Birmingham UFO Group Case Report

Author: Dave Hodrien

Release Date: 05/11/2026

In late August 2026 Birmingham UFO Group was contacted by a man named Zygmund via E-Mail. He informed us that his grandson enjoys observing the sky, and is fascinated by the UFO subject. He wanted my opinion on a photograph which his grandson took early on the morning of 23rd May 2026.

Photograph Details

Below is the original photograph:

Unfortunately, not much is known at present about the photo, other than the fact it was taken between 3-6am on from the window of a house in Boston, Lincolnshire. As you can see it appears to show 3 points of light in a equilateral triangle formation, with a fourth and possible fifth point to the right.

I went back to Zygmund with a number of additional questions about the incident but so far he has not responded.

Photographic Analysis

It is clear from the names of the image files that Zygmund received them from his grandson via Facebook Messenger. Unfortunately, this has removed the metadata, which would have given us some additional information such as camera make and model, exactly when they were taken, and possibly precise location and compass direction.

Below is an enhanced version of the photograph which Zygmund also sent:

Zoomed view of the white points of light:

While the three orbs of light at the left are in a near equilateral formation they do not appear to be lights on the corners of a singular triangular object.

At present we do not know whether the white orbs of light were moving or not. Multiple small white points of light observed in the sky can be explained as many different things. Particularly bright stars/planets can look unusual, especially if other stars have faded due to the early morning light or hidden from view by cloud. Below are screen grabs from Stellarium showing how the night sky looked from Boston at 3am on 23rd May:

As you can see there are no particular stars/planets which stand out as being responsible for what is shown on the images.

The points of light seem too localised to have been satellites, especially as no other stars appear to be visible elsewhere in the sky.

As I do not know the precise location and direction of the photograph I am unable to confirm whether the lights are a formation of distant aircraft using Flight Radar 24, but it seems unlikely they would all look so identical to one another with no other navigation light colours visible.

Other possible explanations include numerous drones or a launch of white coloured LED balloons drifting on air current. Another possibility (if the lights were stationary) is that they were a reflection of lights within the room bouncing off the closed window that the photograph was taken through.

It is not possible to provide further analysis without hearing back from the witness or his grandfather, but at the moment I find the window reflection theory the most probable.
