BUFOG Barr Beacon Sky Watch

Now that the warmer weather's starting to appear we decided it's time for another BUFOG sky watch. We will be heading to a new location for this one - Barr Beacon. Only 3 miles out of Walsall town centre, it's one of the highest points in the Midlands with a superb panoramic view of the sky. It is also the first urban nature reserve to be awarded the "Dark Sky Discovery Site" status by national astronomy and environmental organisations. There is a stone war memorial on the summit making it a very picturesque location for a watch.

As usual we will be initially meeting up at a bar, and this time we've chosen Farmer Johns Streetly on Aldridge Road, Sutton Coldfield as the ideal meet up point. This is only a few minutes drive from Barr Beacon. We will be at the bar from 7pm. Then around 8pm we will make our way to the sky watch location in convoy.

Barr Beacon has its own public car par. It's closed to the general public from early evening, but we have managed to secure the keys to the gate from the council so have access to it for the sky watch!

Our base of operations for the watch will be alongside the war memorial. BUFOG Chairman Dave will be bringing along some temporary BBQs and hot food for everyone. He will also go over some UFO sightings which have occured in the area. You are welcome to bring along other snacks and drinks (please dispose of litter responsibly). As the area is a nature reserve, bonfires and fireworks are not permitted. Depending on the weather, we aim to stay there until the early hours of the morning. You are free to leave earlier if you need to. Everyone is welcome to attend, including non-group members, children and dogs.

We will be joined by David Bonner and Rachel Murphy from the Multidimensional Show who will be running a CE-5 protocol on the night to attempt to initiate contact with extraterrestrial beings using conscious intention. This involves following a guided meditation to send an invitation to benevolent ETs to make an appearance and make meaningful contact with the group. Previous experience is not required, just respect and a willingness to give it a go! This will not be mandatory, join in if you wish and who knows what might happen?

As it will be dark at the sky watch location it is advised that you bring with you a torch, as well as any binoculars/cameras you wish to use. Warm clothing and walking shoes are also recommended, as well as waterproofs which hopefully won't be required.
