On 22nd October 2025 I was contacted via E-Mail by a lady who I shall name “Helen”. She informed me that her grandson “Luke” had witnessed what he believed may be a UFO on the previous evening, and attached a photograph for my analysis. I arranged a phone call with both Helen and Luke to discuss what took place in more depth.

Sighting Details

At 7:27pm on the evening of 21st October Luke was dropped off at his father’s house on Suffolk Way, Fernhill Heath, Worcester. Due to the time of year it was fully dark. It had been raining previously but had now ceased. The stars were visible in the sky.

Suffolk Way sits alongside a number of huge open fields to the North:

As he walked past the gate to the house Luke recalled that there was supposedly a meteor shower happening that night, so he took several pictures to the North East, North and West-Northwest:

When he checked the photos, in the final shot he noticed a dark shape towards the base of the image, possibly lit by one or more lights. It appeared to be about 500-2000 feet in the air and was an unusual shape. Judging from the image Luke believes it was at least the size of a house (30 feet).

He adjusted his settings on his iPhone 16 and put dark mode on to try and see the object more clearly. Below is a screen grab he sent me of this:

Photographic Analysis

Here is an enhanced zoom of the object in question with noise removal:

Further enhancement of the object:

Below is the metadata extracted from the photograph with important information highlighted:

The Camera Info, Creator Software, Make, Model, LensID, LensMake, LensModel, ProfileCMMType, ProfileCreator, PrimaryPlatform, ProfileCopyright and DeviceManufacturer all prove that the photograph was taken on an Apple iPhone 16 and has not been modified by any image manipulation software.

The GPS, GPSLatitude, GPSPosition and GPSLongitude confirm where the witness was standing. The GPSImgDirection confirms which direction they were facing.

The CreateDate, ModifyDate, SubSecCreateDate, SubSecModifyDate and SubSecDateTimeOriginal confirm that the photo was taken at 7:28pm on the 21st October.

I can understand why Luke has interpreted the photograph as being a large unusual shaped object. However, I believe that what was photographed was a single point of white light, and the wobbly line interpreted as the edge of a solid object was this point of light stretched out due to camera shake.

You can see almost the same shape towards the top of the enhanced photograph Luke provided:

This is very likely a second point of white light, not quite as prominent as the lower one. I have analysed many similar photographs before, and feel this is the most likely explanation. This would explain the bizarre shape observed, which certainly does not look like the edge of a structured object, and would also explain why the right end of the line appears to be brighter than the left.

These white points of light this could be explained by many different things. Neither could not have been the International Space Station as ISS Tracker confirms this was over the West coast of the USA at the time the photo was taken:

However, Stellarium confirms that the bright star Arcturus was low down in the sky to the West-Northwest:

It is possible that this could have potentially been responsible for the more prominent light. Other possibilities are a satellites brightly reflecting sunlight, distant aircraft, drones or white LED balloons.

It’s great that Luke sent me the photo for analysis despite it probably having a mundane explanation. Many sightings are not captured on camera at all, and only have testimonial evidence to go off.
