useful information such as geographical position or compass direction. It can also be used to detect whether any tampering has gone on using image editing software.   However, metadata usually only remains intact with original images extracted directly from the camera they were taken on. Copying the photo to computer or social media such as Facebook Messenger can often remove most of this information, making analysis of this type largely pointless.   I was made aware by Simon that the image he sent me was not the raw original image off the camera. With this knowledge I still decided to run the image through an online Exif metadata viewer just to see if any metadata had been preserved. Unfortunately, as expected, most of the normal expected values are no longer present:   The fact that the Primary Platform metadata value reads “Apple Computer inc” means that Simon has downloaded the image to his Apple computer/tablet, and in doing so a lot of the metadata has unfortunately been lost. However I have no reason to doubt that this is a genuine image which has only been ran through the light level fix functionality of his camera.   Unfortunately, the image is not clear enough to really state what it may or may not have captured, a fact Simon is well aware of. It is clearly a luminescent object of some kind. It has orange, green and blue tints in it, although these colours could be down to the way the camera has picked up the light during the enhancement process, not the actual colours it was at the moment it was taken.   Sighting Analysis   This is an intriguing sighting with aspects that could be considered unusual. It was clearly not an aeroplane because of the fact that it remained stationary for around half an hour. This also tends to rule out a hot air balloon being flown after dark, or other lit inflatable, which would certainly have drifted.   I did ask Simon f he thought it could possibly have been a bright star or planet, as these can sometimes seem to flash different colours extremely rapidly. He said absolutely not, he was personally convinced that this was an object in the atmosphere rather than out in space. Also the image looks wrong for an out of focus and light enhanced star/planet   There are elements which do not fit with it being a distant helicopter. As Simon pointed out, half an hour is a long time for a helicopter to remain hovering in one position for. It appeared, at least to him, to be too large in size for a helicopter. Lastly there is the multi-coloured lights observed. Usually helicopters have red static, red strobing, white static, white strobing and green lights on them, as indicated by the below navigation lights diagram:   Simon witnessed yellow and blue coloured lights alongside these other colours, tending to suggest it was not simply a helicopter hovering over the woods. Similarly, drones tend to have singular coloured lights rather than a mix of flashing colours, although neither a helicopter can be entirely ruled out.
